Like Blondie said........Paul Winchell was a big part of my childhood too! Watched him and the "dummies" antics every Saturday morning as a kid in the late 1950's and early 1960's.
Did you know that he built all his "dummies"?
He also invented one of the first and best artificial hearts that actually worked and received many accolades from the medical community.

I don't think you really could.
About 1 out of 100 JW's would stand there and debate if they think they have some knowledge. The other 99% would high-tail it from your door like Speedy Gonzales because they don't know how to refute anything with the "rote" knowledge most of them have. They close their ears and minds in a matter of seconds when hearing anything contrary to what Brooklyn teaches them.

Smelly Onions is one of those dubs on the fence who has lived a sheltered life with only JW ideology penetrating his small mind. He doesn't have a clue that there is a whole world of people outside of his narrow minded bubble who have experienced some of lifes negative experiences.
It's my guess that he......until recently...........never had to worry about where his next meal would come from..........and he probably never had the fine privelege of paying his way through life.....like paying bills. Mommy and Daddy took care of everything for him.
He doesn't have a clue! I never wish bad on anybody, but some day when he receives his "comeuppance", he just might come crawling back to JWD pleading for help.

i have heard that the watchtower had built several "places of refuge" in the united states during world war 2.. there is very little information about this activity, as if the watchtower does not want people to know what they did.. one place of refuge later became the location of the watchtower farms, and the another became the gilead school.. still another was the house beth shan, located in san diego.. these places of refuge were mentioned during a public talk given around 1947, and recorded in a watchtower issue.
there was applause from the audience when it was mentioned that these places (along with rutherford's house, beth sarim) were being sold off, or otherwise disposed of.. does anyone have further information about these places?
it seems like this is a topic no one who was alive at the time wanted to talk about or mention so that future generations would know about it.

hi, what have been your experiences either as only children or as parents of an only child?
is it as awful and lonely as people say?
did your children grow up precocious & annoying?
I was an only child and had a great childhood and was not spoiled. My parents taught me the value of a dollar and I had my first job at 9 years of age delivering newspapers. There were always other kids to play with in my neighborhood and not having siblings didn't bother me at all.
However, looking back on life, I wish there was an older brother to slap me upside the head and knock some sense into me when I started listening to the preaching of my mother who became a JW in the early 1960's. I got baptized in 1970 after meeting my wife at mother's KH. Sometimes I wonder what the real reason for my baptism was.
My daughter is an only child and I guess we and the grandparents did spoil her a little. She is grown now and well adjusted. And our relationship is wonderful!
