I understand. Been there a few times and had to put in a few 18-20 hour shifts some years ago. It pissed me off at the time but the challenge made me feel like I was ruling the world because I saved the day.
It was a much better HIGH than any assembly or KH talk I ever did.
NOW GET SOME SLEEP DAMMIT! I have to catch a plane in 13 hours for Florida again. Too hot there!

Bootsie's Rubber Band
I love Bootsie!
I'm probably one of the few "senior" white guys that is totally into Bootsie. He has quite a musical portfolio and it not recognized nearly enough for his accomplishments.
Here in Pittsburgh we have a listener supported station.........WYEP 91.3 and on Sat. afternoon.......it's the Soul Show with Stephen Chatman. He plays a lot of Bootsie. You can hear it live on the web.

this thread isn't about spitting on the sidewalk or picking your nose in public.
i am talking about bad thinking habits.
ways of thinking that we learned in order to survive, bad ways of thinking that we learned because of wrong information/wrong beliefs that we had.
A great big........DA...UMMM!
The early conditioning had impressed on my psyche that nothing in the present mattered, only the hope for Paradise. Also, as JWs, we didn't learn how to make goals, and work towards them. It was all about this week's meetings, FS, etc.
Talesin................that hit the nail on the head for me. No future in this system, so why bother?
Guess it will still take some more time for me to progressively get better!

Widow Battling Lung Cancer
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Christopher Reeve's widow announced Tuesday that she's facing a battle with lung cancer and is looking to her husband "as the ultimate example of defying the odds with strength, courage and hope."
"I hope before too long to be sharing news of my good health and recovery," said Dana Reeve, who won worldwide admiration for the steadfast support of her husband during his nine years as a quadriplegic.
Christopher Reeve, the star of the "Superman" movies, died last year.
Dana Reeve, the 44-year-old actress and chairwoman of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, was a nonsmoker, said foundation spokeswoman Maggie Goldberg.
Her announcement came two days after the lung cancer death of ABC News anchor Peter Jennings, a smoker, at age 67.
The foundation would not comment on the extent of Reeve's cancer or whether it is restricting her activities. Reeve said it was diagnosed recently and is being treated.
"Dana will tackle this challenge with the grace, courage, and determination that have become her hallmark," said Kathy Lewis, the foundation's president and chief executive officer.
A month ago, Reeve cited "family reasons" when she canceled an appearance in Washington with actor Michael J. Fox in support of embryonic stem cell research. Christopher Reeve's spinal cord injury, suffered in a fall from a horse, is among the conditions for which such research holds the promise of a cure.
Comedian Robin Williams, a close friend of the Reeves, issued a statement with his wife, Marsha, sending "all of our love and support to Dana and her family during this challenging time."
In her statement, Reeve requested privacy and said she was disclosing the illness only because a tabloid was about to do so.
"More than ever, I feel Chris with me as I face this challenge," she said. "As always, I look to him as the ultimate example of defying the odds with strength, courage and hope in the face of life's adversities."
Reeve did not disclose where she's being treated.
Dr. Scott Swanson, chief of thoracic surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan, said that depending on the extent of Reeve's cancer, she would be treated with surgery, chemotherapy, radiation or a combination.
He said researchers have noted an increase in lung cancer in nonsmoking women under age 51 and are trying to find the cause.
Reeve, who in suburban Westchester County with the couple's 13-year-old son, Will, has appeared on Broadway, off-Broadway and regional stages and on the TV shows "Law & Order," "Oz," and "All My Children." In an Associated Press interview a month after her husband's death, she said, "I am an actress and I do have to make a living. ... I definitely will be getting back to acting."

This just brought back a memory..........
In the mid 1980's, two families from my KH of the a**hole kind went on vacation to Rehoboth Beach Delaware as they did every year. Both bros. were elders and loved their position as such. Both families had three kids apiece.
Seems they were so busy talking and into their own thing that the one family left their 7 year old in the motel at the start of a day of fun and didn't realize that the kid was not with them until about an hour later. They went back to the motel to find the kid watching TV.
I felt for the kid, but the father was the most trouble making elder in the cong. if not the circuit. He was a very deciding influence in my leaving. If I ever see him again...........a middle finger is ready for a wave!

i'm a partner in a national communcations company, we install services for time warner and dish network as well as other clients.
my responsibilities include client acquisition and maintinence, as well as developing the strategy we are using to grow our business by taking over markets from our competitiors.
currently we have 3 offices and about 40 employees in la, ny, and nc, with corporate offices in fl.. my family and friends think i work on computers making minimum wage.
I'm a retired machinist/expeditor/job planner/compressor repairman. And the only reason I am retired is because for decades, I did not listen to any JW high-ups and kept working my rotating shift job. I put the "providing for my family" before any JW activities and got away with it. Hell.....they made me an elder!
Am now the vice president of an interstate transportation company. (on paper that is.....the only reason for the vice presidency is legal corporation interests) My VERY GOOD credit rating gave my son-in-law's business a boost and the only financial gain I get is expense paid trips to Florida to visit them several times a year.
But I love it..........and them!
