Thanks everyone. I'm feeling much better today. I'm most grateful that my daughter is out of this cult too. We are very close even though there is a 1200 mile distance between us. I am in the Pittsburgh area and she is in Bonita Springs. She left the religion about a year before I did. Neither one of us knew that the other was fed up and enlightened. One night when I met her for dinner I told her that I no longer wante to be a JW. She was actually elated with my statement and I gave her my copy of Crisis of Conscience. That book sealed our WT fate for good. That was about 1999.

I get down to Florida several times a year to spend time with her. She now has a career that she loves and tons of good friends around her. I'm retired but also have many worthwhile friends from all walks of life here in my area. I was in Bonita Springs for 15 days at the end of August through Sept. and loved it even though it was hot, humid and rainy. I'll be there again for Thanksgiving like always and I always go down for the Bonita Springs Blues Fest every March. A really great event!

For some reason I'm feeling kind of blue tonight. It doesn't happen often but tonight it feels like I've been hit with a bat. This song by Bob Seeger came out in 1980 and the words really touched me. The first stanza or so of the song don't have meaning for me but the part I've posted always got to me. Even way back then, my then living wife understood what I told her about these lyrics. She was raise as a JW and had her own doubts. She saw way too much BS in the cong. and I was able to talk to her with no reservations. The times I was so fed up with the local politics and trying to fit in...she understood me. The words have so much meaning to me and I heard this song on the radio tonight and just started crying and that is way to strange for a 66 year old apostate (oops.....an awakenend ex JW who learned the TTAT almost 15 years ago) like me.

Just sharing. Thanks for listening.

WATCHTOWER IN A PANIC!

jws are in need of more kingdom halls in many major u.s. cities.

at this years agm where it is expected that most of the faithful will be able to listen to the meeting (being tied in by video), dont be surprised if the wts 8 gb members take part in a symposium delivering some long winded appeal, petition, plea, proposal, proposition, solicitation or otherwise hit-on the masses for $$$ in order to lighten the burden and overuse that many kingdom halls are experiencing.

an acquaintance from the west coast mentioned to me that in late august thru early september of this year that a number of pow-wows involving close to 5,000 elders from numerous areas (riverside, los angeles, ventura and orange counties) took place to drum up financial support from the 800+ (not sure) congregations in those areas.

Hmmmm.....more Kingdom Halls needed? Then why have they sold off so many here in the U.S. over the past decade or so? They used to point the finger of disgust at the huge beautiful churches of "Christendom" and the ostentatious Catholic cathedrals built over the centuries at the expense of the faithful following. Now they do the same thing with the multi-million dollar KH's that house four congs. "Give us all of your hard earned money so that we can prosper. You won't be needing the money. It will all be thrown into the streets.

Totally disgusting. Glad my eyes were opened over a decade ago.

Today I had coffee with Mouthy!

a few months ago i found out mouthy lived a short drive away from where i live and we communicated by pm.

so this morning i called her and was able to meet with her for coffee.

what a pleasure it was to finally meet her.

i was cheering wendy williams on when i saw her on et calling paula deen to the carpet for her use of racial slurs.

i use to work for a woman that reminds me of paula deen.

she was s caucasian woman her mid 60s and she was raised in georgia and she constantly would make racial jokes and do racial jestures in front of me.

I think it is all PC bullshit. Us whites are constantly downbraded by radical "colored" so what is a slip of the tongue by a famous person. Don't even tell me that you people don't on occasion make a snide remark about someones ethnicity. Get a life already!

I just want a divorce!

hi there, this is my first post, but i've been buzzing around this site for years.. i got married at 18, hubby was 20, i was a regular pioneer and we were talking about serving in bethel.

fast forward - i left in 2004 after a 5 year battle with my conscience, family and friends who kept insisting that i was just "weak and needed to have another bible study".

however hubby and i stayed together although it was kinda on the understanding that we would just not talk about it.

If he is not supporting you financially in any way, then it is a scriptual divorce. My daughter went through this in the late 1990's and the elders were agreeable even though they tried every trick in the book to try to convince her that the congregation would suffer. I said F them and we both wound up leaving. Happiness comes in many ways. LOL

I have a hard time beliving that the parents are active JW's. The father has a goatee and if he was a "sincere and active brother" ..... that would not be on his chin. They may have some relationship in the cong. but I doubt that they are really involved in the weekly brainwashing.

so my good ol soon to be ex father in law told me a few years ago (before i had told him of my horrible apostate ideas) about a "client" of his.

my fil used to be involved in the insurance/finance industries.

he had a lady client that was about 20 years older than him.

There are a lot of JW con artists and it seems to me that your soon to be xfil it taking advantage of a situation that borders on "nasty". Around 2000, at the KH I went to, an older sister who thought the world of me and another bro (we both left our lifetime KH's because we were fed up and went to this KH) because we were the same ethnic background came to both of us and told us that the PO wanted her to sign her beautiful ranch home over to him because she was being hospitalized so much. He already had his own home but still wanted hers. We told her not to do it. Shortly after, I started fading even more than I did starting in 1998-99. The sister died not long after and I think her house went to a worldy relative. I'm glad the PO didn't get it.
