Ages of each user here?
by ukpimo ini'm interested to know the age demographics here.
it must be significantly different to other exjw forums.
it would be a damning report for watchtower if most of us appear to have left for decades.. you don't have to mention your exact age, you could always say "in my 50s".. i am in my 70s.

Moving on in a new chapter
by redsetter2 inmoving on is the hardest thing anyone has to cope with.. i have officially left the org.
and now it feels my family have been waiting to do this for a long time, officially shunning me, even though they were practically doing this whilst i was still in.. it feels like i've accomplished a victory and at the same time i feel guilty i was tangled up in communication with someone who "hid who they were" claiming to leak information from bethel.
i got the call from the man who i thought i worked with.

90 DAY DISFELLOWSHIPPING!!!
by DisgruntledFool inhas anyone else caught this tidbit in the new s-395 instructions?:.
"if the individual is not an apostate or actively promoting wrongdoing, they will also inform him that they would like to meet with him again in three months to determine if he has had a change of heart.
in some cases, but not all, the committee may determine that there is basis for reinstating the individual at that time".

there is so much confusion now.. if we can talk to disfellowshiped/disassociated ones to invite them to meetings then is it really going to stop there?.

Elderly and sick: Out of sight, out of mind
by Captain Schmideo2 insomeone else posted something a similar experience, this is one i had regarding my mom.my mom died last year.
she had been in failing health for years, but the last 2 year were pretty rough for her, with lots of visits to the hospital.
the last 4 months, it was the hospital, a skilled nursing facility/rehab unit, and finally, a nursing home.

I emphasize Captain S.
When my wife died from cancer in 1996, I could count on one hand how many JW's came to see her within a one year period, her last year at home when she could no longer go to the KH. Two of my neighbors, one a devout Catholic and the other a lovely born again Christian were at my house every day to help my wife with whatever female things that needed done. Then of course, her memorial service at the KH was the usual organization sales pitch.

The pyramid was moved to the garage at the Coraopolis, PA Assembly Hall. Whether or not it is still there is anyone's guess. They want their history to disappear.

Thanks for your story Lee. So glad you were a part of this forum. I joined JWD 20 years ago. Not sure of the month, but I think it might have been April. Back then we had the live chat going, but unfortunately, some people abused it so Simon took it down.

Oh noooooo! My favorite Youtubers turn out to be JW's.
by HappyDad inon the subject of beards....i recently realized that the people in three of the youtube channels i love to watch are jw's.
i don;t want to name these channels here, but you can message me if you want to know them.
shortly after the announcement of now being allowed to have a beard, the men on these youtube channels started growing facial hair, whereas until that point, they were clean shaven.

On the subject of beards....I recently realized that the people in three of the Youtube channels I love to watch are JW's. I don;t want to name these channels here, but you can message me if you want to know them. Shortly after the announcement of now being allowed to have a beard, the men on these Youtube channels started growing facial hair, whereas until that point, they were clean shaven. One channel is by a guy from my old home town (lived there for 5 years) of Bonita Springs, Florida. His channel was mainly a travel vlog. After seeing him with a beard, I searched my memory and realized that last year he posted a picture of him and his wife showing their brand new clothes for a special occasion. New suit for him and a new dress for her. That special occasion was the night of the memorial. After doing more searching on his Facebook page and all his pictures, sure enough, they are JW's.
The other two channels are related. One is a very large vegetable growing farm and market in northeast Pennsylvania. The other channel is a horse boarding stable that is attached to the farm market. Both are owned and operated by a very large extended family. There were subtle hints that made my JW radar ping on several occasions. On several videos, when the guy was showing all the produce in the market, there was a literature cart against the back wall. Then there was the early closing of the farm market on a day that just happened to be the memorial, and other things. Then lo and behold, in January, at least 5 of the related men of this family started growing beards. So....acting like a troll, hehheh, I checked out all of the two families Facebook pages. Sure enough, they are all JW's. I wouldn't be surprised if at least a quarter of the congregation in Hazelton, PA is members of this extended family.
Just because they have permission to grow a beard doesn't mean that they should. If all you have is blotches of hair on you face, forget it. A couple of these guys look like LLoyd Evans clones.....unkemped, sloppy, and greasy.
I think somewhere down the road, the society will comment on the fact that beards should be kept ineat and trimmed just like a good haircut.
