I think I donated $15 ... maybe $20 the whole 21 years I was in the bOrg (born & raised in it).

Home from Circuit Assembly
by RichieRich inas some of you knew, my circuit assembly was this weekend (dec 24 and 25).
the theme was "clothe yourselves with the new personality".
i guess the society has to reinforce the idea of humility, because apparently, you can't mislead haughty people.. from the sound of the accounts report, people are voting with their wallets.. nothing particularly egregrious was said.. luckily my mother had a fever this morning, so we got to leave at lunch.

When you were a JW, which would you have prefered living on earth or heaven
by JH inwhen you were a jw and believed that either you could live in heaven or on earth eternally, which did you prefer and why?.
although we were told that heaven was a better place to live, that we would see god, and that we would live eternally and never die, i prefered living on earth, never see god, and not 100% sure of living eternally, cause we would still be mortals forever, even though we could live eternally on earth.
most jw's i know said that they would have prefered living on earth eternally in perfect health than living in heaven.

I was taught that naturally I'd prefer an earthly existence instead of heavenly.
But now, i don't care since I don't believe in that stuff anyways. Or - it's not important to me. Aren't we supposed to focus on the present?

Did you just call me a "sister?" Yikes! That's freaky. lol
You also said: "I think being anointed (to answer the new sister's question) is when the holy spirit opens your eyes wide open to the bible and you slowly start really understanding things. That's maybe why newly anointed ones sometimes get disassociated after."
So I guess a lot of people on here are of the "anointed" - myself included. But i don't consider myself Christian anymore and I don't take everything in the Bible quite as literally as it seems some of you do.

Welcome Lunalara
Don't let them guit you into doing anything (like continuing to study). As others advised: walk away.

Did You have Peace and Joy?
by Honesty inwhile you were associated with the jehovah's witnesses did you have the peace and joy that the bible, especially the new testament says jesus' followers will have in abundance?

Serendipity,
I was taught the JOY acronymn. But it didn't work for me. I was raised JW but at my baptism (17 yrs old) I felt a spiritual death. I really felt something inside of me die.
I lost all joy and had little if any inner peace. I poured myself into staying busy so I could ignore my feelings. I led a horrible double-life (horrible because it was dangerous). I was bored, frustrated, and numb. Mostly numb.

How many ex JWs return to the Borg?
by greendawn insomeone told me there are statistics showing that ultimately one third of jws leaving will go back to the borg.
this is not the general impression one gets from this forum.
so what's really happening?

I agree w/ Runningman.
Growing up in the bOrg, i saw most people return. They were the more pathetic-type so to speak. They NEEDED the support system that they were familiar with. They missed their families. They saw themselves as sinners (i guess).
The "free thinkers" leave without looking back.
Remember how being labelled a "free thinker" was a bad thing? I lOVE being a free thinker

What made those of you "are annointed" believe that you are of "the annointed class?"
I think 2 of you mentioned that you are annointed. But neither one of you described why you believed this. What was your specific experience/feeling?
Thanks.

Which religion is right for you?
by seesthesky inyou scored as judaism.
your views are closest to those of judaism.
if you are not a jew, do more research on judaism and possibly consider becoming one; however, realize that conversion to judaism is difficult.

I did this a while back. I was primarily Pagan.
