>By earnestly, sincerely and gently moving attention from the minds interpretation of life and all it's past and future, >beliefs and judgments, good and evil, mumblings and commentary, and instead silently offering conscious awareness to this >present moment. Look deeper into what is it to be alive. Look deep into the raw senses of BEING (without the dark lenses of >mental conceptualizing and story telling). Be present. Be open. Allow Truth to reveal Itself.
you're saying we should relinquish everything we have been taught, break down all the boundaries we have built up around ourselves and find our 'inner being'?
I agree this would be an exceptional place to be in mentally but equally hard to get there.
How long did it take you to achieve this viewpoint?

Belief - a key to Spiritual experience
by LittleToe insetting aside dogma, taking the comments of augustine to a deeper level ("unity in what is essential.
freedom in what is not essential.
charity in everything"), i'd like to share an observation.. i don't know if i can articulate it properly, and i know it'll open me up for some abuse, but so be it.

The Goodness Of Beer
by DireStraitJacket in"sometimes when i reflect back on all the beer i drink i feel shamed.
then i look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams.
if i didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered.

"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel shamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

And saving the best for last, as explained by Cliff Clavin, of Cheers. One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory to his buddy Norm. Here's how it went:
"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the ! whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers." -

Interesting phenomena regarding Witnesses
by JamesThomas infirst, and most important: thanks to all those who read my introduction-post last saturday, and especial thanks to those who replied.
like many who have been disfellowshipped (and especially those raised in the org) i've been dragged through icy waves of agonizing hurt and anger; often followed by times of peace and letting go; only to be hit by another turbulent and bitter bout of animosity and grief.
the tides do run deep, don't they.

Elders said each Witness is FREE to make his or her OWN decision about voting.
But when asked how many of the 85 members in the Westlake congregation would vote in November, Michael Dobbs' reply was IMMEDIATE: "No one." -

the virus auto-generates email addresses from random words, email addresses found in an infected machines address book, and now from search engines as well. The chances are you where not being targeted specifically and someone who at some stage had corespondence with you and kept your email address in their address book and was also either a witness or an ex witness or an something has an infected machine. Or someone that person emailed at some stage. the possibilities are endless. Just update your antivirus, maybe set it up so that it scan attachments before you open them, that is the safest option. If you're using web based email and you have antivirus installed that does real-time scanning (which all should do) it will automatically scan the attachment as soon as it has finished downloading, before windows can open it. So the only thing you should really be worried about is keeping your antivirus software up to date, and windows up to date as well.
