I was already on the way out...it just wasn't doing it for me anymore. The year text for that year was about the yoke being light, something i knew just wasn't happening for me. Ironically an elder at the time mentioned COC and how he read it before becoming a witness (at the time he was stronger than ever, tho i think he will eventually come around once he sees completely the that what he read was truth...he's already stepped aside as elder) I believe that the internet is hurting them badly tho...more than they even realize yet. Without major changes, the glory days of the WTS are over. Axelspeed

Jesus the son of God
by kingdoman ini believe in jesus christ the son of god conceived of the virgin mary and who is one and the same as the father and the holy spirit, and through him all things where created.
i believe that he was crucified as a perfect sacrifice for our sins and on the third day rose from the dead and later ascended in heaven.
it is through jesus christ that we enter the kingdom of heaven and there is no lack of space in heaven.

In my now post-jw life, I try to live, let live and not be too dogmatic about much. But my tolerance for religion in general is taking a beating....fueled in large part by the jw-like way a lot of people try and shove their beliefs on others.
Most of us have "been there, done that, and bought the tshirt." Whether u realize it or not, that brand of dogmatism and the tone you present it with is a real turn-off for many here.
I never thought I would say this, but "organized religion" is starting to make me sick.

Leaving on your own terms!!!!!
by researcher inhow about leaving on your own terms!!!!
you go to the sunday meeting or theo school and service meeting... and when there is an opportunity to comment.. you raise your hand.. and the diligent brother [servant wanna a be] brings over the microphone and you say.. " i just wanted to make it clear that i "...." no longer want to be identified as one of jehovah's witnesses's connected with the watchtower tower society, and then you get up, click your heels, give everyone a farewell salute..... and leave the building singing some neil young tune...... :) has anyone done that?
should we start doing that?

I think I may be close to that point myself. Sometimes you just need to cut the strings.

Experience is not always the best or most preferred teacher...but it is many times the most effective. Sometimes you just have to see it for yourself.

Jehovah's Witness family wanted for "Trading Spouses"

LOL! That would be hilarious!
I can only imagine the torture of the visiting spouse having to go through all the rituals...daily text...weekly family study...WT study...FS prep...Sat morn FS...ALL 5 meetings...and then keep up a tidy JW home on top of that! That's not even getting into having to put those pioneer hrs. in if the wife's she is trading with is one...lol!
I would even feel sorry for the JW family...having to put on the face of a perfect JW family...only to be judged by the world... and worst/more likely by your own JW "friends"

THE GENERATION OF 1914
by Mary init makes you wonder when exactly the governing body and their lawyers decided to change the "generation of 1914" doctrine.
the first quotation below is from the 1992 wt and the second one from the 1993 brochure the purpose of life, just two lousy years before they imfamously dropped the whole idea:
*** w92 5/1 p. 7 the 1914 generation?why significant?

The above is a lesson for those of us who may expect a softening of GB's current stance on blood, shunning and other polemic issues anytime soon.
I agree, that we should not expect quick changes. I do believe, however, that the elements are in place for a perfect storm.
The combination/convergence of a quickly aging GB (i dont think the newer members have the same level of loyalty/clout instilled in the underlings yet), the increasingly vulnerable/exposed stance on blood (it is becoming harder to sit on the current stance), the time/date expiration of 1914 (2014 is only 9 yrs. away), the internet, etc., etc. If things fall right the next few years will be very interesting.

What blows my mind is that it doesn't seem as though the rank and file witness has much noticed this. Isn't this a big deal??!!
A lot of individuals have already seen and acted on this change. But I believe that many more are not aware or have not grasped the significance of this change. There are many (especially old timers) who know of the change in an academic way, but still hope in their heart-of-hearts in the old generation understanding. They are too emotionally attached to the generation of 1914 not dying off and the hope of seeing a paradise. As 2014 approaches I think reality will begin to set in for a lot more.
As usual, when the time comes the WT will self-reference 1he 95 article as if this was the understanding all along.

I had forgotten this -so he is 100 this year -mind you the WTBTS can put spin on this -see some people can live to be 100 - why some of our dear GB members ar ethis old -so Jehovah can see to it that since 1914 there wil lstill be some alive - somethink like that anyway
I believe that there are many who still have the 'generation of 1914' mentality and still have not grasped the significance of the 1995 change. There are even more who still don't even realize there was a change.
This WT's earthquake struck in 1995 with the change in this doctrine, and a lot of JWs took notice. In 2014 (100 yrs after 1914), a resultant WT tsunami may hit when the realization of what took place in 95 really takes hold. (Hope the comparison doesn't offend)
