WTS Emergency Meeting
by doinmypart inthe disaster relief committee at patterson organized 3 meetings this past memorial day, monday september 5, 2005. the meetings were held in lake charles, louisiana; bossier city, louisiana; and ball, louisiana.
over 1,200 elders were in attendance from louisiana, missouri, arkansas, and texas.
i took horrible notes, but want to share a few things.. the elder opening the meeting emphasized the importance of confidentiality.

Dear lord the WTS cannot afford to have too many people come back to the halls talking about unconditional love and support offered by "worldly people"
Very true.
As mentioned above...if you are from Louisiana and are even contemplating a fade, now is the perfect time. Your elders dont know if you've been shipped to Calif, Utah or tim-buk-too...and right now are too preoccupied with their own lives.

finally reading "Crisis of Conscience"
by glenwoodswoman ini never had the desire to read the book in all the years i have been "liberated".
joining this board got me curious about the book and i am finally reading it....and i am blown away by it!.
i left for reasons of my own- the society and i could not agree on who should run my life- them or me-i always felt that this life style works for some people, but not for me.. now that i am reading coc, i see the whole issue in a much bigger light!

My faith in the WTB&TS had to be destroyed as I knew they were the only true religion in the entire universe
Unfortunately, to be free, i think this must be done. If there is any inkling that they are right a person could end up with back and forth misery for life.
COC is required reading in my mind for any who have left or wish to leave.

But their claim that Quotes has cited the passages "selectively" clearly opens the door for his defense to enter the original articles (in their entirety) of each and every quote he has made into the public record, to prove that the quotes were not selective as claimed.
Exactly! They don't they really want to go down that road. Do they?

You may transfer all the SOFTWARE and all Printed Materials to another party who is one of Jehovah’s Witnesses
Just make sure you have access to the printed material or scans therefrom. There is a difference between software and the printed material therefrom and published bi-monthly paperback journals.all Printed Materials to another party who is one of Jehovah’s Witnesses but only if that party accepts all of the terms of this Agreement
...if this refers to the mags, JWs unknowingly violate this themselves every Saturday morning. Do they ask if the other party accepts the agreement? If referring to printouts, see the above.

Are they going to start suing people who go door to door but don't put in a field service report?

As I read it, this is a bunch of legal sounding smoke...because I just don't see a legitimate basis...at least one that makes sense.
1) The CDs are not sold (wink) so there can be no monetary harm.
2) The CD itself is a replication of previously printed public documents...which were not sold (wink) but distributed.
3) The reference about the intent to embarrass is purely speculative, especiallly since these are direct quotes from there own literature, with no commentary.
4) The only way to prove that intent is to show that the quotes are taken out of context or are complete mis-quotes. Do you think they really want that? In that case the worst thing they could do is go to trial.
5) They do not want to make this a discussion of doctrine, but in order to prove the claims of harm they would ultimately and inadvertantly be exposing those very doctrines. Not whether the doctrine is true, false good or bad,....but whether they did in fact print what is now only being quoted....from documents that they themselves printed and distributed freely.

paragraph 31 for an interesting, and bizarre claim: the Watch Tower's books and materials "embarrass[es]" the Watch Tower!
...And that's what really gets under their skin. They are trying, but they can't run from their own words fast enough! Axelspeed

This is laughable! There is no way they really want this. In the long run they will be damaged considerably if this gets out as you couldnt buy this kind of advertising. My bet is that they are hoping you feel the Goliath bearing down and tuck tail and run.
The main issue seems to be the CDROM issue, which can be easily rectified, as all the information has been printed. Secondly, you are only quoting, and not reproducing complete works. I don't think they have a case, and are depending/hoping on the intimidation factor
What this really exposes is the effect the internet is having...it has been devastatingly effective.
