I don't have access right now to the wt cd, but I'll try to look for it this evening and post it...if nobody finds and post it first.

lol...but at least you don't sound like a WT study attendee. How JW does this sound?
I was just about to comment ...
Will I ever get it out of my system?

Thanks IP....I was just about to comment that in hindsight I also think it has to do with the illusion of decentralized power.

A few years ago there was a WT that mentioned how JWs would say in conversation "the Society says this" or "the Society says that". I'm not sure what issue, but I'm sure somebody here knows.
That same WT went on to suggest what a "better" alternative might be as far as how the WTBS might be referred to as. They never made a hard rule, and I doubt it would make much of a difference as the phrase "the Society says..." is deeply ingrained as JW-speak with a lot of JWs.
I believe they were worried about the public persona, as "The Society" sounds a little cultic to most people on the outside.

i posted this idea to unclebruce's thread - i deceded to repost as it's own thought here.
i would not be surprised this very kind of article could come out of brooklyn someday soon.
coming soon to a watchtower near you!
lol...You wrote that way too well Jeff...in fact you just may have written it for them.
I don't think it would work because the internet is much too entrenched now. But I could definitely see an article like yours being written in a desperate attempt to close the barn doors.

i never thought i would do one of those infamous goodbye i cant take this board anymore posts where the person shows up again a week later and looks like an idiot.
when i had enough of this board and needed a little break i would just quietly leave for a few months and hopefully nobody noticed.
that is not the case this time.
As everyone else has stated, I'm sorry to hear you are dealing with this illness. Your presence on this board will be sorely missed. Your posts have always caught my attention and I have enjoyed and learned from them emmensely. I dont post alot, but I read just about everything....and yours are usually at the top of my list of those to read.
Check in from time to time as you are able. Take care.

Great work Danny!
It is nice to see Ray's book getting a plug too. I think he may be getting a few more orders.

The new-style 2006 version of the card is quite interesting tho (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/16/104206/1.ashx), it gives one the choice to accept ... autologous procedures
Willy, I had not noticed that before, even though I'm sure I saw that thread. I would like confirmation on that as well. If it is true, it would only add to the opinion that someone is being deliberately deceptive about the whole issue as opposed to any supposed power struggle.
But I might be missing what's new. I take it that the "BIG NEWS" is that what Barbara reported last month made it to the papers. But I see nothing "new" to a JW sitting in a KH.
Min,
You are correct. There is nothing new in the article per se for any person who has any interest in this issue and has been following the WT's shifts concerning this issue. Any informed person has already realized the confusion and contradictions the policy presents.
What IS news is that
1) A legal argument has been presented that proposes a basis for compensation due to loss because of the blood policy. That is something that is new and NEWS.
2) These exposes provide some clarity to what many believe to be a purposely ambiguous policy, if nothing else. With continued exposure, especially in the mainstream press as opposed to coming from John Doe Apostate, hopefully more JWs will start thinking about the issues presented and how the decisions being decided/discussed are of critical importance. Most publishers, even some elders, don't have a clue. They believe that the issues are too complex for them to understand themselves. They see the medical terminology being used by the WT...and it all begins to look like gobbley-gook. In frustration most give up and trust that those in charge know what they are doing. Providing more clarity as to the real policy may not be news to those already informed, but for a JW who is presently confused, it would be NEWS.

don't see how one would take it as "meaning that all blood fractions are bad" at all since that isn't even the topic or issue of the paragraph.
Eduardo,
I went back and re-read the paragraph in question. I also re-read the question and how it might be understood to read.
Then I walked away, thought about it some more, ... then came back and looked at the letter again. I understand that fractions per se are not the main thrust of the paragraph. But with this wording, taken within the totality of the JW blood policy, some confusing and/or misleading implications and inferences are being made. I won't go back and forth on this, but I stand by my comments.

"Can any doctor or hospital give complete assurance that blood or blood fractions will not be used in treatment of a minor?"
Eduardo
If I were someone who never had contact with the Witnesses.... or even someone who is currently a Witness, but totally confused about the Society's current stand on fractions I would take (by implication from the above question) that all fractions are bad.
I dont know how much more could have been done to be more confusing/misleading.
I can understand, and so forgive the fact that the AP writer may not be aware of all the nuances of Witness sub-culture and how it translates to there written and spoken word...and in many cases the unwritten word i.e. unwritten rules.
But I will also state that sometimes you appear to be just as lost in understanding the JW culture, and therefore how the above question is intended to come across and the conclusion that Witnesses are expected to read into or come to as a result of that question. If I may ask, just how long were you a Witness?
I will not speak as having all the facts, but it appears that they are caught in a vise of their own doing. They are trying to find there way out of a very big mess by cloaking there words in ways that cause confusion and remain vague. Finding their way out wont be easy. It may take a bit, but I believe the ball is rolling.
I believe the article will stir more to think about the issues involved as the article is being printed in mainstream sources. This article explains the current JW position more clearly than all 5 pages of the HLC letter.
