If there's some good in the Watchtower, why leave it?
by AlmostAtheist inthe post about crisis of conscience in which the poster said he knows there's some bad in the watchtower (as brought out in coc), but there's some good in it too got me to wondering about people that stay for the good in it.. the united states makes some decisions as a country that i don't agree with, perhaps even object strongly to.
but i don't disavow my citizenship.
it's mostly a good place to live, so i stay.. if you want to live in a way that utterly conflicts with the watchtower -- homosexual, multiple sex partners, smoking, whatever -- then you have reason to leave.

I've avoided the elders so far...but could this all change on SATURDAY?
by logansrun inwell, it has been almost three years since i silently and dramatically vanished from the world of the watchtower.
moving an hour away from my congregation's territory and not answering phone calls was all i needed to avoid having to wear the letter "a" on my chest.
but, that could all change this saturday.

My name is Matt, I live in Surburban Chicago and I DA'd myself last June. I was shunned instanstly by my father, mother, sisters and friends of over 20 years. I haven't spoken to any of them since that day. But I don't regret my decision. I get to live my life on my terms. Good Luck - and call if you want to go out for a beer and talk.

i have a relative still 'in' that might accept that the 'food at the proper time' was missing here!
i think i used to have a copy of the booklet 40 years ago - but it is long gone.

I like the part where he/she talks about the upcoming projects, but says "the holidays are coming soon - so I'll be getting a much needed break". Why? Does she celebrate now.

Shunning - what do they think they are accomplishing?
by mjarka911 ina jw cousin of mine called my jw wife today and asked if i saw my new nephew from my jw sister.
my wife said "no, his family would never allow him to see the baby!
" (i'm da'd).

A JW cousin of mine called my JW wife today and asked if I saw my new nephew from my JW sister. My wife said "no, his family would never allow him to see the baby!" (I'm DA'd). My cousin said "Good, thats the way it should be - that could help bring him to his senses!"
Now, shunning because you don't think someone is a good influence makes sense. That's your right. But, do they really think someone will want to return to people who abuse them this way. Am I supposed to think "thank god they selfishly denied me seeing a newborn baby, I really want to be with these people!"
Isn't this like telling your wife "Come back and I'll stop hitting you."

We really have some quality people on this forum!
by mjarka911 ini just wanted to say what a nice time i had at our chicago apostafest last week.
although i had to call it a night after dinner to tuck my little guy in and get to the firehouse, i'm lucky to have met such nice people.
the idea of those who left the org standing in darkness and gnashing their teeth is such a crock of shit.

Although I had to call it a night after dinner to tuck my little guy in and get to the firehouse, I'm lucky to have met such nice people. The idea of those who left the org standing in darkness and gnashing their teeth is such a crock of shit. The folks I met are genuine, insightful, funny and all around quality people.
Winston Smith - you're a firecracker! You and your brother were a joy to be around. It's amazing how our experiences are so similar. Maybe we can have dinner sometime again (Us DA'd folk talking to each other and our JW wives lamenting us at the same table would be a hoot. )Keep smiling.
Evesapple - You are a delightful, beautiful woman. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope you got to tuck your little one in too.
Snapdragon and Mom - You two were a riot. I identified with your sense of humor, the kind that comes from facing real life and winning. Snap - good luck with the baby. PM me where you are registered for a baby shower. You'll make a fun mom.
Devons Mom - Smart chick, been through a lot, sexy tatoo. I'd be proud to call you a friend!
Bavman, noapologies and the other Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin clans - thanks for making the trip. Next time I'll travel to meet you guys.
Bradley - good job as always playing devils advocate (next time lets play hungry, hungry hippo) You always make everyone else welcome and get us thinking (and sometimes arguing!)
Blondie - I was most looking forward to meeting you. Sorry you weren't felling so well. I'd like to buy you and your husband an expensive glass of wine and hear your tale sometime.
Thanks again, everyone. No one else understands exactly what we're going through except each other.

Blood Fractions and Your Conscience
by FairMind infor arguments sake lets assume that the wts teachings that the bibles prohibition against blood is valid with regard to accepting a transfusion.
jws are now being told that while they cannot accept whole blood or whole blood components such as red blood cells, white blood cells and blood plasma, they can if their conscience permits accept blood fractions.
i have thought quite a bit about how and why the accepting of some blood fractions and not others is supposedly a conscience matter.

And isn't it still taboo to give blood. Where do they think they are geting the fractions from? Plus I thought they still thought you couldn't store blood. Blood fractions are obviously made from blood that has been drawn and stored.
It gives me a headache!
