No Handouts for me, Buddy!
by littletree ini just wanted to respond to someone on this forum (i think his name was "still-fading") who made the comment in one of the threads that "obama will win... the popular vote, due to fact that the people on the receiving end of hand outs outnumber the people paying into the system".
here is my comment: false, false, false.
i have not voted before, until yesterday, and i'm not normally political.

Going back, even for a party, was kinda traumatic...
by littletree inmy mom called last week to tell me that i'd been invited to the high school graduation party of two girls from my former congregation.
i went because these weren't just any girls; they'd been more like little sisters to me, best friends, right up until i purposely drifted away from the jws in 2003 {my brief jw bio: i started going to the hall with my re-instated mom when i was about 6 years old; i got baptized at her urging when i was 14, on septermber 1, 1991; i was a bible-loving, whole-hearted witness youth until age 25; then i left after a year of "apostate" reading at 26, attending my last meeting at a district convention on september 1, 2003; i've only been back for 1 memorial, and about 5 other times to visit family members or old "friends" at their various halls.
} so yesterday i attended the party (at a seafood restaurant), bringing my wonderful "worldly" husband of 2 years, and his mom, with me.

the reasons why we leave makes a difference...
by littletree ini have a dilemma (did i spell dilemma correctly?
): i am the only person i know, of any of my former witness associates, who left because i started doubting/stopped believing the teachings.
i did research on the internet, read books, talked to people from different religions, etc.

Is religion and faith not possible for some?
by littletree ini ask this question because i'm starting to have the scarey feeling that i was born "faithless".
other than feeling that babies and flowers are beautiful and miraculous, i have been having the darndest time feeling 100% sure that god exists and cares.
things that religious folks say are "blessings" i just see as the product of human effort and choice, or as stuff that probably would have happened anyway.

Is the Devil making you happy, too?
by littletree inthis is my first post, and i'm so excited (i've been reading posts on this site for over a year now; i tried to register back in october 2003, but had some problems.
i decided to just go ahead and use my "real" work e-mail address, which seemed to have worked.
just for a short introduction- i got baptized at 14, on september 1, 2001. and on september 1, 2003, the last day of our district convention, i decided i was never going back.
