  it's been a long time since i've posted here.

  i think i made my account when i had what, just turned 19 i think?

  i was doing research on some of my doubts then, but by that time, i had pretty much made up my mind to leave.

  It's been a long time since I've posted here. I think I made my account when I had what, just turned 19 I think? I was doing research on some of my doubts then, but by that time, I had pretty much made up my mind to leave. I just had to find a way to tell my mother. It took me until I was 20, and it just kind of slipped out. I didn't even plan it. Funny how that kind of thing works out. At least I got to celebrate my 21st birthday. I think. The details are kind of fuzzy still.
  
  I guess since then I've gone through a personal rennaisance. I've always been a big reader, and I read things I would never have even dared to as a JW. I read a lot of philosophy, books on other religions and such, thinking I should round myself out after all the stuff the WTS put in my head. I expected to find something that would change my world view completely, and show me a new way of life. Nothing happened. No matter how many books on buddhism, judaism, catholicism, existentialism, objectivism or any other kind of -ism I read, the only thing I was left with was how much I disagreed with them. Some I disagreed with less than others, and some made very valid points that I do think are worth some merit, but other than that, I just disagreed.
  
  And then, one day, I realized what this whole mess was about. I have the right to disagree now. For so long, I didn't have the right to my own opinion. I had to be in lock-step with the Watchtower Society. Dissent was blasphemy, how dare I think any differently?
  
  So naturally, I went looking for something to read on the subject and I realized that I was placing too much importance on what a bunch of dead authors said that I was missing out on life. So I got a good job, picked up a few hobbies, made some good friends, and got a good girlfriend who I swear I'm going to marry someday.
  
  When I left, I was told I was leaving behind the only chance for happiness I would ever have. That Jehovah would kill me, and I'd die in obscurity, unfulfilled. That I was wasting my life and my talents.
  
  I, of course, disagree.

  today someone i love like a son is meeting with the elders.

  he seems to need closure.

  he thinks there's a possibility they may charge him with apostasy for his questioning attitude.

  He's got a supporting wife and a good friend in you, and that's something he'll need. Hang in there. It doesn't seem like it when it happens, but being disfellowshipped by the JW's is like the IRS telling you they don't want your money anymore. I'm sure he'll eventually come to that conclusion.
  
  Edit: Or whichever agency collects your taxes in whichever nation you happen to live in.

  the dilemma .

  what happens when an organization claiming to be the only ones who speak for god has its veil pulled back so that many, perhaps for the first time, see the fallible humanity behind the claim?

  who is going to be the new ?wild beast??

  i was just watching the news and the un is in some pretty bad trouble, teenage prostitution scandal, oil for food scandal, ect.. it seems that they are slipping quickly into insignificance.

  recommend some new music

  have you found some new band or artist that you would reccomend we listen to...for this to work we would need to know what style of music you normally listen to and then we can know if its what we would enjoy...eg.

  i like pink floyd...genesis...yes...etc.....................and have just found mercury rev......brill

  I'm into industrial music. VNV Nation is coming out with a new album soon, and what I've heard from it is great. I highly reccomend them. It's industrial, but it doesn't adhere to the whole shouting-german-men-in-gasmasks stereotype that Industrial has given itself. VNV Nation is actually very intelligent.

  1.5 hours to the New Dr Who !!

  christopher eccleston is the new (and 9th) dr and was previously in the excellent "second coming" (where he played christ who reappear at maine road ... you really had to see it, lol).

  Oh man, I need to see this. I hope they air it in the US on BBC America or something. I watch Dr. Who on public television whenever I can, right after Red Dwarf. I like Red Dwarf a lot better, but Dr. Who is great.

  Now if only they'd hurry up with more Red Dwarf...

  I went. As they passed the wine, I started to laugh. A quote from The Family Guy came to mind. "This is the blood of Christ? That guy must have been loaded 24/7!" I shared the quote with my father, and we both got a big kick out of it.

  JW's are not Christians

  i've noticed on this forum that a fair few ex-jw's still refer to the members of the non-christain cult known as the jehovah's witneses as christians.

  im aware that current members may wrongly believe they are in fact christians because the organisation leads them to believe they are serving god.

  but for ex-members who are awake to the false teachings of this non-christain organisation, i thought they may be more prudent in their choice of words, and not refer to them as christians.
