Freeman, actually I would have to say you are mistaken. Aztec did not state "immediate profit," she said "profit." Note she referred to profiting from WAR (Bush is affiliated with arms company) and "the controlled flow of Iraqi oil." That may mean taking a loss in the interim, but what he desires is control over the oil, which in the long run would more than likely translate to profit for him.

Secondly, the reason the USA is not profiting from the oil now is reason why Bush would love to get control over that region - so they can make a profit! You think it'll all be the same after the war? Pa-LEEZ!

Where's the proof? You're trying to tell me a multi-millionaire has no idea where his money is? People like that don't keep money very long. Again, seeing is believing. But even so, the mere fact they have stock in the company is all the evidence needed - they know that if the stock price goes up, so does their personal gain. It's a no-brainer here...

Valis, I'm glad you can look at it like that even after what the parents were afraid of happening happened. I'm sure they like to say it's because he's black, but it's SO not a black thing. There's tons of losers in all races - you just gotta learn how to weed them out. You've got your thug, pimp-like Bobby Browns and you have your trashy Kid Rock's, none of which I'd want my daughter to get interested in. But if daughter liked someone like Denzel or Antonio Banderas....that's cool. Just gotta teach them what to look for in a prospectful mate of any color, that being a responsible person with values and high moral ethics. Unfortunately, it seems a lot of women go for the "bad boy" image like Tommy Lee and there's not much anyone can do but hope and pray they don't live to regret it.

as a canadian, i fully support the usa and obviously this disaster was not intentional and i'm sure the pilots must feel awful about it.

I think you missed the moral of my story. The moral is that anyone who takes another persons life, whether it be by purpose or by accident, is liable. That's the law. Granted involuntary manslaughter is not as serious of a crime as murder, but it is still something that has to be done for the sake of justice.
Also, I never said it was the pilots fault - read again:
Whether or not it's the pilots fault or the commanders - that's what needs to be determined. One of the two needs to be held accountable
If it's the commanders fault, penalize them.
If it's the air controllers fault, penalize them.
etc. etc. etc.
From the excerpt that Valis posted, it sounds like it's the controllers fault, even though it was probably a simple slip of the tongue. Very unfortunate.
Coming from a black man who is practically engaged to a white girl, I do NOT view white women as "the ultimate." Not to say other black guys are the same - just speaking for myself. I've never had any black friends express that ideology either though. I've been interested in several nationalities before, white just happens to be the one that has hit home finally. I think sometimes white women may take advantage of black guys - unfortunate, but I'm sure it has happened before. However I doubt very seriously this goes on in the majority of inter-racial relationships. I think SOME white guys take advantage of Asian women as well, but again I wouldn't say it's a generalization of all caucasian/asian relationships.
Don't let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch.
Inter-racial couples recieve hard times in areas that are not culturally diverse. I would strongly advise anyone to take that into consideration - not that it would necessarily change your mind, but it is something to prepare for.

Buying a fuel efficient vehicle does not change the facts. Until the world wide community decides to stop using oil, we no matter what, will have to deal with it.
The USA is the one who should be taking the lead - NOW - in this endeavor. Global warming is serious business. The world wide community is trying to encourage US to take the lead and GB refuses to even think about it AND makes changes that are WORSE for the environment. The average American is too caught up in their glorious fake lifestyle to give a damn, that's what's so sad.
When is enough enough? Maybe YOU do not want to deal with it, but will your children or children's children pay a price to great, sometime in the future? If you can say affirmatively that they wont, then have it, believe what you may. BUT if you are wrong, who will be lamenting the dereliction of the duty you should have fulfilled?
Global warming is more a real threat to my kids than Sadaam IMO. In the Bay Area of California, kids are exposed to as many cancer-causing chemicals in the air to last a lifetime by the age of 3. Not to mention that heavy flooding is estimated to take out coastal areas within the next 30 years due to global warming. There's always going to be mad rulers - getting rid of Sadaam is not going to solve everyone's problem. Addressing foreign policy matters is the answer, however the USA refuses to negotiate on anything, and threatens anyone who stands in their way, just as the big bully did in school as you mentioned above.
Whatever happened to finding Osama and bringing him to justice for what he allegedly did? My, that seems to have slipped out of the news and out of peoples minds. Now all they can see is how evil Sadaam is, although our President vowed to bring Osama to justice.

I don't think one American life is worth risking for the profits of Bush's oil business. I'm not against making money at all, but killing innocent people to do so is ethically WRONG and just as evil a thing to do as anything Sadaam has done or is doing.

If there was concrete evidence of WMD in Iraq, it would be a different story, but since they were all destroyed during the Gulf War and he hasn't really had the capabilities to rebuild that stock, I have a problem believing the threat is as serious as implied.

this is what I'm doing to help lessen our dependency on oil and save our environment in the process - what are YOU doing?
The problem is not that we need and use oil, the problem is what our country will do to get it and profit from it. Lives are being lost so that people can profit from a resource that is running out and harms the environment in numerous ways. Why not pursue alternate sources now? I don't have all the answers, but what's going on right now doesn't seem to be the right one. Personally, if the USA had less of a presence in the Middle East, we'd be a lot better off. They hate us now when we're way across the ocean, imagine how they'll feel when we're their next door neighbors...
