anybody who has read my other recent posts...... don't worry, this is absolutely not about me feeling that way... i'm very happy, thanks..... .
my roommate, however, had a friend who committed suicide a couple of weeks ago and she just broke up with her boyfriend and he was saying things similar to what the guy who committed suicide awhile back was saying just before he took his life.
it is freaking her out.
KLS <> Well, you know what, kls? The school kids are the ones that are sick ! , to treat someone like that. I have a few friends that commited suicide, and sometimes I still think about them, and wonder if I could have said something to them to help them to change their way of thinking. But, sometimes, you don't even know they are thinking of suicide, until it's too late. .
Even my own daughter tried to commit suicide once, then realized she didn't really want to. She was breaking up with a guy. She called me, and I'm so glad I was here to answer her call. She's okay now, and happily married. But, it's scary to go through that.

KLS <> I think it's just because people don't know what to say. I don't think it has anything to do with suicide itself. I feel that way at funerals....What do you say? How can you express your true feelings? You can't say..."Hi, how are you"? or Nice to see you again, (even thought it's you relatives funeral, etc.). Most people (including me) don't know how to handle it.
I will say, however, that I'm sorry to hear your Dad did this, and you lost him and he lost you, even though I don't know when this happened. The feelings are still there. So sorry.

Suicide...Escape from life's hardships.... from reality....a way out.... It's too bad that this happens to a lot of good people. There are other alternatives. You just have to look for them. But, I really don't know all the answers...It's just sad. I guess if you are at that stage, you aren't looking anymore.
i have read the topic "no trespassing..." and can't keep frm asking "are you afraid of dialogue?".
i thought we were in america where we have freedom of speech, i have the freedom to approach my nieghbor oin conversation and he has the right to either continue the discussion or say "not interested" .
this whole thing about wanting to erect signs seem to cut off the freedom of speech that america says it prides itelf on...what happened?
If you are talking J.W.'s, it should read "Cults...no trespassing".

Can you think of any others?

i am not a jehovah's witness, nor have ever been.
i cannot even come close to relating what that is like.
however, my husband has been studying with them.
The problem is, the j.w. your husband is meeting with, is trying to change his mind. Try to discuss what the j.w. is telling him. Look up info on only what he is getting from the j.w., to counteract what he is telling him.
You still have time to get your husband to come around to the idea of celebrating Thanksgiving, etc. Work on him slowly. I wouldn't give up on him just yet, for the fact he is saying that the W.T. is a manmade religion, and he knows it's wrong, plus he read Crisis of Conscience. Even though it's hard, I think you should discuss, not argue, with him about his beliefs, again, slowly.
The J.W.'s start their brainwashing technique by first tearing down all other religions, and their beliefs, so they can start to get a hold on their "new convert".
Hang in there, and keep trying to get him back. I know you are having a real problem with it, but he is only just starting to get involved with the j.w.'s, so it's not like you have had this problem for years, as some of the others here have. I wish I could give you better advice. I just feel you still have a good chance of getting him to "see the light", because of some of the things he said to you. Don't give up on him just yet. Good luck, and God bless.
Hubert
