german: abtrünniger or abgefallener (the last one is the equivalent to dannie's dutch word, but means "fallen one")
italian and spanish: apostata -

Why do/don't you believe in God
by LouBelle innow for all the scientists out there this is not a question of proof or anything along those lines.
for my part i choose to believe in a god because i honestly believe there is one (though i did start doubting for a little while) i've always felt that there was more to our existance on earth - and that doesn't stem from me wanting to live forever or as a spirit, as i don't even know if that will happen.
i also believe in him because many many times when i could not carry on, on my own strength, i managed to pulled through.

What do YOU perceive the gospel to be?
by LouBelle ini read greendawns' thread on 'would accepting the gospel make the world a better place'.
and from there some debated on the belief / existance / non belief / non existance of god?
so my question to you is simply - what is the gospel to you?

do you believe in evolution
this is like asking if i believe in biology or gravitation. evolution is not a belief-system or a religion, it's a description of observations.
... big bang, or do you apply the same principle as 'lost sock island'?
personally i haven't done too much research about the big bang, but you have to distinguish biological evolution from cosmological origin-scenarios.
about the socks, that's where "ocrams razor" cuts in. or in common words: the simplest explaination usually is the best. and "big bang" sounds pretty simple...
one thing i want to add: an atheist doesn't necessarily say "there IS no god", he usually simply "does not BELIEVE in a god". thus there's no need to prove the nonexistance of a god, because it's not his claim. it's simply analysing the evidence - or better, lack thereof - and the logical consequence of not believing in such a far fetched construction. -

There is actually an island where all lost socks go, on their journey they usually pick up lost socks and head off into the setting sun.
really? i didn't know that. thanks for telling me, i'll believe it, because i don't think anyone can prove it wrong. -

i don't believe in a god, because i asked god if he exists and he didn't answer. then i realized that i was just a child still believing in santa clause. i believed in god because they told me there is one. just as a child believes in santa because it is told he exists.

hmmm... what do you mean by "worthy"? our Lady IPU IS God, the creator. i hope you don't discriminate my religious feelings.
and no, i haven't seen Her, noone can see Her, as She's invisible. but there's evidence that she sometimes leaves a sign of Her Pinkness in washing machines. true believers also sometimes experience the loss of socks, which is a sign of future benedictions. -

to your comment I ask why??? I believe God exists for my own personal & very real expereinces - therefore how would one prove to me he doesn't exist???
loubelle, that's pretty simple. just replace "God" with something else and you'll understand.
i believe in our Lady Invisible Pink Unicorn (peace be on her hoofes). i believe She is pink. i know She is invisible, because noone has ever seen Her. but i know She's there. you can't prove She's not there, can you? there's even evidence for Her existence. sometimes She appears in washing machines, you know She was there when your white underwear comes out all pink. -

End of the World Near?
by love2Bworldly ini am wondering how many people out there still believe that in the next 100 years or so that this world/earth is going to be destroyed?.
my husband is a christian, and sometimes he is obsessed with world events in the middle east and he thinks one day soon all the christians are going to be raptured away to heaven while the antichrist rules here on earth.
i am extremely uncomfortable when he talks about it because it reminds me of the jws.. any thoughts out there?
