My observation about long-lasting topics is two-fold.
1. Asking a personal opinion encourages participation. So, ASKING is more inviting than TELLING, teaching or pontificating.
2. Hitting a nerve by challenging a deeply felt BELIEF or VALUE will get you tremendous push back.

Watchtower leaders remind me of the lady who lived in our neighborhood when I was a kid.
She couldn't stop fooling with her hair.
The color was red one day and jet black the next.

She wore it long. She cut it short. She curled it and straightened it.
She bought all sorts of frightening wigs, too.
The lady would show up at the door and ask my mom, "So, what do you think?"
The only difference with the Governing Body's inclination to change, warp, distort, interpret, nullify and expand doctrine and teaching

The point being: WHAT REALLY IS the thing which constantly changes in actuality, but is always called the same thing?

But, in the case of channeled TRUTH--we are dealing with (supposedly) the absolute mind of the living God.
OLD LIGHT is a counterfeit patch on the reality of FALSE INFORMATION.
at what point in the average person's life does he/she reach a crossroads between purposeful pursuit of a life's goal and mad fanaticism?.
we have all known these automatons; these uber-witnesses.. we might even have been one ourselves!.
the uber-witness can make an excuse for any watchtower mistake at the crack of a whip!.

'wordly' wife instead of the subjection-martyr Sisterhood of witnessdom. You know how it goes, "In the country

the first two articles of the magazine in subject use, in my opinion, the word "legal contract" too often.

The Jehovah's Witnesses can thank the LEGAL mind of "Judge" Rutherford for the appropriation
of such legalese as "witnesses" "District" assemblies "Circuit" servants and the promotion of the
idea that Jehovah's name was slandered and the witnesses must testify in order to restore His reputation.
Today's Society is pretty much monitored 24/7 by legal advisors and may even be run by lawyers for all we know.
i just watched it on dvd, and holy cow, i can see so many similarities to the watch tower!
i don't want to give anythng away for those who would like to see it, but i really wish the way it ended was a possibility in watch tower world..
Try reading the book by Ira (Rosemary's Baby) Levin titled THIS PERFECT DAY;
the New World Society-ish vibe is uncanny.

when i was a kid, it seemed like not a meeting went by when you didn't hear about jonah or sampson and other tall tales from the bible.. now though, they seem to have been sidelined.
i guess the rest of the world caught on to the fact that these stories couldn't possibly be true and were so far fetched (yeah, even by bible standards) that they are just treated as 'stories' like aesop's fables.
saying that you believe in them as genuine accounts just makes you look like a crazy zealot.. but the wts is different.
There is a strong possibility today's Jehovah's Witnesses is pig ignorant, is there?
Do these people read, memorize, reflect, discuss, debate? I'm going to guess the answer is negative.
Without a core of basic, fundamental knowledge (which would include history, of course) there is not much
to hang one's faith on.
Oh wait!

Today's modern JW has THE ORGANIZATION to believe in. The Org does all the reading, studying, analyzing and reflection
FOR THE OTHERS.
So, the rank and file is just an empty vessel.
They KNOW nothing, like the character of LENNY in OF MICE AND MEN.
They just want to hear the same story over and over about how great it is going to be when they get to where they're going.
"Tell me about the rabbits, George. Tell me about the rabbits."
yesterday i had a conversation with a man and lady who were with a literature cart in our local town centre .
among other things discussed was the accuracy of the nwt , which i said wasn't very accurate.. the man , of course , led the discussion from the jw perspective and looked up on his phone some quotes from "experts " endorsing the translation .
he asked the lady to make note of the names , at my request, so that i could check these quotes later .
Today's JW's seem to "know" nothing.
They are empty vessels.
Without a publication nearby they are but the sound of wind blowing through an empty cave.
Jesus directed his disciples to carry nothing with them, not even a bag.
I assume the disciples knew something when asked.
