Leander-
I'm not sure if you were around this forum when my story appeared.
The thread is titled "I am publicly reproved over UN situation".
Last Thursday night my wife and I were both publicly reproved. In my wife's case she was guilty of no more than talking privately to a friend about the UN involvement and also a pedophile situation that she knew of. This was enough for her to see that this is NOT Go's organization, but one of MEN who are paranoid about any negative or critical information. We realize now that we were living a fantasy.
The "loving" Elders suddenly transformed into something not unlike the Taliban. There is a zero tolerance policy in place within the organization for anyone who dares to question the authority.
Think carefully if this a healthy mental environment???

Reasons why its so hard to break from the WTS
by Leander ini'm still sitting on the fence trying to figure out which direction to go in.
i think one of the reasons i have'nt left yet is because of the fact that i'm not entirely sure that the wts is really not god's organization.. some of the reasons why i feel that way is because of their insight on the scripture.
i've never heard of any other religion attempt to decipher the prophecies in the book of daniel and revelations.

Kent, Randy, Steven Bates, & everyone who worked on this,
I am so grateful that you have relentlessly pursued these documents. They have been very important to me and my wife personally as we are still making the mental exodus out of the org.
What a pack of lies we were told! Just wanted to let you all know I appreciate what you are doing.Randy, thanks a lot for the book, Releasing the Bonds - I really like what I'm reading so far. As you said, I can see that this will speed up our recovery time. Thanks again pal!

Public Reproof will be made as scheduled.
by badwillie ini want to let all of you know that we have decided not to contest the elders decision to publicly reprove us tonight.
after a lot of thought, we feel in the long run that by letting this go ahead it will only make the elders and the organization look guilty, not us.. the elders have basically ordered us not to talk about what our "crime" is with anyone.
so we have decided that we will tell others what our crime was not, i.e.

We plan on sticking around at least for 1 meeting a week for now.
We don't think an attempt to "expose" anything would be worth the risk.
I have 6 close relatives still in the org, my wife has 3 close relatives still in. So to get DF'd is NOT an option. I think what people are forgetting sometimes is that we still love these people. That's why this is so frustrating. Of course I would love for everyone to know that we are right and that we aren't guilty of gross sin. But as you say, they wouldn't believe anything we say anyway.

Seeker,
I appreciate those sentiments. Someone here posted that I have 7 years in which I could pursue legal action. One thing to note here:
The elders took action not for us merely LOOKING at the information. But for us SHARING it with others, and also trying to interpret what it all meant. Don't forget, my sharing the UN thing with my friend spawned a 2 hour conversation where we covered everything from Beth-Sarim to Ray Franz and beyond. This was a 2 way discussion however. The elders are aware of EVERYTHING that was discussed. When they interviewed my friend about it, he did make it clear to them that it was not my intention to try to persuade or convert him to my way of thinking in any way.
