Missing the UK

hi all - i've only posted here a couple of times - i'll post my story at some point.

i know quite a few people on this site are from the uk.

i (and my husband / 3 kids) lived in the uk from 2000 - 2002 and returned back to our home in minnesota 4 months ago.

I lived in N.London from 1991-99.

I miss:

* Only Fools and Horses

* Late night BBC shows (i.e. that music show with Jools Holland..?)

* Strolling around Covent Garden

* Regents Park in the Spring

* Piccadilly Circus/Leicester Square on a hot summer night after a movie.

* Fish and chips/Kebabs in Stoke Newington.

.... too mention only a few.

The Pain of my Daughter

my oldest daughter wrote this to her father to show her pain of his choosing his religion over her.

of course, once he read the letter he told her he has just choosen jehovah.

she wanted me to share this with all of you, and especially if there are any jw's that are lurking on this board, to show what a child feels when religion is more important than your children.. dear daddy;.

I have pain too at times because I lost my youngest sister and middle sister both of whom I cared for a lot (and still do). And now I have a lovely 2 year old boy that they are missing out on. But things will never be the same as long as the WT has their minds. I feel for you.

Elder Resigns Because Of 9---11

last night i talked to an elder that resigned early this year and he told me that he resigned as an elder because of 9--11. he felt that after seeing thousands of people dying in such a horrifying way, there was just no way god would destroy 99 and 9 tenths of the world and only spare jehovah's witnesses.

he also felt that since the kingdom message could not be adequately preached by a handful of jw's so that people could get life, the whole thing is a sham.

he no longer goes to meetings and his wife crys to everybody about her husband.

That September I was still in my "infancy" of finding out the real deal about the JW's. Sept 11 definitely helped me to see that there was no way that God (if there was one) would do this type of thing many times over around the world. I cried (like many) observing the events of that day - then felt relieved to know that would never be an Armageddon (.."real soon") as the JW's teach.

Woman who studied with my mother: (age: 81)

My mother: age 57

My aunt: age: 53

My mother's close friend: age 47

My mother's other close friend (and former student): age 45

Another student of my mother: age 45

These are all females living in the Philadelphia area.

Junk in the Trunk

"junk in the trunk" is a term (at least in the u.s.a.) that refers to a woman who has a nice, big butt.. however, i am talking about literal junk in your trunk (or "loot in your boot" for you brits).. remember those days that you lived as a jw?

remember sticking lots of literature in the trunk of your car just in case jehovah "led" you to a "sheeplike" person?

Yeah, I remember the reams of literature in the trunk. The tracts were especially useful for wiping off the dipstick when checking the oil.

American Women.

what is it about american women?.

they sound so sexy!.

i've had a few conversations with american posters lately, and found it to be a highly enjoyable experience, but the ladies voices!

there is a movie that was out about 7 years ago called "American Women" ...it is HILARIOUS.

The plot is all having to do with exacctly what you are all talking about..it takes place amongst a bunch of you ng Irish lads in a small fishing village.

get it , watch it.
