The government of Alberta employment site has some excellent links for interview questions. I use it a lot when I'm preparing. I've gone on a dozen interviews in the past few months. I find I get a lot of the STARS behavioural description questions. "Tell me about a project where you had a conflict with a supervisor and how you handled it". At almost every interview I've had "tell me what you did to prepare for this interview", which is something I pay a lot of attention to. I research the company/branch, anything newsworthy, and I think up questions to ask them.

One of the strangest questions I had on an interview for a prison psychologist position. They asked me what my favourite movie was and why.

I take it this means you got invited for an interview for the job you applied for Iamallcool?

Pioneering - the best job in the world!

how often did i hear those words at circuit or district assemblies - that pioneering was the best job in the world?

how often did i hear a fake job advert for pioneering where there was 100% job satisfaction working for the most powerful person in the universe and you'd get to travel the world and live forever.... i've done both jobs and would say that the job advert should more honestly read like this:.

secular job.

I pioneered for several years. It was one of the more difficult jobs I've held in my life. My aunt, however, pioneered for around 50 years. A factor contributing to her death was loss of lung function from going out preaching in the cold when she was told not to stress her lungs. Gotta get those hours in!

But she seemed content enough with the life job she chose. And she had other opportunities. She was a court reporter (very prestigous job back in the day)

Urban legend? Or did this really happen when they renovated The Towers?

my ex-husband was in bethel when the society bought and started renovating the towers hotel in brooklyn.

my family stayed there when the society was renting a few floors - the place was beyond flea-bag - and people actually lived there.

once the society took possession of the building they started renovating, and of course the residents had to be evicted.

For some reason I vaguely recall hearing that story. So I guess it likely belongs in the urban legend category.

i have had to make some very difficult decisions in recent days.

in one way i feel good about takeing care of myself and my mother who is on her dead bed in the room next to me.

mom has live with me since 2005 and started to make her journey to the other side on christmas day.

A comment, Roberta, about hospice. WE could have easily cared for my mom at home till the end. She chose hospice. I wish she wouldn't have, because it lent an element of the impersonal into her final days. I think you actually have a privilege to be there in your own home with her now. But I"m glad you have hospice coming. I don't know what it's like where you are, but I hope you are receiving as much support possible from them.

The time you spend easing your mom's way out of this world is no different than the time she spent in labour bringing you into this world. It's a privilege and a gift that you can see her through to the end. Keep strong. You have many of us sharing your burden and extending our hands and hearts.

Would Elders You Knew Have Ordered Stonings If They Could Have?

for those of you who used to be jws, or who are active, if the society was in charge of the earth, how many people do you think you would have seen stoned during your lifetimes?

i realize some elders can be zealous about their work, but if they'd actually had administrative authority to have kh members stoned to death, how many elders did you know who would have been zealous enough to really order them?.

did you know any elders who would have ordered stonings, even if the condemned people had been willing to repent?.

I might believe your boohoo, I'm sorry, aguest. But I was one of many who were appalled at what you said to greiving parents whose schizoprhenic son took his life. And then you deny it and remake the past over on your most recent voices thread. Then you imply that a long-time poster here who you seem to have personal issues with is going to have a breakdown and that forum participants will be bloodguilty when...I guess? that poster also takes her life? Shame on you. THat's a horrible thing to say.

I was away from this forum for a long time. I didn't know you from Adam, even though I was a regular participant here almost ten years ago. I only became aware of you when you chose to disrupt people here who were grieving for OOmpa.

I don't know what kind of game you are playing nor what character you think you are portraying, but there are many, many of us here who are silent and are seeing what you are doing with increasing dismay. You need to take your voices and go back to your own forum and stop trying to convince people here that you have some kind of pipeline to god or jesus or whoever. EVeryone knows where to find you if they really want to follow your religion. There are many vulnerable people on this forum who need to heal from the abuse heaped on them by the JW religion. I have no issues with you and your religion. I DO have issues with you trying to put it on vulnerable people.

Wow. You are really something, aguest. Pop onto this thread and imply that other posters on JWN would mete out a stoning treatment to you? Sorry, but I've seen you say some really horrible things to people here, yet you continue to be welcome on this forum (something that puzzles me to no end) and you continue to be treated with respect by people in this community. You weren't getting enough attention over on your voice-hearing threads so you had to come onto this one and insert yourself in the middle so people will feel sorry for you?

Forgive my rant. I'm really reaching the point where I've had enough.

Roberta - I went through this with my mom just this past June. I stayed with her pretty much every moment in the hospice for the final week of her life. I considered it a privilege to take that difficult journey with her, to answer her needs and be at her side as she breathed her last. Being able to do that helped me find peace afterward and I'm sure it will do the same for you.

You need to make your own decisions regarding other family members, and others have already made some good suggestions. I tried to just put all the JW animosity and ugliness aside and we all gathered together around my mom when she took her last breath, holding her hand, telling her we loved her. Even though she could no longer speak during the final 24 hours, I think it gave her great comfort knowing all the people she loved were there. Death truly is the great equalizer.

Your situation is not the same as mine, but I do understand what you are feeling and going through right now. To as great an extent possible, take care of yourself and lean on the supports you do have. My heart is with you.

Some might not have, but many would have, I think. An elder who can treat his DF'd child as invisible may as well have stoned him or her. Their hatred for anyone who is apostate is intense.
