Mind child, if the guy that stole it is a low life as you say, it should not be difficult to find out if it is him. It will not be conclusive but it will be very probable. (and hey - that's good enough for me)
You need to do what the undercover CID would do here in the UK. Watch and wait. This guys a low life yeah? Never got any money? What has he never got enough money for? What can't he afford? What does he never have enough of? food? clothes? tunes? going out on the town? or even drugs?
Just wait for him to slip up. It might take a couple of weeks. Wait for that new bracelet to appear, new leather jacket or sweeping engagement.
And watch him either make excuses for where he got the money or completely avoid telling you about the purchase alltogether. This will be your nail in the coffin!

I just got ripped off for two grand :-(
by Mindchild insometime yesterday or this morning, i was ripped off for $2,000 in cash.
the money was in an unlocked attache case inside my private room of a shared home.. i kept about $5,000 in cash in my attache case inside my bedroom.
yesterday, i spent about $2,000 of that money buying textbooks (this is my occupation), leaving $3,000 in two envelopes, one having $1,000 and the other $2,000.

Meet up in the UK this summer ?
by Simon insummer is nearly upon us and it would be great to arrange a 'get together' (wt speak) sometime so that some of us could meet up.
i thought i'd give plenty warning so that we can arrange something and get suggestions for venue etc .... i was thinking of a nice hotel (with a pool if pos) and nearby to somewhere suitable for a family day out.. people could just go for the day or stop for a weekend as they preferred and we could do things as families during the day and then have a meal in the evening, have a few beers etc .... we're near manchester but don't mind travelling for a couple of hours or so (we have 2 small kids) - in fact, it would be nice to go somewhere like wales, the lake district, the peak district ... you get the idea (just away from the cobbled streets and slums).. if anyone has any ideas or suggestions then let us have them!.
oh, and forget you're british!!!
