by Jesika inwell, i have been a memeber for a while.
thought the site was gone.. nice to see its still up and running.. learned alot here.. to summerize..........born into the jdub......got df'd at 15.... (am 34 now)on purpose (was molested by my uncle, so wanted out, saw the bs of covering that kind of thing up at an early age),.
dad was an elder, grandad was a po, etc.. left home after being df'd..........ran away....never to return....had a hard time learning how the " world" really was.. anyways......just glad to see this board is still around........just wanted to extend myself to anyone who needs to talk about abuse or the difficulty of "getting out".

Hi Jesika,
Glad you found help here, I know it was helpful to me when I found it years ago. Sounds like you had a tough time, what a terrible thing for a 15 year old to feel running away is better than staying at home. Abuse is something so easily covered over by the JW's I've seen it over and over.

We (my husband and I) went and watched fireworks at our town center. There was so many people there it was bumper to bumper people which surprised is since we live in a small town. The fireworks were beautiful and lasted a full 15 minutes.
My son went partying last night twisted his ankle and is laying wounded on the couch, ice packed up and moaning. He got me up at 7:30 am "Mama can you get me an ice pack, tylenol". So no matter how old they got if they don't have a wife or girl friend they still need mama. LOL Oh to be 22 yrs old again. The party sounded rowdy and loud and I'm glad it wasn't here.

Finally finding my way out...
by cognac inwell, its been about 2 1/2 years and have slowly done less and less.
i've been to about 30 minutes of a meeting in the last month and a half where i stayed out back and with my daughter.. i've been looking for the right timing to leave but had decided i will go anyways by the time my daughter is about 1 years old.
but, it just so happens that my some members of my family including and mostly my parents have actually given me a good enough of an excuse to get out.. they have broken to many rules.

Not allowing ourselves to be held hostage to religious ideas just because we were raised in it raises up your critical thinking and opens new doors. Glad your finding your way Cognac.

Well of course the WT is baloney. I've seen the harm porn on the internet has caused one of my sons. He has an addictive personality and went at the porn to the same zeal he does everything.

Mormon vs JW experience
by thraxer68 ini was browsing some ex-mormon forums and i noticed that many of the experiences sound similar.
people spoke about brain washing, viewing outsiders as being ignorant of the truth, im not sure if im allowed to copy and paste from other forums, if im not please let me know but here are a couple quotes from ex mormon forums:.
"something i very strongly believe, is that even though everything has crumbled to the ground for me right now, i wouldn't change the fact that i left the church for anything.

I remember when I left in 2001, I began to talk to mormons then I did some research on them and found ex-mormons felt just like we did when we left the jw's. Brain washing used to be touted as a good thing in the jw's you know we got our brain washed by Jehovah weekly. Now looking back it was hardly funny. Thanks god some of us are waking up and finding a good life and are no longer trapped, depressed, loosing out on life.

Consequences for remarriage if "unscripturally" divorced???
by compound complex ingreetings, fellow posters, happy couples, resigned singles:.
i know many of you are happily partnered, irrespective of wt rules and regulations on "appropriate" matches.. if you have had a so-called unscriptural divorce and are or were known as a jw, have you dated, lived with another person - a "significant other" - or remarried?.
if you can answer "yes" to any of the above, what were the consequences for you amongst jw family and friends?.

I left my JW husband in 2001, I admitted to adultrey so he would be free to remarry even though it had not happened yet. I wanted a complete and total cut in the marriage. I knew I would likely never return to the witnesses. One elder told me the rules stated that a person could not be considered for reinstatement if it was adultrey for 10 years. I left, I married my childhood sweetheart and have never regretted my decision. My ex-husband who was a ministerial servant at the time I left was free to remarry after I left him and we were separated for 1 year. He has married another JW woman.
I simply wanted no more ties to my ex-husband nor did I want my marriage to him left intact when I left. I did lie but it was necessary so far as I was concerned.

I need some advice...regarding my jw dads funeral
by happyexjw ini could really do with some sound advice regarding my dad who is a long serving jw and his funeral arrangments.. my dad is in his last stages of cancer and has been talking with the elders about his funeral and with his family.
because a lot of his family are not jw's and that myself and my sister are both disfellowshipped.
he has chosen to have his funeral at the crematorium and hold a memorial at the kingdom hall a few days after.

I know when my son died the Elder who gave the talk made it all about preaching to those there and nothing about my son was hardly said. I wanted to rip his throat out the dirty lousy creep. My now ex-husband had asked this elder to do the funeral service it was such a terrible mistake.
They won't want you at the KH for the memorial service. You will have some control at the crematorium though. Hope you get a chance to tell your Dad how much you loved and appreciated him before he passes. I know I got to with my Dad and he didn't want any funeral service at all and he was non-religious entirely.

Disfellowshipping - But You KNEW About It Before You Were Baptized!
by Georgiegirl instarted a new topic b/c i didn't want to threadjack another ongoing pointless debate.
:) (isn't it interesting how the apologists all come out around dc time?).
i have seen that statement made over and over again by jws about disfellowshipping.

When any JW starts questioning the JW teachings or the authority of the GB, the Elders will look for any thing to disfellowship or will ask the person to disassociate themselves before they can talk to other JW's about their questions.

Elder "predicts" how many jws are going to live
by XPeterX inparents went to a jw gathering to read the wt for this week.a jw said that only 5 people out of 125 in my congo will survive armageddon and then that elder said: "no,not 5 people, maybe 20".
damn i don't have words for him.

Yah I remember those scary Circuit Overseers talks when they came around telling us most of us would not make it that only the most loyal and faithful would survive. I often thought so what is the point of putting forth the effort, I'll just go home and wait for the end and relax. LOL
