something on the song thread that i posted, song by tu pac, got me to thinking about racisim.
why do people discriminate against people that have different color skin?
i understand it is a learned response, but my "elder" father is very racist... and this is how i was raised.. i don't get it.
I don't think it will help just to avoid the words "black" and "white". People are different, and we should try to embrace the differences. Denying ones colour is in my opinion just as bad as being condescending about ones colour.

hello everybody.... i was disfellowshipped about 8 years ago at the age of 19.i was raised in the truth by my mother.my father was a non-believer.i willfully left of my own free will.to this day i still believe it's the truth.i've got a question for all you doubters...if the wts was truly in it just for the money,then why the hell would they be so strict?
?if they wanted millions upon millions of members,then why not loosen up the requirements a little?
?why not allow gays like other churches?to me,the fact that the organization is growing with requirements as strict as they are says something.and about the child abuse issue...remember ancient israel had some pretty corrupt priests and leaders but jehovah still claimed them as his people.just because the elders fuck up doesn't mean the whole organization is bad,right?anyway if you ask me i place the blame on the abused kids' parents and the elders.why the hell didn't the parents go to the police?fuck the elders.i'll tell you what...if i was in the truth again and a witness touched my 5 year old daughter the last place i would go would be to the elders.i'd be headed straight for my gun cabinet or the police.any thoughtful answers would be appreciated.
Just some thoughts:
What about when the parents are the abusers?
And about the money, if the organization was honestly into saving people and not making money, then why won't they show records? Why won't they show a financial report, they are not being honest about that.
And didnt Jesus say that you could recognise the tree by its fruit? You said yourself the elders suck so...

But the law is a bit different here in Holland. If my dad wanted to sue for emotional damage, he would need to prove in court that due to the Borg, I would be severely mentally damaged, like in need of psychiatric help. That does not apply to me, so he would have no case on those grounds.
He could make a case in suing for slander, but since I was called a slut in an elderly meeting, I have no prove of that. Only one other elder was there, and I doubt it would work to call him for testimony.
I do like the idea of letting his attorney writing a letter, demanding an apology! It probably wouldnt work a bit, but I would love to make them sweat! Thanks for the suggestion.
But it is just the fact that he got so angry at their audacity for calling me a slut... That took me by surprise and makes me want to smile all day long. It feels so good to have him back me up, defending me. Also LB, I think youre a great daddy saying I think daddy should kick their ass. I know he would love to do exactly that. It's a daddy thing. That is so sweet!

I just got home from a business trip with my dad. We went to London, did business (well he did, I just played pretty) and we went sightseeing afterwards. Naturally I told a lot about the Borg, how my disfellowshipment took place and somewhere I told him that the elders had called me an immoral slut
He nearly exploded! He was biting of his words asking where the hell they had the nerve to call me that! Threatened to sue them and all things like that. I was just smiling at him while he ranted on about the Borg,... I like it so much that my daddy is standing up for me.
