i was just appointed an elder this summer.

i started discovering the ttatt (the truth about the truth) last year after putting a few things together myself concerning the leadership and then doing some research online.. i really enjoyed jwfacts.com, jwsurvey, and others.

I know that "SICK FEELING IN THE PIT OF THE STOMACH!

I got it first at the 1993 A$$embly when they changed the "When you see these tHings", which made me suspect they would dump the Generation of 1914.

When the Witchtower came out changing the generation teaching, I felt sick. Getting up for work in the morning felt like torture - I neede to lie down and come to terms with the fact that we had all been hoodwinked. Over the next few years I began to DRINK whilst attending the kingdumb hell. It was the only way I thought I could stay sane: drink enough so you dont think too hard.

Then i got the Encyclopedia Brittanica CD. looked up JWs, and started the journey away.

latest news from a source (missionary in foreign land):.

no more missionary homes anywhere in the world.. all missionaries presently in missionary homes must vacate.

must get housing on your own / from the locals.. circuit and district overseers have moved into many of these former missionary homes.. reasons: liability, cost savings, real estate to be sold or used for other purposes.. needless to say, many of these longtime servants are very unsettled.

in fact its the most exciting thing that has happened in a very long time.

The "noolite" on the parables is actually centuries old light for the Churches of Christendom.

Read any of their Bible encyclopedias, this is the "understanding" they have been teaching for a long time.

Funny how what the Churches teach (according to the Botchtower) is "basically worthless", yet Satan's Evil Spirit gave them this truth, and the annointed in heaven have only just managed to get this through to the twats in Brooklyn.

Do you detect an underlying sadness ?

whenever i talk to jw's, and even in some of the jw official videos, i detect a definite vibe of sadness coming off these people.. i am very sensitive to "atmospheres" and to peoples emotional state, you wouldn't think so, because more often than not i do not react to what i detect, i just let people get on with it.. but i do get this feeling that they are sad, probably because very, very, very deep down they realise that it is all false, maybe ?.

There is nothing to look forward to in the immediate future.

I have been on buses and trains on meeting nights, and seen them going to the Kingdumb Hell, they didnt know me so showed themselves as miserable sociopaths, who dont even acknowledge the existence of the other passengers if they can avoid it. UNLESS THEY WANT YOU TO TAKE A PIECE OF LITTERATURE.

And yes- they all look miserable and sad. Including the piousneer, who went round the loop on the subway twice - I sat and watched out of curiosity.

He kept looking at his watch, presumably to see if his hours were finished. I should have said something.

so, i am talking to a long time friend, you know, the non-judgmental type that doesn't really mind that i don't go to many meetings and am never out in service.

he tells me that the annual meeting is coming up and that the whole congregation is invited...well, at least the active "approved" whole congregation.

he speaks with an excitement that puzzles me, like he just got invited to the locker room of his favorite football team when they won the superbowl.

The AGM is described as "HISTORIC". Another version of the NWT is just another version, they have released these in the past.

Is it historic because for the first time it is being transmitted around the globe?

As for the OS taking the emblems, they did point out in a WT study that John 6 applies not only to the heavenly class but also to those who receive an earthly resurrection.

I vote for a major change in doctrine - unless it is just hyping up the sheeples so they think even less.

Another thing that has not been highlighted is that penetrative sex with a minor has been a crime since the middle ages.

Men were sent to prison for this back in the 50s too.

Caressing a child was not seen as permanently damaging. In Dawkins and his contemporaries case obviously not. Nowadays this is seen as inappropriate invasion of personal space, and recognised as such.

Teachers of physical skills such as gymnastics or playing a musical instrument now have to say WHY and HOW they intend to touch a child, what this will accomplish, and then ask permission to do so. I think this is a big step forward, as it eliminates any ambiguity.

An excellent novel dealing with this is called "The Abomination" I forget the author.
