i read a very interesting article on stem cell research and the possibility of it being used to cure cancer, but you'd be using your own blood.
it part, it says:
cord blood is easily defined as blood retrieved from the umbilical cord after the birth of the child.
Stem cells can also be made by cloning dna from cheek lining cells. No blood involved.
Unfortunately the word embryo is used to describe the cluster of cells produced - this presses so many hot panic buttons in the Fundo brain that further discussion is impossible.

The scripture in Mark refers to Jesus, not Jehovah. I had no problem saying I accepted the teachings of Christ.
But, no I didn't ram the JW thing down anyones throat.

english really has no satisfying mechanism to do this.
i'm talking about sentences in which you're speaking of a hypothetical person and you must identify him with a pronoun.
there are several options available, all equally unsatisfying:.
Their or They was widely used in 17th c England. Many civic documents use it. It was Victorian grammarians seeking to codify the language in line with latin who brought in the form so popular in the WT, along with "It is I" (not "it's me")
Even Shakespeare used it ( but i'm too tired to find the quote)
German has preserved the form in the 'Ihr' part of verbal declension.

Was it Little toe who was approached at the elders school, and confronted on the basis of information the WTS had gleaned on an aposto web site?

my parents went to the assembly this weekend.
they were telling me about disciplining children... the speaker was saying how all babies are born selfish and demanding for their own needs and not anyone elses.
the jist of the talk being about discipline, and training children ...ie taking them out for a good beating.. well, i don't know if any of you have ever 'just seen red!
One thing to consider:
In one sense this kind of Witness (witless) upbringing works in that it doesn't work.
The vast majority of JWs brought up like this leave, and of those only a TINY %-age returns.
Strange they keep quoting "bring up a boy etc" even tho the evidence is slapping them across the face that their way of indoctrinating kids don't work no more.
Recently I have been thinking of getting a social worker to pose at the meeting as an 'interested person' who phones the cops when a kid goes out for a beating. That would make Sunday AM interesting.
I wonder how long it will be before the WTS advises caution on beating children up in the Kingdom Hell.

So don't be taken in at assemblies when you see little toddlers sitting like little angels, not even drawing or playing quietly.

I'd rather be dead my way than alive in that God's way.
The universe is so vast that it would be good to live long enough to explore it, but realistically "memento mori". Ain't no way past that.
As to what happens after death I am content to wait and see (or otherwise)
This life is enough of a question without making up Watchtoweresque ones bout eternity.

Your wife will obey you on not studying the WTS teachings in the home but that doesn't mean she won't take them to the park and study with them sitting on a bench, or some witness kids' family inviting them round to 'play' or for a "Feast at a Barbeque".
She will obey only the letter of any agreement you make not the spirit.
She will employ "theocratic strategy" (others call it lying) and give you partial or incomplete information, and let you draw your own (Hopefully false) conclusion - after all no one forced you to understand what she said the way YOU decided to!
As she becomes even more indoctrinated she will tell you false information as you are a "wordling" and not entitled to be told the truth of what she is up to.(SEE Insight on the Scriptures under lying, and the WT on "Theocratic War Strategy")
Should a separation and custody battle ensue, the WTS has published a booklet used for priming kids to give answers in court or to social workers that makes the WTS sound just like any other mainstream church.
I wish you luck, but they are very cunning, and control peoples minds so well they even deny it. Tread carefully.
