LadyLee,
Congratulations! I have enjoyed your posts on this site and also on another one. As an abuse survivor, I also thank you for your Healing Pages. You are most certainly a treasure to the exJW community.
Very sincerely,

ok 20 years out only 10 years free (cuz sometimes i'm a slow learner).
yup may makes 20 years since i officially got the boot.
20 years since i lost my entire way of life and had to start all over - no money, no home, no education, no job.. there's a sad kind of irony here in that except for the education i'm sort of in the same boat.
LadyLee,

a simple question: do you hate the religion of jehovah's witnesses?
feel free to elaborate on your answer.. b.
No, I do not hate the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses. The way I see it, hate is counterproductive to my physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. If I hate a person or institution, I am, in a sense, giving that person or institution a measure of power over me. I choose not to allow that religion to have power over me anymore.
i know we have kinda met but this way people will know you are new ,welcome
Welcome to JWD, Sammielee24!
Hope you enjoy your time spent here!
this is my first post.
a week back, gary buss started a post on the gb's claim to assembly halls and kh's in the new org.
book.i find this interesting because the kh in the city i reside in has been up for sale for the past year.
morning glory,
Yes, I know of two Kingdom Hallls for sale in my area. Since this is a rather rural part of the state, the JWs are most likely going to have to travel a lot further to get to meetings. Since it's been over eleven yrs. since I left the JW religion and therefore do not know the reason for the sales of these KHs, I can only speculate on the reasons why.
However, when I attended a KH in a rural area while an active JW, I recall that KH was sold because of how few publishers and because they weren't "seeing any substantial growth". There was a lot of upset from the locals who had paid for and built that KH themselves and did not see one red cent from the sale....it all, of course, went to the WBTS. Some of the JWs from that congregation left the religion over that.
By the way...Welcome to the Board!
are there any other people here who are into bicycling or handcycling?.
last year, my husband got a handcycle (he can't use a bicycle due to handicap) and i got a new bicycle and we have been enjoying cycling.
last september, we went on our first cycling tour and did the 20 mile.
Thanks to everyone for all of your replies! It's really wonderful to know that there are others who are enjoying this sport as much as I am! There was some really positive input here and I appreciate it.
bikerchic: Now your screenname finally makes sense to me!Before, I thought maybe you were a tough, Harley biker gal!Sounds like you were really into the cycling for quite a while. Don't be down....I am trying to get my butt back into shape right now, too...ergo, the bicycling (and some other physical activities). I just keep telling myself, "You didn't get out of shape overnight so it's gonna take time to get back in shape." Yes, you are right....it really helps to have a partner to help me on the days I'm having a hard time getting going.
Princess: Wow! You and your husband sound like a couple of serious athletes! <<bows and chants, "I'm not worthy.">> The women at the KH were probably all super-jealous of your athletic physique! Am I right? I remember the women in my old hall were nasty to me for being young & attractive. Isn't it cool that we have more time now to pursue these fun sports & hobbies?
purplesofa: Sounds like you are doing it the smart way....just gradually work up to your goal. That's what I am doing, too. Just persistence and gradually increasing the mileage.
Mutz: Sorry to hear about your back injury. I could not link to the site you posted but I hope you can find a safe way to get your exercise now.
If I missed some people, I apologize. I am somewhat technically challenged & could not see the first page of posts while writing my reply. However, I thank everybody who responded to this topic. It is great to hear so much positive feedback from others about cycling. Kind of makes me even more revved about getting on the bicycle each day!

EvilForce: Yeah, that is why hubby & I like it...good workout and enjoying the beautiful scenery. We have a friend who is bigtime into it and rides over a 100 miles a day some days. He's talking about getting into racing now. I don't really think I want to get into racing but tours are cool.
Satanus: That sounds like a beautiful, scenic ride!
Thanks for the replies, you guys!

Last September, we went on our first cycling tour and did the 20 mile. We were out of state for a few months and did not bring the bikes with us, so we are now trying to get back into our regular training routine. We are pretty sure that we will be ready to do the 60 mile at that same September tour.
I welcome any cycling enthusiasts to reply!
hi everyone, another lurker comes out.
my question is, what is the big deal about going to high school prom?
other than the usual bad associations spoil useful habits, can anybody thing of other specific reasons why jdubs are so anti-prom.
I did not get to go to the prom and, I must admit, that it hurt me.....not as much as other things that I didn't get to do as an "exemplary" JW kid but it hurt me. My senior year, I was asked to the prom by a very good looking athlete whom I did not even know, up to that point, liked me. As a left out, unpopular JW kid, it would have felt good to have been on the arm of a star athlete and dressed to the nines.
<<feels sad remembering>>
Welcome to the board, bricklayer!
ugh.
it seems that the jw, along w/ other stuff, has led me to a solitary position in life ... how about you ... is that why you are here?
tonite?
talesin: Thanks for the pm. Check your Inbox.
((((((donkey)))))) Good to see you. I always enjoyed conversing with you in chat! I am sorry to hear you are having such a hard go of it. Best wishes to you and see you around!
