And when this dies down, I will have a scathing letter I will send to all family members denoucing them and their religion.

Mom Died -- and I found out from an old friend!
by BrendaCloutier inok, i'm writing this thru tears as i just found out in the last 5 minutes.
my dad died in august, and they had been together just 1 or 2 weeks over 70 years married!
i didn't expect her to last without him, and visa versa.. i just tried to call my sister, and no answer there.

Email I sent to my sister: I heard from Sheli by email. I wish I could have heard it from a family member. Please let me know the details. And especially when the service will be.

Email I received from my sister:I'm so sorry Brenda. We have all been so upset. Mom had a heart
attack about a month ago. She was staying with Feezer and Mary as
their house is all on one floor and they have extra bedrooms and
bathrooms. We thought she was doing better and off and on she really
was. They had trouble trying to regulate her medications and that made
her sick too. The heart attack did much damage to her heart and also
her kidneys. She had to go back into the hospital 2 more times after
the initial hospital stay, but the last time she didn't come home. It
was all quite sudden and we thought we had a lot more time with her.
At her request, we aren't going to have a memorial service and to tell
you the truth, I'm not too sure I would even be able to go myself. I
am not handling this the best, but hopefully it will get easier in time.

My response. Thank goddess a close friend (a true friend) just called and stopped me from saying much more at this time.you should have let me know about her health. i am frustrated and angry. dammit! I should not have had to hear it from a non-family member. I have plenty more to say, but I will likely regret it if I do.

I don't know if it is any comfort to you or not, but our priest Mother Val told us that ALL will reconciled in heaven.
I believe that too. When my dad died in August, I was actually a bit "tickled" because then he "knew" what "it" is all about and how wrong (IMO) he was. Now my mom "knows". And they are both out of pain and in peace and with the "Universe".
(((( Hammie ))))
and ((((( EVERYONE )))))
Thank you.
feeling really weird right now. can't focus, so I took out the garbage. now I'll go take out the recycling.

Thank you .
This is what I expected when my dad passed -- it was my mom that called me a couple days after he died and told me. At least my sister could have emailed me - she has my email if not my phone number - and told me.
sniff. It was my dad who forced the shunning - good long-time elder that he was. I didn't shed a tear over his death. I had already shed enough over loosing him 30 years ago.

You Say I've Inherited What???
by Terry ini get a phone call last friday telling me there was a note pinned to the door of my old house (deserted and up for sale) saying to contact this person asap because i am an heir to something or other.. eventually, i get around to it this morning; i make the call.. it seems xto energy corporation is looking for me because i'm an heir to my great grandmother's mineral rights to a 4 acre strip of land in burleson texas.
the land is wanted for drilling purposes by the oil and gas drilling exploration team.. i met with the agent this morning.
he showed me my great grandmother's obituary and his copy of the family tree.

This sounds like a Perry Mason plot! LOL
Actually, I have heard of these things happening before. Get a good atty in land claims and mineral rights to review the offers, if you can, hopefully on contingency.

Republicans Changing their Emblem from an Elephant
by Elsewhere ini heard recently that the rnc is changing their emblem from an elephant to a condom since it more clearly represents the party's stance : it stands up to inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks and gives a sense of security while screwing others.. .

*snort*
Especially funny since they are no longer "in the House"....
(you know that elephant in the living room that no one wants to talk about? Now it will be the condom in the living room no one wants to talk about....)

Is there a bird watcher in the house?
by unclebruce inthis evening i went for a walk near the mouth of the bega river, several kilometres from my place.
i enjoyed the peace and took a few photos.. for several years the pelicans here were my concern (keeping an eye on them and occationally capturing them to remove fish hooks and the like.
while there a duck billed mud stinky arrived.

I love autumn and hate winter. About this time in fall I start steeling myself for winter.
We've had a "pinapple express" firehosing the Pacific NW the last several days. Temps as high as 70, lows low 60, and humidity in the 90's! Flooding all over the place. Give it 5 degrees more and it'd be Hawaii, except the rain here is colder.
Ahhh, Hawaii. We'll see you for a week in January! (dammit, only a week)
PS, yes, I wrote it, on the date indicated.

Still Groggy: Double Agent's Blog #001 - "Pressure Building"
by StillGroggy in(copied from my blog) .
anyone who's seen my posts on jwd knows that im an active jw whos married in the religion.
i recently started leaning my "family study" with my wife to a more free-thinking, personal researching mode.

Does anyone else think there's any significance to her bringing up "Im not brainwashed" Could that mean that she considers that she COULD BE. Because I NEVER used those words.
Maybe. I used to use expressions like that when I first got involved with the jws, and my friends used to accuse me of it. I later used to think it when I was having doubts, to convince myself I was a jw by choice, not because I was under mind control.
I would listen very carefully to what she has to say during the coming weeks and months, it could just be she isn't quite as certain of what she believes as she is making herself out to be. Perhaps there is more hope than you have been led to believe.
Ok, I think this just hit me over the head....
JW telling themselves they are Dub by choice and not brainwashed.
Alcoholic telling themselves they can quit any time they want to, they just don't want to because they like it too much.
In both cases, the person is sick. We could argue that JWism is a disease, but certainly a mental illness of sort, but alcoholism is certainly a disease.
I didn't mean to derail your thread, (((( StillGroggy )))).
