Hey Scoob, I understand the part about making Mom happy. Mine is sad all the time about me. I can't live the life though. I honestly believe there was a time when the Society was for the most part sincere. That time is long gone. Things have changed. I miss some things though, I don't think that being here means you have to think like everyone else. Otherwise we may as well just go back to the org.

happy elders who would tease me as a little girl and carry me from door to door.

Looking Back, Did You Neglect Your Family Because You Were In The "Truth"?
by minimus ini know many of us felt we were doing "god's work" and did not have to spend time with our families or even do things for ourselves.
our only focus was the ministry and the "truth"....... did you too, neglect yourself and your family??

Little Witch, I understand you feelings of isolation. I had a hell of a time in school, not even my parents began to know the degree as I never told them as I was embarrassed because I felt is was my fault. But....kids are mean, not just JW kids, those kids in school made my life hell! Where I live Baseball is not banned for JW's. Of course, you can't play on school teams, but with other JW's is ok. I think part of healing is letting go of the hate and hurt. That is why I started this thread. Just fyi

JW fun is at an all-time low
by Nosferatu inthere used to be much more enjoyable things in the jw religion that would give you some relief from the recycled information.
remember when there were two dramas at the conventions?
remember at the meeting, instead of having a public talk, a missionary would show slides from his recent trip, or there would be a movie shown from the wts?.

ConfusedJW you have the idea of what I am looking for. I do not believe any longer. I have anger, but nothing is all bad. Nothing is all good. Never say always and never say never. Come on guys there must be some happy moments! So what if my memories are based on people, that is ok as the org is made up of people I would have never known if I were not a JW. Some of you must have happy moments...let's hear about them. :)

As a little child, I was very neglected by extended family for the congregation. I tried so hard to win love from certain family members who were so preoccupied with being "helpful" in the congregation. They were very popular. I loved them and they didn't know I existed most of the time.

I got this idea from the thread about fun. You know, today is different, I have some good memories from years ago, cake after bookstudys, kiddie parties, intermissions, McDonalds for break at Field Service. Happy elders who would tease me as a little girl and carry me from door to door. Lunch's at assemblies and pudding and danish's. Now there are definite bad memories, let's forget those for now and share the happy times from the past of the Watchtower, please let's keep this thread positive.

Well, I just left a few years ago and there was still the occasional congregation picnic, once or twice a year. Of course not announced, just word of mouth. I used to like the intermission years ago at the meetings between the public talk and Watchtower. I remember cake after the bookstudy's. I used to like the windows too, air coming in. You know it wasn't all bad years ago. It has changed.

Anyone here work for an HR department anywhere and do hiring?
by neverthere inhey, no i am not looking for a job, just some advice.
i have found a job that i really want to apply for but i don't have all the qualifications, but i do have almost all of them.
have you ever hired someone without all the required qualifications and if so what made them stand out?.

anew
I just hired someone today who has very little qualifacations for the position. I used to work with her and I know her loyalty, work ethic and ambition.
My boss did not know me. I was not qualified for the position I am in. He has made an effort to train and coach me. He says that I came to him with enthusiasm and a positive outlook.
I believe in a lot of cases that attitude is EVERYTHING. There are those who would not agree with me. But that is my policy and my companies policy.
So there is my two cents. GO FOR IT!!!!

Do you believe in "same sex" marriage?
by Carmel inyesterday i tuned into espn sports radio and listened to a semi-political debate on several issues.
when "same sex" marriage came up one of the talking heads refrained that "all marriages are same sex.
" you get married and have the "same sex" over and over again!

No I do not. I would never practice hate or judgment. I have a person in my life who I love immensely and he is gay, I believe. However, marriage is a God arrangement and it is between and man and a woman. That is history. Marriage is the backbone of society. Just my opinion.
