I just cannot believe this. I grew up in org. They love to place mags and start studies with anyone. I think maybe they truly did not have another magazine. Never saw racism practiced in my 33 years in---not as a group at all!

Problem recieving Watchtower & Awake "again"
by Dolllie ini posted earlier in the summer about some "racist" witnesses who told me that i could not recieve the watchtower & awake magazines, or attend the kingdom hall, because i was black & blacks were not able to understand the bible, "it was not for them".. i wrote a letter to the watchtower society & got a response!.
i moved out of that immediate area, a couple of towns(about 40 minutes away).
i contacted the watchtower society after moving here to have someone bring me the watchtower & awake.

Do you believe it is wrong to celebrate Halloween?

i was raised a jw.
i now celebrate most holidays.

I can see both sides. I guess it all lies in how you look at it. I can't at this point reconsile myself to accept this holiday but I respect the opinions of those who can.

First, I apologize if this goes through twice, I cannot find the original post. My question is how do you feel about Halloween. I grew up as JW and never celebrated anything. I do now. I will not celebrate Halloween however as I believe it of the devil. The world acknowledges this and the holiday's origins undeniable. I would not allow my child to be involved in this one holiday as I do believe in evil spirits and want nothing to do with them. What do you think on this topic?

Thought I would throw this out to the board. I was raised a JW. I am not now. I now celebrate most holidays. I still will not celebrate halloween or if I had kids, I would not allow them. This is a holiday that the entire world acknowledges as being of the devil and associated with evil. So I want nothing to do with it. What is your opinions on the matter?

If You Found A Discarded Lottery Ticket In The Trash & It Was A Winner.....
by minimus inand you knew who it belonged to, would you view it as "finder's keepers"?
would you tell the person they just threw away a winner?
would you tell him, hoping for a reward??
-
anew
If the ticket were to fall out of someones purse accidently and it was a winner, I would definitely give it back. If they deliberately threw the ticket away--oh well--it's mine now. I made the effort to dig in the trash for it, so I guess I will keep it. If some bum digs in your trash and finds a nice leather wallet it is his. So I would be the bum digging in the trash for a lotto ticket!

Let's share the good memories from the org.
by anew ini got this idea from the thread about fun.
you know, today is different, i have some good memories from years ago, cake after bookstudys, kiddie parties, intermissions, mcdonalds for break at field service.
happy elders who would tease me as a little girl and carry me from door to door.

I wish I would have been on some A list. I did feel isolated as a teanager. We were not popular in the congregation and therefore no real true friends my age and of course I could not associate with the world. I remember when my cousin would visit for the District Convention from out of town. She was seven years older than me, but I always looked forward to that and had a great time.
