I haven't read every word in this thread but what "legal" reasons could they have for not informing you. Seems like calling your dad would be not ok.

i left in the 90's and marriage partners were similar in age at my former congregation.

i ran into a former jw friend from my childhood.

i haven't seen him in 15 years.

Ugh, at 25 with 2 children I still looked very young. I had more than one CO ( 45+) have someone introduce me to them. One CO followed me everytime I got up before he had someone introduce us. He was looking for a young virgin. (pervert)

I guess there are some perks for men in the Org , women are just chattel.

Some of us have reasons to be bitter. I try not to be mean but when they've destroyed 3 + generations of your family it is really hard to not be bitter. I don't really enjoy bitterness but it gives me a reason to get me up everyday. I guess I really do want an eye for an eye. won't say I'm sorry.

a statement that phizzy made on jonathan drake's thread on flyers gave me the following ideas.. we should make a flyer on the issue of the watchtower pedophilia issue written with the object of alerting the public about the jw door to door activity.

phizzy suggested the title, "the paedophile at your door".. on that flyer should be the contact information of our most informed member on the subject who's willing to talk to the media.

Other groups may very well have as much sexual molestation but they don't go door to door and conduct Bible studies . Jws are a higher risk due to this. I would gladly do this but check your city ordinances as where I live you must have permission from city to leave things at doors, except jws and other religions.

Yes in usa can leave them on the doors ,under matts etc. Just not In mailbox.

I've received on offer to buy the WT and some time later a tract was left under the door mat , all this in 12yrs. and before that I seldom recall seeing anyone around the neighborhood . I was so livid when I left that I may be on their DNC list.

Reading all this the last few days made me recall Sinead O'Conner. Many might recall she went on SNL and tore up a picture of the then Pope. She got a lot of blowback b/c of that but she was right. I really admire her for her stance on child abuse within religion. I recall the song she sang, " Fire on Babylon" and I dedicate this to Candace and all who are fighting organized religion for protecting child abusers and molesters.

Also the judgment in this case will help those future lawsuits non in on. . It may also be something that needs to go to the supreme court for a final ruling. I think that if someone has been convicted they should be on the sex register list so that is a warning. In some many cases molesters get away with a lot before they are caught ( if ever). I would think that if there had been complaints against someone the elders would have a duty to warn those with children under 18 but not sure how this could be accomplished. We can't just go vigilante on everyone, In the end, parents will be held responsible.

also, it needs to be pursued b/c registered sex offenders should not be allowed in field service and that is just obvious.

As I think I have stated somewhere else, this put the onus on the parents. The parents are responsible as far as the WTS is concerned anyway. I think this will come down to anyone under 18 will not be allowed to work in FS or other activiess unless with a family member. The new shepherding book says that no one should prevent anyone nor sanction them if they report a child molester to police or other agencies. So as far as they are concerned, they have it covered. Parents should just assume their may be a perp while attending the KH and FS and will have to keep their children by their side OR they will be held responsible for whatever happens to them at kH or FS .
