Any dealings with car dealers out there
by barry inive been in the business of buying a new car.
most dealers have been ok to deal with but one bloke acted like a right clown.
i asked him for a quote, i could tell he wasnt going to better the price i had much at all but offering me very little over the quote i already had, in fact in a very short time he had the price above the price of a compeditor and i was having to pay $600 more for the color i wanted, and to top it all off if i didnt make the deal then and there the deal whould have to be completly negotiated again.

I told him in no uncertain terms I wouldnt be talked down too and I dont appreciate high pressure sales people.
Tomorrow we will pick up a new Holden Equip but not from that dealer. At a good price too. Oh, and he phoned me the other day wanted to know if he could be of some help. I said I would give him an opportunity to quote next time, and all he wanted to do was make me feel guilty, you know 'I thought we were mates' I said, Well Arent We.
Anyone have any dealings with car salesman? Hope I dont offend any of the good ones out there. Barry

Guns in church
by onacruse inutah law dictates that concealed weapons are allowed in a church, unless the church has posted a written ban at the entrance, or has registered with the state as a "restricted zone.".
us constitutional issues obviously come into play here, and even opinions about self-defense in unknown situations.
one person said: "what better invitation to a terrorist to attack a church than to let it be known far-and-wide that there are no weapons for self-defense in that church?".

WHAT?S SO AMAZING ABOUT GRACE? Yancey
by yesidid ini found it the most upbuilding, faith-strengthening book i have ever read.
particularly coming from the judgmental wt system, it was like a comforting refreshing stream in which to bathe.
i know that many on this board no longer believe in god or the bible.

Yancey was brought up in a legalistic perfectionistic religion a bit like the witnesses and these books are in part a story of his own experiance. Ive never read his books but that is what people who have read them have told me. Barry

Bonny Clyde, Why not take a diffeent tack on this one Im an SDA and at the beginning of our church a time was made for the second comming of christ in 1844. By talking about the SDAs you are not being too confrontational and I feel they would see that 1975 should be looked at more clearly. The date of 1844 is now reffered by Adventists as the date of the Great Dissapointement and the date is caculated by some of the same principles as 1914 [year day principle and is taked from Daniel 8.14 ]
Here are some of the sad personal experiances by beleivers back before 1844 waiting the night before 22nd October 1844.
And Jesus said; If thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Third Revelations three.
Yes brother. Watch for Him. He will come in the clouds of Heaven.
And with them that are raised from the dead. First Corinthians fifteen fifty two and first Thessalonians four sixteen Sister.
There was but half an hour to sunset. THe portly Moses Clark who had once been chairman of the land commissioners at Landoff, suggested they should form the waggons in a cross. This was accomplished without the help of their discarded horses. They had the advantage that the rows of the seated now faced each of the quarters of the compass, and wondered why they had not thought of it before. Nathaniel Brett took up the count-down that was once the delight of the wag by the fence. Old Amos and Martha Gower held each others sparce hands. Mad Mary Chase prettied her little ones.
They sang and they sang and the sun absconded with their dreams.
Darkness fell silent. Adin Shortbridge rested his hand on the empty space beside him. George Florida, A blacksmith whose hot trade had numbed the breath in his throat so he had not been able to sing, fingered his collar. Within a week the Boston Liberator will report that he had hung himself with a chain. Mad Mary Chase nursed the youngest three of her daughters all together. Already she had started to cry. The same newspaper will record her finding under the dray, tomorrow morning, the bodies of the other two children dead from cold.
Hitam Edson will recall, in a memoir. the way they passed the long night. They wept until the dawn came up.
Continued silence from the church is an increasing distraction for them all. An hour after sundown , William Miller strode inside, alone, and has not yet come out. His brow was heavy. The corn of Adventist farmers stands unshucked in the field because he advised them so . Potatoes lie wet in the ground, their unweaned heifers follow irritable cows, their store-rooms are dark and empty, their windows are boarded over. They are in the eyes of the world a people jilted by their Redeemer.
William Miller led them here. He led them into error, but the sound they now await is that of his invigorated step to the church door.
Date setting has allways brought dissappointement Barry

20 hours of work about to turn to sawdust...
by FMZ inwell, i just finished building my first model airplane from scratch.
all in all, it has taken probably a little over 20 hours to construct, cover, and finish.
i have got all the rc gear in there, gas engine fitted, and it is ready to fly.. but... i'm scared!
-
barry
Gday FMZ,
Dont try to fly it yourself go to a club they usually have experts there who will teach you to fly with a buddy box system.
Ive got three planes flying myself all radio control.
I had a pilots licence when I learnt to fly models and beleive me the models were much harder to fly. I would crash a model right in front of my passengers and then take them up in a cessna 172. Barry

WTBS attitude towards vegetarians ...
by El blanko in.
having flirted with meat off and on through my life, but mostly conforming to the vegetarian standard (due to the obscenity for the most part that is the meat industry) - i noticed when serving with the society, that i came under fire from the brothers.. my moral arguments about cutting down on meat consumption based around the factory farming methods were cast aside and often sneered at.. "well god gave us the right to eat meat" was the usual line i had to swallow down.. have any of you guys faced the same situation?

One question. Why do vegetarians make there food look and taste like meat shouldnt they develope there own unique flavours.
