Has being a Witness made it hard for you to love Jesus?
by jwfacts inwhenever i hear the word jehovah i still feel warm and fuzzy.
he was the god that i spent hours talking to in prayer, petitioning, thanking, pleading with.
he was my father, the creator, the one who we would worship for eternity.. jesus on the other hand i never spoke or prayed to.

I once heard a minister talking about a backslider he visited. The girl said I love Jesus but I dont like God. Of course she was talking about the Judgemental God of the old testiment. The minister explained being trinitianian that Jesus was the visible likeness of the invisible God.
I think this is the problem with the WT Arian beleif they dont quite know where to put Jesus we could argue all day about the trinity but things are still not quite right and Jesus doesnt fit in.

Will the JW's become mainstream?
by Save My Soul init seems over the years, the organization has done 360's on several topics.
do you think they will ever go mainstream with their beliefs.
for example, college is good, blood is a conscience decision (without punishment), ect....... .

garybus I dont think it would be necessary forthe WT to change its many doctrines to be mainsream. I think doctrines like Arianism, soul sleep could be retained. What would be necessary is to change the blood policy, shunning disfellowshiping and preventing people from getting an education.
Of course without accepting the trinity doctrine they would be on the fringes of christianity and it would be hard for them to be included into fellowship with other christian churches.

What about the parable about the talents, doesnt Jesus want us to do our best in the field of our choice. The ones not useing their talents were chastised. Congregations of other churches are encouraged to witness to people in there own way in work or society at all levels.
How could a doctor be witnessed to by uneducated JWs, it may happen but would probably be more successful by his piers..
I know SDAs, Baptists Presbyterian and Catholics all witness their faith in an effective way.
Of couse the real reson the'WT doesnt like higher education is the resons Blondie brought out because they may be to much of an indepentent thinker for the WT.

Darwin's defense of missionaries
by Dogpatch ininteresting article on darwin: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/columnist/vergano/2007-07-01-darwin-missionaries_n.htm?csp=1 more than a century after his death, people are still trying to understand charles darwin.
and a new report says those who label him anti-religion are wrong.
the 19th century english biologist famous for his theory of evolution supported christian missionary work his entire adult life, reports a cultural historian.

Gday Waynel, Yes the witnesses are unscriptual to reject xmas for the reason in Romans 14.5 One man considers one day more important than another, another man considers every day alike. While this is talking about the jewish festivals it also shows there was great flexibility in the early church where people accepted differing positions.
On hell in the catholic church it is a left over from the middle ages the pope doesnt beleive in everlasting torement.
Also why the preoccupation in useing the scriptures in youre proofs.
Imagine if you were a christian in say 200ad you may ony have a few books of the bible remember it wasnt until about 369ad that the christian church decided on the whole nt as we have it today I t was accually tradition which determined which books were included in the new testiment as you may know the book of clement was not included, the book of revelation was the last to be accepted because some people thought it wasnt written by John.
So it is with the trinity it was accepted very early sure not all the details had been thrashed out. The creed of Ceasareer was developed into the Nicean creed and the creed of Ceasareer was accully a baptisimal statement. In fact their were many baptisimal statements all haveing the same patern. The earliest baptisimal statement was found only about 100 years ago and is as follows .
We beleive in God the father maker of heaven and earth
And in his son Jesus Christ our lord
And in the holy spirit
And in th eforgiveness of sins.
Does this statement look familure? Isnt it the framework of the Nicean creed?

Is celebrating the 4th of July really wrong??
by Lady Liberty ingood evening all.... well, like many of you i have, and am still doing my share of never ending research.
thought i would do a little research on the 4th of july and what its "roots" were.
as a witness, i had never given much thought to it except it was a nationalistic day to be patriotic, and it was a no no for us to participate in.

Yes celebrating on july the 4th is wrong, The night to celebrate with fireworks is june the 17th, the queens birthday. Poor old King George 111 never got over losing the colonies and all over a lame excuse of not wanting to pay there taxes. The colonies had just been freed from French oppression and England had the right to extract some compensation in taxes to offset the considerable cost of the war. Just remember folks June 17th the Queens birthday.

Gday Sam87,
In the past Aboriginal communities were dry and were much better off than they are now. You know the situation as it is unfolding now with the prime minister announcing the inititives to help aboriginal communities to get them off alcohol and declaring communities dry. As I have said either on purpose or not aboriginal people have been controled by alcohol.
