resident mormons: "Big Love"?

i recently starting watching the hbo drama "big love" and was wondering.

if anyone here who is a mormon or used to be one or is connected to mormons.

somehow has seen the show, and what you think of it.. .

The book of mormon has no supporting evidence of Archaeology or Geography according to Thomas Murphy Archaeologist and former mormon.

The great battle at komora hill has no evidence according to archaeologists of metal weapons and with 200,000 supposidly killed in that area there is no bones either.A similar battle at the same time found in the bible has ample evidence thousands of steel arrowheads.

According to geography the descriptions in the book of mormon is certainly of a geography that doesnt exist on earth but if we were to travel in the middle east the geography fits and the cities are still called by the same name.

According to Archaeologists there work doesnt lie and cities cant be hidden because they leave just too much evidence the cities found in the bible can all be visited but not one of the 38 cities mentioned in the book of mormon can be visited

There are 5500 manuscripts can be sighted for the bible but we only have dissappearing golden plates for the book of mormon.

The american indians are asian people and dna has proven no evidence of any other mixing of the race older then about 300 years ago. THe american indians are not jewish they are asian.

I dont have any malace toward mormons, when I was younger in our house and living with my parents we had a recording of the mormon tabernacle choir and it was one of our favorite records and at that time we notices one of the hymns had a refference to jesus going ten thousand miles to america.None of us at that time knew what it was all about.

What is required is the mormon church shoud tell the truth about their lie and stop deceiving people.

i think useing a credit card is a bit deceiving after all most people I beleive do spend more moneyon a credit card because it doesnt seem like real money. Instead of useing a credit card would you get the money out of youre pocket and hand it over just as easy.Something to think aboutbut I never use credit cards I only have a bank debit card.

while other countries have had their recessions the Australian economy is doing well and we havent had a recession for twenty years.Many people here dont know what hard times are like.

OK I will admit that torture would cause pain but it would be for the greater good.

Many of us in ordinary society suffer pain for the greater good such as kidney donors, bone marrow donors and even blood donors. So why should we be concerned about a prisoner suffering some pain for the greater good if he has information about bombs or other WMDs he knows about.

C. T. Russell and the Trinity Doctrine

i have a question.. i know that russell's hallmark was "putting the hose on hell", so i'm assuming that the belief that humans do not have an immortal soul was also one of his early teachings.. however, i know that russell used the symbol of the cross, celebrated christmas, and that the early bible students also fellowshipped with other christians.

my grandmother, for example, attended a baptist church on sundays but went to bible student group studies with her father through the week.. so i am wondering about the witnesses rejection of the trinity doctrine.

did russell outspokenly reject the trinity doctrine?

Gday jwfacts, You said that SDA offshoots held to Arianism and while that is true it may supprise some that during the 50s when Barnhouse and Martin studied SDAism they found a morass of contradictions of material all with the church logo but teaching both Arianism and the trinity doctrine. These crontradictions are found in the opinions of the SDA church members.

Im wondering when our Mormon friends will comment. I didnt get an answer when I asked some questions about why not even one artifact has been found or one city found out of 38 cities mentioned in th ebook of mormon.

My conclusion so far is the book of mormon is a fake.

here's a little highlight from this week's local service meeting that prompts my question.. it's the annual, 20 minute, robotic hand-pumping session conducted by the secretary trying to get everyone all hyped/guilted up for this summer's district convention.

anyway, towards the end of the q&a, there's a paragraph that talks about offering a ride to the elderly/infirm ones in your congo.

I beleive JWs are of high intellegence because it is well known a person of high intellegence can be more easily brainwashed.

I know a lot of pommys here and they love it here. Most I talk too wouldnt think of going back even with man eating sharks crokodiles ans poisonous snakes not to mention poisonous spiders. .

As a third generation Adventist I would like to some perspective into SDAism.

Within SDAism broardly speaking there a two groups the first being the traditional Adventistis. This group is cultic with there doctrins as they hold to older interpretations that came from the great dissapointement such as the 1844 investigative doctrine as well as other cultic doctrins. The reason I mention the 1844 doctrine is because of the heracy of perfectionism. Traditional Adventists beleive they will acheive absolute perfection before the second comming. So to a Traditional Adventist being saved is presumption because they would say only with absolute perfection they could claim such a state. This is the group that oposed Questions on doctrine since the 50s. This group also beleive that christ had a sinful human nature and that beleif also contributes to there perfectionism. Websites against SDAism are targeting the beleifs of this group.

The second group is what I would call the evangelicals and are supported by the scholars of the church. This group rejects the 1844 perfectionistic interpretations of the former group and accepts the protestant beleif od righteousness by faith.. This group is accepting of other christians as the body of christ.

So for anyone out there wanting to find a church home I could only reccommend an Adventist church that primarily is guided by people of the second group. The other alternative is to look for a group that does teach the protestant gospel. As Ive said Ive always been an Adventist but in may younger days I used to go with my friends to the Baptist church and went to school scripture lessons with the Anglicans and Prespetarians which I found OK to. I find it strange that people here sometimes favour non denominational groups. Some of these groups may be cultic also and sometimes they are groups that have broken away because of there fanaticism.

Buy cultic I mean a system of beleif that departs from traditioal christianity. I realise cult could also mean a high control group.
