Here is an SDA agonizing about his church in front a congregation. He would be regarded as very conservative and have some very much redundant teachings but would represent a large section of the church. eg his stand on righteousness by faith is now not held by the denomination.

At least If people are allowed to talk it serves the purpose of us all knowing about there nutty idears and so we can decide we want none of it. Barry

According to Spectrum magazine Angus Jones has apologised for his rant about 2 and a half men and has said the people on the set are like his own family. My concern is that Angus has connected to the loony side of Adventism conspiracy theory end times and is learning the SDA santuary message.

None of the theologans in the church can agree with the santuary message for you people that aren't familliar with this theology it entails 1844 , 2300 days changed to years and it is a dotrine which perverts th echristian gospel. This doctrine is in disrepute even amoungst Adventists .

Are the Adventists looking to attract downtrodden JW's?

sorry if anyone has already posted on this but i did not see anything related in the few pages of active topics i checked.. last saturday i went to an oil change facilty and one of their perks is they give you a copy of the current usa today while you wait in your car.

on page 8a is a full page ad titled "liberty of conscience threatened.... a national sunday law will be established as the mark of the beast.".

the article then goes on a typical adventist rant about how saturday, not sunday, is the real sabbath established by god.

I just read one of your links about SDAs

I found the link about SDAs also attacked Southern Baptists and called them Apostate and also Lutherans calling them Bible corrupters

The teaching of annihalation of the wicked is also taught by about 20% of evangelicals and was spoken about at a mens day last weekend I attended run by the Anglican church here in Canberra.

The Adventists are not united in doctrine and the investigative doctrine and sinless perfection is very controversial with much of the church the evangelicals not beleiving it in any way.

The cultic doctrines are held by what I would call the Traditional Adventists and the quote from Walter Martin is referring to the use of Ellen White by these Traditionals. Barry

I should also mention SDAs that follow what is termed the health message live approximately 10 years longer than the average. The SDAs that follow the ordinary western diet have no advantage over the rest of the population. Barry

Walter Martin wrote a book in the 1950s called the 'Truth about SDAs ' . The SDA church also released a book at the same time called 'Questions on doctrine' and it was structured with Walter martin asking questions to the SDA church and the church responding with their answers to doctrinal positions because there was much confusion as to the statis of the SDAs as to if they should be classified as a cult or not. Walter Martin at that time classified SDAs as a christian church but with some hetrodox positions such as soul sleep, the role of Ellen g White and the investigative judgement . Barry

As a former Adventist I may be able to help here.

Jwop, All christians are taken to heaven at the second comming.

The lake of fire is where the satan and also the wicked are punished at the end of the thousand years. This is not a punishment for ever and ever but only for a time determined by God.

jThe paradise on earth is for the faithful after the thousand years.

Yadda Yadda, I beleive most Adventists would see shunning as unchristian I have not experianced it and I haven't even heard of it being used.

Da Cheech, Adventists only observe the sabbath not the other jewish festivals. The reason Adventists have the sabbath is because its on e of the ten commandments and separate from the rest of the jewish law. Barry

it would have to be a grass roots issue and something that questions their authority for ever .. an non doctrinal issue may catch the gb by supprise.. many issues have allready been resolved in a very dramatic way slavery is now not a problem, women have the vote and we are taught to respect minority groups.. on the other hand what about a grass roots issue by jehovahs witnesses to accept womens ordination of elders.

other churches such as the anglicans now have women ordained to the ministry the adventists have had women pastors commissioned for a while now and have just voted in some unions to have women ordained to give women the same rights as men.
