I'm not a Jehovahs witness but I get the impression the religion wants to be seen to be clean of wrongdoing and clean compared to other religions. At the same time as appearing clean they have a policy to silence anyone with skeletons in the closet -

Question for those still attending...is anyone talking?
by ToesUp inwe haven't been to a meeting or jw event in several years.
we have been following the rc closely.
it is fascinating!

nitty-gritty I'm not a JW but I believe you have the right attitude for change from what you have admitted.
The RC shouldn't be thought of as the big boogieman. After listening to the RC it is very clear there are problems and if these problems are fixed there will be far less problems into the future. Sometimes we all suffer with the sin of pride.

From 1788 to 2015. How Australia has changed.
by Esse quam videri injanuary 25, 1788 - .
- the first 9 ships to carry prisoners from britain arrived at port jackson.
nine ships carrying 759 convicts and their guards left portsmouth on may 13, 1787, and arrived at what would be the first penal colony in australia, new south wales.

To tell the truth most Australians if they trace their heritage back are not related to convicts but a few years ago some people that did trace back and find convict relatives were very proud.
Unfortunately I can't be proud with no proven convicts but some had charges for poaching but fled to Australia before the court could sit. Barry

Convicts were sent from England to Australia after the war of independence with Britain. Before the war the convicts were sent to America by Britain -

Julie Bishop just said we should strip our cricketers citizenship because of their lack luster performance, all out in the first innings for 60. Maybe thats a bit drastic wouldn't shunning work? -

I wonder with all this sex abuse drama if Wt would ever apologize to Bill Bowen and Barbara Anderson.
by joe134cd inwt obviously must realize now the value of those that tried to enforce change on them.
i think if it wasn't for these people doing what they did wt would be in even more drama now.
so my question is do you ever think wt would voluntarily reinstate and publicly apologize to bill bowen and barbara anderson for all their hard work in bringing reform.

Bill Bowan and Barara Anderson are the heroes of the JW religion but the JW religion are way behind in seeing that. Bill and Barbara could save the JWs from financial collapse at least in Australia -

How big a deal is the royal commission..? It seems to be not much...
by _Morpheus inmy understanding (very limited and maybe flawed) is that this commission has no teeth.
if thats true why would the org care?
send a few lawyers, go through the motions but in the end.... its a dog parking on a porch.

Even now survivors of sexual molestation that have had claims payed in the past are being assessed if they require further payments because of this royal commission. -

The Australian Royal Commission will NOT do a damn thing to the WT!
by Calebs Airplane inthe rothschild family will not allow the aussies to take any significant action against their religious wing (mormons, jws, adventists, etc.).
the worst outcome for the borg will be a relatively small fine and a deadline to change their rules.
that is all..
-
barry
The law will not change significantly but fines and compensation payments to victims will cripple the WT if they don't comply.
The reasons for the RC is to identify problem areas so their is no excuse.

Won't get fooled again ...Moon Landing.
by The Rebel inso i was fooled by the witnesses.
what can i learn from that?
not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.
-

It's true I saw them walk on the moon on the TV set when I was a kid.
They didn't have the special effects they have today
