  JW to SDA anyone do it ?

  a couple friends pointed me to some info on the sabbath and i just plain like it, being the workaholic i am it's a lifesaver for me and gives me the motivation to be more balanced about my business and work schedule.

  so from there i looked into the adventists and found a hall near my place and went last week.

  i honestly enjoyed myself and the meeting time is not disruptive and the people were great and pretty laid back.

  Gday WingCommander,

  There are over 700 independant SDA ministries. These are ministries that SDAs support theologically and with their funds so you could be right.

  In my experience I have never seen Shunning used.

  Elders of churches are elected by the members to run the church but they don't have judicial meetings. The pastor is the paid clergy. The elders can refuse to have a pastor preach if they don't like his theology I have seen that done in some churches

  My wife was never an SDA and she used to call me a Davidian and that really made me mad.

  Now we go to the Anglican church she has nearly forgotten that insult.

  There is a world war 2 movie being produced by Mel Gibson called Hacksaw Ridge filmed here in Australia. IT features Desmond Doss and SDA medic who refused to carry a gun and saved 75 men single handed in one day. The movie will be out in about a year from now I suppose.

  My family and I have become Anglican but I still think some SDA churches are OK depends on the church. Being brought up SDA and my father an elder I always used to argue the point with the ministers. I disagree with the way they interpret revelation and how they arrive at 1844 was a point of contention.

  Many Adventists support indépendant ministres some agree with the official church doctrine some do not. 'Good News Unlimited' is a great gospel centred ministry

  I was brought up an SDA so maybe I can have some input here.

  There is no shunning in the SDA church they used to drop names for apostasy but since 2000 names are simply dropped from church membership. The reason apostasy is no longer used is because negative conotations it implies.

  JWs may be confused by this but their are different SDAs with different beliefs but that doesn't make then apostates. Traditional or conservative Adventists are in some ways like the JW religion.

  There are also evangelicals and liberal Adventists. The liberals may believe in Gay marriage, evolution etc.

  Xanthippe, According to His worship McCellan the WT had to make changes 1 year from now. The WT lawyer complained somewhat but McCellan reiterated he would see him in about 1 year.

  A Royal Commission has more power than a normal court or Judge that why the government has to be very specific and detail the RC powers

  His Worship Mcclellan at the royal commission told one of the WT lawyers in no uncertain terms best practice had to take place and it had to be in WT literature within 1 year

  There will be no excuses after the royal commission and every church and institution will have to follow best practice. The royal commission personal probed extensively to see if there was a desire for the WT to make changes .

  Ultimately there will be no excuses because the WT will have to comply or go out of business so I because the penalties will be just too great.

  There ail be different rules in Australia different to the rest of the world to enforce best practice
