JW Children: Feeling alone and sad
by Gopher infriday many american schools recited the pledge of allegiance to the nation's flag simultaneously, at 2pm eastern time (8am in hawaii).
to be sure, the pressure on children of jw's was great because of the nationalistic feelings that have swept america in the aftermath of the 9/11 terror attacks.. should jw parents simply have removed their children for that afternoon?
or perhaps armed them with a better explanation (about why they won't say the pledge) then "it's because of my religion"???.

Help!! I am extremely confused.
by Leander ini'm at a definite crossroad in my life right now and i don't know which direction to turn.. for my entire life i've been taught to believe in one thing but now i'm seeing things that i never knew where there before.
i find it very disturbing that there has been so many predictions the wts has made in the past that failed to come true.
also the bouncing back and forth on certain doctrines make me question my beliefs.. but on the other hand i can't ignore things like the fact the organization is growing while other religions are on the decline.

Dear Leander,
Thought you might like an opinion from Babylon the great about the 1914 doctrine because im a SDA and that is just a recycled SDA doctrine.
I studied with the JWs for about 6mths and learnt about it and I reconized straight away. The SDA doctrine is based on Daniel chapter 8 but many principles are the same, the year day principle even though the word year is not mentioned in daniel 8 or daniel 4, both religions beleived christ would come bodily at the time for the SDAs is 1844, when the prophesy wasnt occure both religions altered the event the SDAs inventing the Investigative Judgement, the SDAs refering to Revelation where the little book was eaten and it is sweet in the mouth but bitter in the belly, also Charles Taze Russell had contact with second Adventists and predictions were made for Christs comming in 1874 so there is quite a history to it all.
Adventists have this doctrine as one of there fundamental beleifs but members ,pasters and theologins dont agree with it because they dont beleive 1844 can be found in the bible with normal accepted methods of interpretation and the church is divided so its not a small thing. I can give you a link that will have information to show the point of view of the Evangicals in the church and you will find some points can be used for 1914 http://www.goodnewsunlimiyed.org.au/rogol.htm or you could email me [email protected] The traditional SDAs I would consider a Cult just like the JWs. -

Is there a scriptural basis for....
by Leander inhaving an earthly organization?.
it seems whenever you talk to someone about mistakes or failed prophecies that the society has made they always ask the question where else are you going to go?.
while i agree there has been a lot of good things the society has done i still don't understand why many choose to ignore the fact that by the society making numerous failed predictions they fulfill the scripture at luke 21:8. then theres also the scripture at deut.

Im a SDA and many of the doctrinal points have been researched already. Traditional SDAism is similar to the JWs in some doctrines and the SDA church is having problems between the Traditionalists and the Evangelicals who reject those doctrines. You might like to start with Good News Unlimited. http://www.goodnewsunlimited.org.au/gnu-sda4.htm The title is gods final word. Also you can find out on this site, is the year day principle valid, what is the true church, historicism. When I studied with the JW I found the same errors in both churches. The Administrators agree with the traditionalists while the theologins agree with the evangelicals for the most part. Best of luck

About ten years ago Jehovahs Witnesses were making many converts in the city of Rome. This was quite disturbing to the Pope and the Italian authorities. The Pope in consultation with the Italian Government decided all the witnesses would have to leave Rome. This went largly unreported in the press and the Watchtower and the Awake Magizine. Naturally there was a great uproar in the witness community ,so the Pope made a deal. He would have a debate with a member of the witness community . If the witnesses won they could stay, if the Pope the Witnesses would have to leave.
The Witnesses realized they had no choice. So they picked an old man who had been a faithful Witness for many yesars his name Joseph Smith. Joseph had once tried to start his own religion but it had failed as he had a weakness for stealing horses and had been accused and thrown into jail for his crime. Joseph then decided to join the witnesses and had become one of the annointed class. Joseph asked for one condition in the debate. To make it more interesting, neither side would be allowed to talk. The Pope agreed.
The day of the great debate came. Joseph and the Pope sat opposite each other for a full minutebefore the Pope raised his hand and showed three fingers. Joseph looked back at him and raised one finger. The Pope waved his fingers in a circle around his head. Joseph pointed to the ground ehere he sat. The Pope pulled out a wafer and a glass of wine. Joseph pulled out an apple. The Pope stood up and said, ''I give up. This man is too good. The witnesses can stay.''
An hour later, the cardinals were all around the Pope asking what had happened. The Pope said, ''First I held up three fingers to represent the Trinity. He held up one finger to remind me that there was still one God Jehovah common to both our religions. Then I waved my finger around me to show him that God was all around us. He responded by pointing to the ground and showing that Jehovah was also right here with us. I pulled out the wine and the wafer to show that God absolves us from our sins. He pulled out an apple to remind me of original sin. He had an answer for everything. What could I do?''
Meanwhile, the Witnesses community had crowded around Joseph. ''What happened? they asked. Well,''said Joseph, ''First he said to me that the Witnesses had three days to get out of here. I told him that not one of us was leaving. Then he told me that this whole city would be cleared of Witnesses. I let him know that we were staying right here.''
''Yes,yes...and then???'' asked the crowed.
''I dont know,'' said Joseph, ''He took out his lunch, and I took out mine.'' -

I know a muslim here in australia who is educated, his attitude to us infidels is that any voilance in the name of Alla is justified. He has lived here in Australia most of his life. I realize the majority of muslims are peacefull from information i have read about recently and would be horrified about recent events just as most christians would not accept the kind of values the IRA has as christian.
