  Gday Amazing 1914,

  Being a third generation SDA myself the beleif of the SDA church is that all christians go to heaven after the millenium the paradise earth is established. The paradise earth is not talked about much.

  As for no hell fire I have read even the Pope doesnt beleive that. Hell to many christians is the understanding of separation from God.

  Youre half right about the SDAs being a non christian cult. A study of thousands of hours and extensive meetings with Adventist officials by Barnhouse and Martin in the 1950 established SDA was not a anti christian cult, but rather a somewhat heterodox [i.e,departing from accepted doctrine] christian denomination. http://web2.airmail.nett/billtod/crisda.txt

  Of course the reason for so much confusion about SDA is there is a wide range of beleif from traditional to evangelical beleif and many varied ministries many not supported by the church but still accepted. Some SDAs are Arian like the JWs and have their literature with the church logo while at the same time most beleive the Trinity.

  The traditional SDAs beleive the prophet Ellen White has scriptural authority and this is I beleive the big problem with these ongoing cults after all if you beleive Ellen White is a Prophet any tom Dick or Harry could be one all you have to do is plagerise the writings of other christians as Ellen White has done.

  Jim when us Evangelical Adventists are finnished reforming the SDAs we are all joining the JWs. After all we will have the experiance it will be a piece of cake.

  PS That link in my first post appears to be a traditional SDA site I would have little agreement with their doctrine but it was usefull to find information about the LOR church. Barry

  Divorce rate of JW's less than the rest of the "world"??

  throughout my teen years when my doubt was high and my hesitancy to commit was even higher, my father always told me that no life in the world could ever compare to life in the "truth".

  he said the peace and joy jw's experience in their lives is better than anything i could find out there in "satans world".

  he also constantly threw out the statistic( as he is a bullshit artist) that witness marriages have less than a 5% divorce rate, as compared to 50% outside the "truth".

  I had to rush out and do a job two more things I wanted to say.

  The recruiters have a way of talking in slow monotone way sort of hypnotic way to get recruits.

  Free striptease shows. yea I couldnt beleive it they are asked to take all their cloths off in front of the congregation to show their loyalty to the group.

  This bloke has his group on a ranch in New Mexico and his group has been going since 2000. He uses the prophesy in Revelation about the three and a half years to show his group is being taken care of by god in the wilderness. The same one JWs use for 1914 when the secretary and treasurer were put in jail and the churches celebrated their imprisonment. Barry

  Members cant die because all members have reached perfection and perfect men cant die.

  Headship of the husband. It is easily to control one member of a family so the wife cant ask questions and has to be submissive.

  New members must write a letter of disconnection to family and loved ones.

  The SDA Church and all other Churches are Bablyon the great.

  And here is a funny one. The doctrine of donimion. When Adam before sin had dominion over the animals that dominion has been restored to the faithfull. Michael Travesser or Michael the Archangel as he is sometimes called frequently tells how he has no gophers in his garden by drawing a line around his property and muttering a few incantations can control even nature.

  A Very Sad Shell-Shocking Day

  why is it our lot as former members of the watchtower organization to suffer so much emotional pain?

  just when we think we have reached some level of putting it all behind us, something new pops up to bite us hard.

  a couple that i have been very close to just sent me a very sad e-mail.

  Gday Jim,

  I have allways believed that what the JW religion needs is sort of an opposition group or forum group that JWs can can belong to so they have a voice in the JW community and it wouldnt be necessary to have all these disfellowshippings or disassociations and divergent groups could be accepted into communion as everyone else.

  Of course the WT hasent chosen this course and may not for many years to come. But come it will in the course of time in an effort for the WT to become a mainstream religion. Once respectability is acheived it will be hard to give up. Mainstream religions dont just give up there respectability easily.

  I can only speak from my situation as an SDA where divergent groups do exist I sit alongside people who beleive the opposit to what I beleive but as yet the sky hasnt fallen, and those people who may dissagree with what I stand for still have to accept what I say at the bible study and I thank for them for that or I wouldnt bother to go I would find another group to join.   Do you still read the magazines?

  i was speaking to a lady today who isnt a witness.

  she's a very intellegent, well educated and well travelled girl, and she tells me how much she enjoys reading the watchtower and awake.

  i said to her that she has to be joking, and she tells me that she she likes them a lot.

  I get the mags from the nice JW ladies that stop by my house occasionally and I do read them occasionally and I give them a donation. They have been coming for a year now they havent asked me to have a bible study or anything. Is that the the way they do things now?

  I remember reading intellegence is more to do with good blood circulation around the brain and not brain size. They have studied some very intelligent people and found there brains no bigger than anyone elses. But they did have good blood circulation.Barry

  What has the brain size of a undernourished person got to do with comparing the brain size of a man and a women that have never undernourished arent we talking about two different things here? Anyway at the church I go to they have a women Elder and everything is ok so I think the WT should appoint a few female elders there may be an improvement. Barry

  Youre a Prophet Farkel. The Study at the SDA Church is on this very subject. For those who dont know its much like the WT study but we separate into small groups so people can have more input into the study.

  The take the SDAs have on this one is as follows from the frist paragraph.

  John 10;16

  However committed we should be to our message. we mustn,t read more into it than there is such as the belief that we alone as Seventh Day Adventists are saved. That view has not , nor has ever been the official position of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. We recognize those agencies that lift up Christ before men as a part of the divine plan for evangelization of the world, and we hold in high esteem Christian men and women in other communions who are engage in winning souls to Christ.

  One of the Questions we are going to Discuss is 'Imagine that you are given the pulpit in another Church; it wil be your only opportunity to preach there . What would say, what wouldnt you say, and why?

  So far so good but there is a darker side in this lesson the SDAs are trying to say also that they should push there distinctive doctrines. Soul sleep, Sabbath, Investigative Judgement Well Ill be there today to give them my take on things because some of there so called extinct sorry dinstinct doctrines sound like arrogance to me. Barry
