So whatever date you agree on how would you get to 1914 from there anyway? The year day principle is not a biblical datum for predictive profecy eg when our lord said he would be in the tomb for 3 days did he mean 3 years ? "You may know i am an SDA and the JWs probably got the year day principle from the millerite movement. There have been discussions in SDA ranks and many no longer agree with the year day principle Barry

HOW DOES YOUR COUNTRY COMPARE W/THE U.S. W/TAXES AND HEALTH CARE?
by juni inin the u.s, 1/3 of your salary/wages goes toward taxes.. also, we have various state sales taxes on certain "luxury items" such as t.p.
in wisconsin it is 5.5%.. in 2004, 28% of americans had no health insurance.
presently, 40% have no health insurance.. .

I beleive taxes here in Australia are about the same as the US we have excellent social services including and we arent going broke in fact the federal government returns a very healthy surplus every year and has done so for the last decade.

The Catholic Church has more right to say that because we got the bible dfrom the authority of the Church councils.

Input from Christians requested on JWs not partaking
by Brigid inthis is a new concept for me that i keep running into with all of the discussion regarding the memorial: the fact that the jehovah's witnesses make a yearly ritual (their only ritual) of not partaking of the symbolic flesh of christ.
can any christians comment on the importance in the christian faith of partaking in this?
and why, would jw's feel the need to build up this rite to have people "pass" it up.

The memorial I attended was a while ago now but i thought it was OK except for the constant reminder n ot to partake. in the SDAs communion in celebrated every 3 months and all there can partake including christians of other denominations even JW could partake but I dought if it has ever happened with any JW attender because of there insistance they dont partake.

You take someone new to the memorial, and they make fun of it.
by free2beme ini remember one year i was in my late teens and living away from home and needed a ride to the memorial.
i was invited to go with a couple from the hall and on the way they picked up a bible study they invited, this bible study ended up being a person i worked with who i knew was studying.
we did the memorial thing, and dropped off the study and went home.

i dont think outsiders would think it wacky they may not agree with the 144000 bit and they may agree with most of the rest of the memorial.Imagine if you were to go to an SDA memorial service everyone can partake but in the SDA tradition there is also the ordinance of humility or footwashing. Imaginme haveing to wash someones feet. Also some churches have the ordinance of humility at the beginning and some have it at the end of th eservice. Some people are very dogmatic on weather it should be at the beginning or the end.
