Speaking in tongues from my reading of the bible seems to mean an unintelligable language or a heavanly language. Many Seventh Day Adventists in Africa also attend penticostal meetings to have the experiance of speaking in tongues. Barry

Is speaking in tongues for Christians today, and what is it?
by jwfacts inthe watchtower claims speaking in tongues was restricted to the first century, though it seems quite clear that this was something to be practiced in the last days.
should christians today speak in tongues and what exactly is it?
i am wondering about the reasoning as some christian religions practice it and others don't.

Do you think Jesus gave every Christian a personal commission to preach?
by under_believer in"go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things i have commanded you.
i am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.
" (matthew 28:19, 20 | nwt) .

Leolaia has the scripture and to make a point havent the JWs got it just as wrong as the various tongue speaking groups. MAny tongue speaking groups say every christian must speak in tongues to receive the holy spirit but the scripture says only some have that gift.

144000, Where did Russell get his idea, and what do other religions believe
by jwfacts inwhere did russell get the notion that the 144k are a literal number, and that they are the rulers in heaven?

Some SDAs used to beleive that only 144000 people would be saved and probably some still do beleive it. My Dad told me once about an SDA evangelist who beleived only 144000 would be saved until a person pointed out to him the small number 144000 is and how he was reducing his chance of being saved given the humber of christians in of the world ets. He changed his mind soon after that discussion.

Just to explain to our foreign readers here the Ashes I refer to are in an ern in England and are the Ashes of the Cricket stumps burnt in a match over a hundred years ago. When Australia first won in a cricket match in England it was too much for an English lady who gathered the Cricket stumps together and burnt them. thereafter the Ashes have been kept in an ern in England and the match between Australia and England has been known as the Ashes

About early christianity: Good link!
by Hellrider ini found a good text online, about early christianity: .
http://www.muslimhope.com/bibleanswers/earlychurch.htm.
...the text has nothing to do with islam at all, but it is published on a web-page that tries to reach out to moslems...(never mind that, it`s not important).

Episcopalians, Seventh day adventists , Baptists , Methodists all beleive the same on the Trinity.basically. God is Father Son and Holy Spirit ;that make up one God. Three persons make up one god. All have allways existed.
The incarnation is when Jesus or God the Son came to earth in th eform of a human. Jesus was fully god and fully man the scriptures can speak of Jesus a man and Jesus the son of God. Jesus has two natures.
When I was a young boy I went to a bible study group in the SDA church and we went throught the statement of beleif of the Episcopalian church and beleive it or not it is the same as what SDAs beleive on the Trinity as well as every other beleif. Of course the SDAs have a few extra beleifs that are not included in the Westminister confession

I think its a very good link the fact is the time period in question the scriptures hadnt been decided on Hebrews to Revelation. These books were decided on by the end of the fourth century.
Flying high no one beleives all three are the one person that is only a straw man .
