My disagreement with hubby on use of Jehovah's name around JW's...input
by megsmomma inok, this weekend i had a jw at my door and i sincerely gave a anti-wintess to him during which i did tell him i feel closer to jehovah than i ever have and i still believe in jehovah, just not the society.
my husband thinks i should have said "the lord" or "god" instead, because he thinks it sounds like i was being hypicritical in a way.. my take is that to sound like i knew what i was talking about, and to lessen the likliness of him turning his ears off right away, i should talk in a way he is comfortable with.. hubby thinks it is more beneficial to show you are free from their wording and say what you mean from your learning that jehovah is not god's only true name.. .
what do you say when talking to them if you get the chance?.

Going to anoher church?
by KatyH81 ini just wondered if anyone has been to a church since fading, or getting out?
and how did you feel when you went?

My first wife studied with the witnesses before we were married and when I invited her to my church she shook like a leaf. I couldnt understand this because I had been used to going to other churches all my life and I didnt have that type of behaviour.
So from my experiance i can understand what some witnesses must go through visiting another church.

Gopher, you said one mans freedom fighter isanother mans terrorist,
While this statement is sometimes true with what we are dealing with Islamo fasist terrorism we are dealing with an enemy that swill not negotiate with in fact there is no way we could call a cease fire with Bin Laden he beleives this war will go on until the day of judgement. If we were all to become Muslims there still would be no let up in hostilities and bin laden would continue with war on muslims he considers to be apostate.

They had kangaroo at the supermarket a few months ago so I decided to try it. I was the only one who ate the kangaroo meat. It is a big export earner and is sold all over the world. Kangaroos are a big pest here in Australia there are allways dead ones on the side of the road that have been hit by cars.

Religions similar to JWs.
by LtCmd.Lore indoes anyone know of any religions that are very similar to jehovahs witnesses?.
it tends to come up in discussions with them a lot, they like to think that they are the only ones that don't believe in hell, the trinity, that jesus died on a stake, that they won't go to heaven, or stuff like that.
i could probaby just prove them wrong, but that would take forever and it would be a lot easier to just say: "you're not as unique as you think...".

Gday Monophonic,
SDAs were Arian and Trinitarian about 1900 and then the official position became Trinitarian. As a result there is still a small sector of Adventists that are still Arian and beleive the same as the WT on this. The Adventists came from different churches as well as some small groups who didnt beleive in the trinity and these same roots effected the WT org.
SDAs dont restrict any holidays and as you rightly pointed out now have women as clergy
Similar to the WT Adventists beleive in soul sleep and use the historicist view of interpreting bible prophecy.

Mormon lady shocked at JW disfellowshipping policy
by yaddayadda inwas talking to a mormon friend about the jw policy of shunning disfellowshipped persons.
she was pretty shocked to hear that jw totally ignore disfellowshipped ones, not even saying hello, even family members.
told her that you have to spend months attending their meetings to grovel your way back and the whole time no one talks to you, not a word.

Im an SDA and there is no disfellowshipping, excommunication or shunning. The most church leaders can do is ask you to leave if there is any problem. The thinking behind this is that people will decide themselves if they want to belong to the SDA church. There are differences in doctrine within the SDAs anyway so even though most beleive the trinity I could beleive as some do Arianism and still be a member. This makes dissfellowshipping unworkable anyway because who would you dissfellowship Arians or Trinitarians?

You might upset Merry with that.
I just wonderl what would Merry get at the pearly gates or any muslim women get? I beleive they are second class citizens even in the after life.
