my husband who was raised as a witness & has recently considered getting baptised brought home a "personal study schedule".
this study schedule was given to him by an elder and clearly states at the top "do not post to any electronic service such as the internet" - that alone makes me wonder - why are they hiding it??.
anyway, the schedule breaks down every day, clearly states how much time you should be spending reading the bible & jw literature each day through the week.

But the WTS said, at one time, that Jesus comunicates with the F&DS through the angels now that the holy spirit has been fired.
When and why was the Holy Spirit reinstated?
According to the teaching of J.F.Rutherford the Holy Spirit was no longer needed once Jesus Christ 'came to the temple of Jehovah God ' in 1918.
By his spirit, the holy spirit, Jehovah God guides or leads his people up to a certain time, and thus he did until the time when "the comforter" was taken away ... in 1918.
Preservation, 1932, pp. 193, 194.
...1918... in that year the Lord Jesus came to the temple of Jehovah God. The holy spirit that had been the guide of God's people, having performed its functions, was taken away... J.F. Rutherford, Salvation, 1939, pp. 216, 217.
In times past the holy spirit was the comforter and helper of God's people, and those brethren supposed to have the spirit of the Lord acted as teachers of the consecrated; but now, since the coming of Christ Jesus to the temple, Jehovah God and his great prophet, Christ Jesus, are the teachers... the faithful ones receive knowledge and understanding from the Word of God revealed to them through the Head of the temple organization.
J.F. Rutherford, Jehovah, 1934, p. 311. See further, The Watchtower, March 15, 1938, p. 89, ¶37: 1939 Yearbook of Jehovah's Witnesses, Daily Texts and Comments, October 6.
After Rutherford's death in 1942, N. H. Knorr, in the Watchtower of August 15, 1944 on page 252, "However, the holy spirit is not removed or taken away from the remnant." Since that time multiple publications of the Watchtower Society have reemphasize the one "holy spirit".
So that answers the first question, but what about the second question? Why was the Holy Spirit reinstated? If Christ 'came to the temple of Jehovah God " in 1918, which is still the teaching of the Watchtower Society, then what has changed? Was Rutherford wrong about there not being a need for the Holy Spirit after 1918?
5 Holy spirit still operates in very lofty ways. It guides and directs Jehovah's heavenly organization. (Ezekiel 1:20, 21) WT 1992 2/1
All along the way certain "elective elders" manifested themselves as opposers to the new divinely provided leadership. They failed to see that Jehovah's holy spirit or active force was working organizationally in bringing about a governmental transformation leading to a theocratic or God-directed New World society WT 1955 5/15
Servants in the congregations are not such because some man has selected them. It is not the circuit servant or the congregation committee that determines who will oversee the congregation of God. It is Jehovah's holy spirit that must operate to appoint them as overseers. WT 1957 6/15
At times there are heard from immature ones slighting remarks, careless talk or outright criticism of the Society's operations. Such is outright lack of respect for the means Jehovah is remarkably using to perform his will in this pre-Armageddon time. Truly the Society as directed by God's holy spirit merits our deepest respect and wholehearted obedience. WT 1960 7/15
Christianity as from God, the imparting of miraculous gifts of the spirit for the physical curing of the people ceased with the death of the apostles, but Jehovah's holy spirit as a helper for his people has continued down to this day. Those who have been associated for many years with the New World society of Jehovah's witnesses are well aware of the operation of this spirit of God, for of a truth it has been the stimulating and driving force behind their work. No man or body of men can be given credit for the unified preaching work of Jehovah's witnesses on a global scale in 179 lands and territories. No humans can be credited with the marvelous flow of Bible truths. Decisions regarding theocratic organization, the operating of the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead, the Kingdom Ministry School arrangement, the establishing and enlarging of printing plants in many parts of the world-all these things and many, many more have certainly not been accomplished solely through the thinking ability and foresight of human creatures. The great legal victories that have become so numerous and that have defended and legally established true worship in the earth are really Jehovah's victories. His spirit has directed all this work, including the singular stand of his people against entrenched blood transfusers. Surely without God's guiding spirit it would be impossible to breast the rushing tide of ridicule, scorn and unfavorable "advice" of sincere relatives and respected professionals. No, such an adamant stand for the sacredness of blood is not due to mere human reasoning and leadership. All praise and credit goes to Jehovah's guiding spirit. WT 1961 7/15
True shepherds recognize that during these last days, Jesus has appointed his faithful and discreet slave over all his belongings and that holy spirit has directed this slave in appointing elders for the shepherding of the sheep. (Matthew 24:3, 47; Acts 20:28) Hence, being theocratic involves having a deep respect for this slave, for the organizational arrangements that the slave has instituted, and for the elder arrangement within the congregation.-WT 1993 1/1
As in first century, certain members of slave class selected to be governing body, which, directed by holy spirit, makes appointments of overseers and ministerial servants.KM 1974 our kingdom ministry
The men of that governing body, like the apostles and older men in Jerusalem , have many years of experience in God's service. But they do not rely on human wisdom in making decisions. No, being governed theocratically, they follow the example of the early governing body in Jerusalem , whose decisions were based on God's Word and were made under the direction of holy spirit.-1989 live forever
So let us have faith that Jehovah will help us to view our trials properly and endure them. Scriptures may be brought to our attention by fellow believers or during Bible study. Events maneuvered through God's providence may help us to see what we should do. Angels may share in directing us, or we may receive guidance by holy spirit. (Watchtower; July 15, 1992; p. 21)
If this teaching was wrong, a teaching from one who claims to be directed by God *, what's to say the teachings of today are right? Was God furnishing Rutherford false 'meat in due season'?

the bible profecied that judas (although not named) would betray jesus.
the bible also says i think that it was the devil or gods bad spirt that enter judas and caused him to do what he did?
if judas hadn't then there would have been no betrayal and no sacrifice therefore.
"I've always wondered it. How can he be guilty if he had no free will?"
In Romans, Paul knows that the reader will ask this question.
Romans 9:19-22
"One of you will say to me: "Then why does God still blame us? For who [can] resist his will?
But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? "Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, 'Why did you make me like this?'"
Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?
What if God, choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath--prepared for destruction?"
As for free will,
Adam and Eve had free will, we are sold to sin and when we are made dead to sin by the grace of God through Christ, we are slaves to Christ.
I don't see that we ever had free will.
Romasn 6:20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.
Romans 6:6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin
Romans 6:22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life

anyone who's still 'in' and went yesterday, how did it make you feel?.
before i went i read the passage of scripture from romans 7 and 8 in a couple of other translations bsides nwt.
beautiful and uplifting, how the spirit guides us and helps us overcome our imperfect nature.
" anointed Christians are counted
righteous on the basis of their faith in Jesus"
I've got news for the WTS. All who believe are anointed and "in Christ" and "there is therefore now no condemnation for those in Christ". Romans 8:1
There is no other way (according to the bible) to be saved.
This whole idea of 144000 being in Christ and part of the new covenant and the rest of the believers not in Christ and not part of the new covenant is just a made up thing. Made up by man (the WTS) and not found in the bible.

if any of you go to jw.org and look at magazine pdfs for a laugh or a shiver, you should have seen this gem in the march 15, 2012 study edition!
to long for the good old days.
the old days better than these days?
"The real JW message is that everything is getting worse by the day, and the world was a loving and happy place before 1914.
They can't have it both ways that the old days were both good and not good, but that won't stop them from printing their duplicity."
You've just said a mouthfull.
Thanks

witnesses, how can cameron assert that jehovahs witnesses only believe what a small governing body of men tell them when other religions have.
but yet, when jehovahs witnesses believe the same things cameron says it is only.
Don wrote,
"It doesn’t register with Jehovah’s Witnesses that if the Society could pass a “food-at-the-proper-time” examination by Jesus Christ today, it means that they would have failed the same exam in 1919 because so much of what they had been teaching then was not what they are teaching now."
This guy says,
"Now it has become blatantly obvious Cameron makes the same wrong conclusion over and over and over. He assumes the Society had to have everything correct at the appointment of 1919. Where does the Bible ever suggest Christ’s temple would have to be flawless at the appointment? It doesn’t."
I won't argue "flawless" but "giving food at the proper time" was the test.
From there own bible.
Matthew 24 :45 “Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time? 46 Happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so."
The appointment was to give "food at the peoper time".
Teaching wrong things is not giving "food at the proper time". It's more like giving rotten food at the wrong time.
His argument about "the refinement" is beside the point.

Yeah, It's kind of a catch 22 thing.
This guy should agree with Don on this point even if for a different reason.

This guy does not even know what the WTS teaches.
The WTS clearly teaches that the bible is a sealed book to all but them.
"Only this organization functions for Jehovah's purpose and to his praise. To it alone God's Sacred Word, the Bible, is not a sealed book," (Watchtower, July 1, 1973, p. 402)."
""We all need help to understand the Bible, and we cannot find the Scriptural guidance we need outside the 'faithful and discreet slave' organization," (Watchtower, Feb. 15, 1981)."
Yet when Don says that those who join have failed to "carefully examine" the WTS claims about who is the F&DS this guy objects.
If the bible is a sealed book to all but the F&DS how can anyone "carefully examine" anything?
This guy goes on to say that there is no “illusionary concept”.
I would call the bible being a sealed book to all but this organization an "illusionary concept".
As is "we cannot find the Scriptural guidance we need outside the 'faithful and discreet slave' organization"
To be clear, the WTS is talking about itself here.
So without the bible as a guide, this according to the WTS, how can anyone, who is not yet part of the organization, carefully examine the Watchtower’s claim?
In fact, according to WTS teaching, even a member can't understand and has to follow the teachings of the F&DS.
This guy does not understand what the WTS teaches.

every day i am on here, i learn new things.
a little while back, there was a post about the existense of elder manuals with km required notes in the margin area that gave away a little more than the gb wanted.. how do i get my hands on a copy of that?
i know it's difficult to obtain pay attention (with margin scribble) and it's all the more difficult to obtain a copy of shepherd the flock of god (with margin scribble) since it is relatively newer.. if anyone could help me find a copy, be it hardcopy or pdf, i would give my left cheek.
This is a clean copy, no hand written notes.
