  Hard to get over: No New System

  i have to tell you something.. i really find it hard getting over the idea of no new system and all that it meant to me.

  to be with my children and their children forever in perfect health.. too many days it just leaves me empty.

  i just wish i could shake it and enjoy life, but the idea that we just live for 70 years and die kills me.

  Anewlife: I feel the same: Re: It is our turn now on the earth, we pass that gift onto the new generation and let them have a go. We are one big family, that is why, as long as there are humans on the earth, WE never die. I go on, but have left my impression on this earth. We are layers of humanity and without one layer, the next could not happen. There is a fantastic picture, "The swamp" that shows this. It's caption says,

  "The 'swamp' holds the community of generations, a phrase that recognizes the individuality and the links within all humanity from beginning to end. Each person, real as each has been, ends faceless, unacknowledged, a shadow within that layer upon layer of shadows. That is the swamp, the humus of history. Yet no achievement, no civilization, no victory or dream has ever been realized without them."

  Another thought: How unfair to hold the carrot of "seeing dead loved ones" ie. Dead marriage mates...when the bible clearly states that the dead will not be allowed to marry. How many widows or widowers are dreaming of the day when they see their mate again? Not gonna happen ppl. Bastards to pry on ppls love as well as fears.

  I visited my elderly JW parents today

  i had business in that end of town, and just stopped by.

  i had been wanting to do so for quite a while.

  my parents will be 87 each next month.

  Ouch. 10 years. Ouch to all of us in the same boat. My chest is actually aching at the thought of how horrible this religion really is to take families away from each other. Imagine not seeing your children for 10 years. Ouch.

  I always use to hate this fact, you live through armageddon, everything is going great, and then 1000 years down the road...BAM...Satan is let out....and all hell breaks loose AGAIN! I guess 1000 years just isn't enough of a testing period, God must punish humans AGAIN by holding who knows how many carrots in front of us...see if we pass the test AGAIN! Seems like a hell of alot of tests to pass for eternal life. SOOOO...how long will Satan be allowed to try to tempt humans again? What will he be allowed to do to us? He is going to be some kinda angry after being locked up for 1000 years, time enough to come up with all kinds of evil plots to launch against humans, ressurected ones and the new born. Poor innocents will not know what hit them. Remember the angels are all watching so, it could be universal again, it may take years, decades, millieniums.........for God to really know who is worthy and who is not. The cycle starts all over again!!! That is just sick.

  IT IS TOO HOKEY! Too farfetched. I can't imagine God acting like this. Now IF I am made by GOD and I can see the injustice in this, do we really think that God can't see this? Of course he can, feelings that I have were put there by him therefore feelings/all thought/reasoning powers etc that I am capable of, first belonged to HIM X(times) infinity.

  Bus Stop Blues

  my 13-year old son missed the bus this morning.

  and demanded that i drive him to school.

  from his point of view, i am doing nothing at all, and only pure selfishness is preventing me from driving him a mile in our van.

  I would have done exactly as you did and have done it many times. There is a valuable lesson in life here, it is this: DEAL WITH IT. FIX IT YOURSELF.

  You are merely telling him that you have confidence in his ability to make up for his mistake and laziness on his own. You are giving his self esteem and an "I CAN" attitude. There is no harm in that, only good.

  JW's are OBSESSED with numbers

  i went to church on sunday, for my daughter, with my daughter.. i noticed something, they don't count how many are there.

  it got me remembering how jw's count count count count at meetings, then put it up on the back bulletin board, then at assemblys and announce it right away, how many went out in service.. more numbers=keeping track of bible studies, placements, family studies..... it goes on and on....why?

  i think to guilt members into doing more, if it were all free choice then it would be our decision to come, go, go out in service, etc.

  I don't want to live forever on the earth

  i have come to the conclusion that i do not want to live forever.

  tomorrow would never come, i would not do it because i could do it tomorrow, or tomorrow or tomorrow.

  time would cease to exist as there would be no need to keep track of things.

  I have come to the conclusion that I do not want to live forever. Tomorrow would never come, I would not do it because I could do it tomorrow, or tomorrow or tomorrow. Time would cease to exist as there would be no need to keep track of things. Children 'growing up' would lose it's special charm and intrigue, in fact all youthfulness and the beauty of it, the beauty of middle age and it's rewards, the older years and it's woes and blessings. Rites of passages would be meaningless. I think that we need bad to have good. Comparing is what gives us either. Without bad, how can we know what is good? Without injustice, how can we know justice? The universe is a plethora of opposites. Can't have one without the other.

  Living forever would take the joy out of LIVING for me. If I live on, I live on...if I just die, I just die. THERE is nothing I can do NOW to change that. What happens, happens. SO LIVE, ENJOY, DO IT.

  What do you all think? Don't you think living forever is kinda freaky?

  It goes on and on....WHY? I think to guilt members into doing more, if it were all free choice then it would be OUR decision to come, go, go out in service, etc. BUT IT IS NOT their choice, more proof how they are being pushed, shoved, poked and prodded to maintain averages that are so fake and not from the heart that the averages would obviously quickly deteriote without all this 'reminding.'

  I too think about this alot.

  Interestingly: My husband (nonJW) is NOT afraid of death, never thinks about it, thinks it weird to discuss it so much. I have found that the more worldly nonreligious ppl that I talk to, they aren't afraid. Fear is put in us through religion.

  I have come to the conclusion that I do not want to live forever. Tomorrow would never come, I would not do it because I could do it tomorrow, or tomorrow or tomorrow. Time would cease to exist as there would be no need to keep track of things.   I got counselling for my daughter!

  update: the studying with my daughter is great.

  i have also decided to set up some counselling for her.

  i have free counselling through work, they set it up, find an appropriate counseller given the circumstances, etc.

I have free counselling through work, they set it up, find an appropriate counseller given the circumstances, etc. So we found this kind, peace-loving, granola type to talk with my daughter. I have talked to the counseller about how she is coming out of a cultish religion based on fear and threats of death. The counseller is going to try to open her up to see that the world is bigger than JW's and kinder than portrayed by them. I can't wait to start. Even if my ex does get to her with JW teachings, at least my daughter will always remember the logical thinking that she is getting in her youth and while I can't teach her every little doctrine/belief/rule that is wrong.....she will learn HOW TO figure out what is crap and what is not ON HER OWN. That is my hope.

  he would not stop to help because our life on earth is only temporary, and paradise is more important.

  Prodigal son:

  Walks down the lane to the father's house, downtrodden and depressed, Dad says, "Son, you can't come in the house to eat with us as God commands us not to eat with sinners such as yourself, BUT go back to meetings for about 6 months, and we'll see you then." Dads walks back into the house to enjoy the remainder of his worthy family that have stayed loyal to Jehovah. Outside, son falls to the ground and is spiralling down into a dark depression with feelings of guilt, lonliness and unworthiness. No one is there to see him fall, no one is there to pick him up, no one is willing to show any love or kindness to him, never has he been more alone. He must dig down deep within himself and discover the strength of the human spirit to survive. He must learn the true meaning of being utterly alone. He comtemplates suicide at the thought of no one caring for him during a time when what he needs most is his family to support and love him. Lying there at the gates of his father's house, hearing the laughter beyond, smelling the scent of 'family gatherings' and knowing they do not include him, is almost more than he can bear. Thinking to himself, "BUT I have come back, just my showing up should be enough for them to accept me, support me in whatever decisions I have made." He screams, "I AM HERE! LOOK AT ME!" After spending months sitting at the gate waiting for approval, being angry, sad, lonely, hurt, revengeful and getting nothing but looks of pity from family members as they walk past him......he decides that he must live or die. He decides to live and goes in search of a new family, new friends, a new culture, a new sense of spirituality, a new everything. He must go find life and HIS meaning of it.
