Page 30. The caption under the picture of a man in a wheelchair and 2 painting for him states, "Love moves us to come to the aid of those who are in real need." This wording irritates me because it says "in real need" Why did they add that quantifier? What is "real need" vs "need"? I'll tell ya, it is what the organization deems REAL. See, if indicates that there is REAL need and there is FAKE need????????

Studying the new "Keep on the Watch!" brochure - The Illustrations
by ozziepost indubs now are using their newly released "keep on the watch!
" brochure to "invite" the lapsed, the recently interested, the unsuspecting to commit themselves to "god's earthly organisation".
the trouble is that the writing department have used this glossy brochure to misrepresent the 'real' truth.

I am enjoying this thread as well.
Here are some more stories for ya all:
I saw an old friend walking out of the beach area to the parking lot this summer. My kid had locked the keys in it so I was waiting for a tow truck. They were taking a long time so I asked her if I could use her cell phone. She said sure. I used it and then she said, "We sure miss you." I told her that I miss people as well, but not the religion. She said, "Well, we miss you." I said, "but religion has to be more than just a social club, doesn't it."
I saw an ancient friend, same age as me, old family friends, we used to play together as children. Our familes go WAY back in Walmart the other day. She said, "HAY! I thought that was your voice!" I said HI! How are you! We hugged and she said, "I heard that your Dad is not in the truth anymore" I said, "True, true...but he is soooo happy with his new wife, he is doing great whereas my mother married the PO of her congregation and hates him. She is so miserable and depressed always." R...looked at me shocked...did not say anything. I then said, OH here is my husband and my oldest daughter. She shook his hand. By now I think she is curious about things because she knew my other husband. I tell her to say hi to her family for me and stay happy. Boy did that feel good to tell her how happy we all were.
I emailed my ex sister in law a few weeks ago. I told her that I love her and always will. We were friends more than we were family. I told her that I lied...I said that I would never regret anything...I was wrong, I regret not having her as my friend anymore. No response back, but I didn't do it for that reason.
Given the post here about brothers...I am going to write to mine. I miss him so much and have not spoken or seen pictures of his 2 children. It has been 3 years. I do want him to know how happy I am. I wanted to BLAST him in letters but forget it....I AM going to take the kindness route and reach out first. I don't care if he replies, I will do this for my own spirit.

I changed the rules. THEY may have to ignore me...but I certainly do not have to ignore THEM. I am not bound by the laws anymore. So now, I say hi, how are you. I am polite and kind to most. This old lady was sitting at McDonalds eating a cone with someone. She recognized me but turned away. As my husband and I left, I turned to her and said, "You look really good, you look healthy and I am glad to see it." She smiled and said thank you.
MANY of the congregation still wave at me or say hi in public. Although I have had the extreme as well where this one freak shields his eyes from me with his hand and turns his face away from me when I walk past him. I say stuff to him...yah, I say stuff to him alright and I say it loud.

Lots of things are going wrong...
by Sirona ini'm going through a time when so many things seem to be going wrong.. doesn't it seem as though it never rains, it pours?.
i know the skeptics will roll their eyes at this suggestion: i think that sometimes things happen this way for a reason, and that when we successfully get through it, we are so much stronger.. what do you think about the idea that trials sometimes come along for a reason?.

I read a positive affirmation yesterday that said: "Life is like the ocean, it must ebb in order to surge."

Fantastic scripture about man made rules
by Jez innwt says in matt 15:8,9.
"this people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me.
it is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.".

NWT says in Matt 15:8,9
"This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines."
Contemporary English Version says:
"All of you praise me with your words, but you never really think about me. It is useless for you to worship me, when you teach rules made up by humans."
Sometimes I think that the JW's recycle the same ol scriptures over and over and over and over. WHY have I not seen this scripture in all my years as a dub? They don't want me to see it, or maybe I am seeing it anew without the ol' twists/interpretations added for me.

*** How goes the "Keep On The Watch campaign? ***
by truthseeker ini thought this campaign was different from the last few campaigns the watchtower bible & tract society has organized.. first of all, there was no real build up to this campaign - it received very little attention.. just a scant comment in the km about the 30 day preaching campaign and that is all.. in 1995/6, when we had the brochure, "will all people ever love one another", there was a build up of enthusiam.. brothers and sisters were told that they were not allowed to even see the brochure until it was time to give them out.. as we left the exit doors then, ministerial servants would distribute a batch of 25 to each publisher to place.
we felt important.
we felt special.

My mother sent the brochure. I too found it a cheap way for the society to hit both the general public as well as their congregations. Why produce 2 brochures when you can do one? What happens is, the general public will be baffled, and the congregation will be bored because it is the same ol stuff.
"Are your choices leading you to where you really want to go?" Page 10 and 11 asks a zillion questions. Very personal questions. I can't see the point in asking them??
I think they know ppl are getting pissed about waiting for the new system, 'just around the corner', 'any time now' because on page 14, they preach to existing JW's and state "If you knew for sure that the impending execution of divine judgment would not come for a few more years, would that change how you are using your life? If the end of this old system is already later than you expected, have you allowed this to slow you down in Jehovah's service? Our not knowing the exact time gives us opportunity to show that we serve God out of pure motives. True Christians want to live and serve Jehovah forever. That prospect is not less precious because they must wait for certain blessings a little longer than some may have expected."
A little damage control to the masses and perhaps scare a few new ones or fence sitters back into action. What a load of crap. I hope some see through this.

Passing JW Comments about Halloween
by roybatty inwas it just me or did it seem each year when halloween rolled around, jws would always say "boy, seems like more and more people are celibrating halloween this year" and everyone in the cargroup would nod their heads in agreement.
this was soon followed by a discussion how this was sure another sign that satan was hard at work and that the end of the system was near.
just something i was thinking about earlier today as the kids and i skipped church and put some finishing touches on our scary halloween decorations.

I must say, our house was the best decorated one on the block! I had so much fun. Weather here was clear, crisp and cold. Perfect. Even my 14 year old went out.
I love this time of year, Halloween marks the end of fall....here comes Christmas!

About 20 to 25 years ago, there was a brief time where there was an intermission in between the public talk and the WT study. It was about 10 mins long. Gave ppl time to walk around, go to the bathroom etc. One time this cute shy older brother who could barely muster the strength to say 2 words said, "Brothers and Sisters, it is now time for the intercourse to begin."
Does anyone here remember intermission? or intercourse during intermission? lol.
