  Children of the 80's!

  alright, i admit, i was a child of the 80s (or what i can remember) but the real reason for this thread is i have noticed that there is quite a few of people on this site that are close to me in age or just a little bit younger or older.

  i will be 28 in june.

  i think that this period in my life is a deep questioning period, because at younger ages i didnt give a flip about anything jw or ex-jw for that matter.

Maybe that is the real reason that I started researching the JW's

  I think that this site is a great outlet for finding that common ground with people who have shared the same experiences. Please dont think I value anyone else that isn't in my age bracket, (younger or older) Or maybe it just has to do with ex-jw's in general.

  Anyway, I was just saying HI! to all my friends and since I told you my age, get yours out in the open!

  how many ppl here grew up entirely surrounded by jw's?

  all of my family and any friends i have had my entire life are jw's and now that i am df'd i have no association.

  for my ex who also got df'd he's ok because his group of friends (my old group as well) have pretty much faded out, but as for me i have no one.

  I was born and bred a JW. My parents lived far away from the rest of my non believer family- I had little to no contact with anyone outside of immediate family on a regular basis. After growing up a JW, and getting dfd..it was a shock....mostly because I was a good person, I had done much in service, an "exemplary" youth.

  Blech.

  It all came crashing down about age 15.....that was the downward spiral...then I didnt get dfd until age 18. It was VERY hard at first to even socialize with anyone, but give it time. You will meet people, get new friends, and develop a life!

  Its dark for a while, but the TRUE light does get brighter....hang onto your hat for this ride...its going to be a doozy!

  Yes. A brother who had been elder at the time had been found out by one of the kids, he actually had enough gumption to come forward with it, faced the guy in a JC and everything. Then after he came forward, 5 other boys including his stepson came forward. One of the boys was my best friends brother, so it really hit close to home. They didn't df him, but he was privately reproved. sick.

  What was your most humiliating point of being a jw?

  mine was when my mom signed me up to sit at a table at our local university.

  we had to sit there and talk to students as they passed by our table.

  a few people came up to start a conversation and i didn't even know what they were talking about.

  Wow.

  I was sitting in a JC for "moral uncleanliness" (I wont go into details) and the questions that both those elders asked me about "how far" and and things NO grown man should be asking a 15 yr old, you know the whole "did you scream" act....while my parents sat there dumbfounded and my dad crying...I started crying....the winner of it all?

  The elder asked me now "WHy are you crying?" DUH??!!??!?!? Gees why would a scared teenager be crying at the dissappointment of all these people. When I told him "I don't know" (because all I was thinking was how I would like to dig out his eyes with my thumbs) he said I must have been crying because I got caught, then rattled off some stupid fornication scripture to me.

  I really dont think there is anything ridiculous about peoples memories from a time in our lives...and so I didnt think it was a "rediculous" thread to start, I was talking about pictures and marketing strategies that the WTBTS uses to persuade, and this is what first came to mind.

  OMG!!! No kidden about nightmares... I thouch molech was the cow god? Luckily Im young enough (and not bragging) to faintly remember the paradise lost book. I do however, remember taking a piece of paper to the front embossed part and making a rubbing with a pencil....dont ask me how I can remember this stuff, but most of the memories of those books are gone...I cant remember many of the pictures...Im guessing its like a selelctive memory?
