ah your ingenious defence is that Christ does not have opinions therefpre as long as he is your source of info you can have any opinion and not be in disagreement with him. Well played. Do you have any biblical evidence that Christ is sans opinion or is that a circular logic opinion you have that may or may not be agreed with by your Christ?

To cut to the chase I think you are incapable of enunciating an opinion of your own that you do not simultaneously think your Christ holds. Your entire worldview revolves around subservience to the idea. if you could give an opinion you hold that you know Christ disagrees with you would alter your opinion. You are therefore incapable of mentally having am opinion opposite to your internal perception of Christ. In effect you must , by logical definition, think that when you share your opinion that until checked Christ agrees with you.

The scriptures you would write ( and as someone learning from Christ directly as your sole truth you are in fact writing scripture here in this very forum ) would reflect the morality you have. You and your Christ are one.

Are you aware of any opinions you hold that Christ disagrees with?If you say no , and you will, please refer to my inital question and repeat until you concur that you and your Christ do indeed share the same opinions.

Would you be prepared to give an example of an opinion you have tbat you have not learnt from Christ but that is your own and that Christ disagrees with? Is your opinion on Christs opinion on slavery yours or his?

so would it be fair to say that your opinions are Christ's? Would it therefore be fair to say that your opinions, as Christ's are therefore superior whenever you come across a competing opinion regardless of whether it is from a believer or not?

While I absolutely agree that scholars( priests?) have created a being called Lucifer I would argue that that is a valid observation about all the biblical characters. I think the meme of Lucifer as light bringer is valid though fairly unimportant.

The use of Christ v the flawed bibe is a simple mental trick to keep the charade of belief going. Modern sensibilities are opposed to slavery and xians like tec are influenced by the prevailing opinion. Unfortunately the bible cannot be updated and is stuck as a product of a different age, an age where incredible detail over priests clothing, exact foods to be eaten and rules for social conduct were meticulously laid out. That most of the inviolate 'laws' of that book are ignored by xians and are instead replaced by new ones plucked from the air is telling. Christ , being utterly undefined by the bible (don't agree with his portrayal in a story - ignore story as flawed) becomes the perfect foible for the continued recreatio of God in man's image. Listening to xians claiming Christ is this or that and then rehearsing their own moral opinion but then applying mendacious humility ( I learnt this through Christ) is amazing to see. The obvious link between their own imagination and this iconic super hero is audacious yet tragic.

The bible is not opposed to slavery nor are any of its principle characters , though a good case could be made for Lucifer/Promethius.

Christ , being a 100%, mental construct can stand for whatever the devotee wants, he can support any nuance of any word and can supply invisible authority to those whose arguments cannot stand alone. Christ has supported crusades, the subjugation of women, torture, eternal punishment, war, peace, gays, homophobia, free love, sexual purity, environmentalism and Republicanism. Christ is everyman and is the best invisible friend since he always agrees with you, you have the authentic Christ even though billions of others have tried , and failed, to get the exact message that was saved for you, you dear xian are the chosen one.

I am appalled how this poorly constructed, ephemoral meme of Christ robs people of authentic moral courage. We are far better , mankind is far more magnificenct than any fig hating pig murdering slave condoning patriarchal character in a book of immoral fables.

Are Mormons "racist" towards black people?

i really do not know much about the mormon religion so i don't want to say things that are not true.

but mormons just give me a feeling of that they are "phoney" i just feel that in my bones.

i don't want to stereotype people but i live in the same apartment building with 5 young mormon missionaries.

I don't think anyone here is labouring under any misapprehension that the Mormon prophets are real.

You are right that prejudicial attitudes when ascribed to divinity is a smokescreen.

I am grateful to live in a culture both religious, LDS, and secular that is changing its model and now respects people regardless of race.

Jwfacts, Why Do You Equate Miracles With Magic?

i have a question for the author of the website jwfacts.

as i was reading the sparlock article, i couldn't help but notice something seriously wrong:.

"the bible abounds in vivid fantasy, such as its many celestial descriptions, or the portrayal of warring kingdoms with imaginary beasts.. the sparlock message is confusing, as much for an adult as for a child, as the bible shows that god's followers practice magic, even if they are usually referred to as miracles.

It is abundantly clear that the bible was just one in a series of 'my god is better than your god' cultural battles. Putting to one side the fact that these are fantasy illustrations and that Ra doesn't really fly through the sky on a boat, Dagon doesn't really rule the fish and Elohim didn't make talking animals we can see how the definition of miracle and magic simply comes down to a definition of which god is the supposed source. To the Egyptians the acts from their gods were miracles. Thus we see the descriptions of supernatural events in the bible as merely power plays. Your god can turn water to blood? Mine can turn rivers and then his son can turn it into wine. You have a magic staff? So do I. You have a flood, we have a better one. You practice divination? Joseph does it better. You practice child sacrifice and burning children so does Abraham. You practice healing by spit magic so does Jesus. You can levitate? So can Jesus. You can practice necromancy , Jesus can also raise the dead. You kill animals to placate your god and bring the harvest? We kill more to placate our God. So it goes on, the bible has the casting of lots, magic sticks parting water and genetically changing farm animals, diving rods finding water, iconography curing snakebites, magic food that has variable shelf life, gesture magic ( raise arms stop earth rotation ) , fire from heaven magic, man v angel combat, invisibility, teleportation, prophetic theomancy, demonic struggles and casting out, magic boxes, curses and curse objects, crystal gazing ( Urim thummim could be this ) , animal command,trance magic, magic days and magic dates. There are magic realms , magic punishment and magic rituals that must be performed to get to them ( baptism . )

The distinction is semantics. My god does it = miracle, priesthood, divine. Your god does it = magic, magician, diabolical. Nothing attributed in the bible ( with the possible exceptin of talking to spirits) to any false god as magic is not simply replicated bigger and better by bible god. Ironically at no stage did bible god ever simply say - hey Dagon doesn't exist don't sweat, since he doesn't exist I won't bother to do low grade magic acts , let's talk about physics and I'll show you some really useful sh*t. Instead he just circus performs enough to outdo whichever god needed to be outdone and involves lots of dead animals in his magic routines. Culture wars no more.
