Why dont we start with proof of who you really are? I believe there is every possibility that Atlantisdragon, Kenpodragon, and donkey are all one and the same person.
Care to offer any solid evidence that would counter this theory?

i pose this challenge to believers: what would it take for you to stop believing in god?.
this is an interesting challenge.
well, it may sound paradoxical, but in order for any claim to be true, it must be falsifiable.

as humans our brain works in ways that make us tend to generalize and categorize things, including the types of people.
being as i am half human (the other three quarters are pure ass...) i do the same.
from my observations i see 3 types of people on this board: the activiststhe rationaliststhe rest of us (rest-of-us (tm)).
Limiting yourself to one thought per week or does it take you that long to formulate just the one thought?
Id be interested in hearing your views on Jehovahs Witnesses and whether or not you feel the religion is no better or worse than other organized religions.
Also, in your view, would victims of abuse within Jehovahs Witnesses congregations be better served by seeking help through available resources other than those provided by Silent Lambs?

my wife hit a deer while driving her new vw passat with less than 300 miles on it.
thats the car with the 300 miles on it.
we dont know how many miles the deer had on it at the time of collision.
Hey, Ronda!
Thanks for the concern but not to worry, everyone is okay.
Michigan, huh? The last time I flew to Detroit was on a corporate trip to visit Kmarts corporate headquarters on the morning of September 11, 2001. They closed the airport right after we landed at about 9:30 AM that morning.
Long story short, I ended up renting a Mustang and driving back to Wisconsin the next day.
Im planning another trip to Michigan next month.
I hope you and s/o have a wonderful holiday!

When did you guys move to Green Bay, I thought you lived in Texas? Am I confused? Is there another Xena?
Anyway, glad to meet you (again?) as we are nearly neighbors. We are just south of you off of Interstate 43 and a mile from the lake.
Stop by for pie and coffee on your next trip to Milwaukee.

if i had ever been a victim of abuse, and the offence had been perpetrated by a member of the jw religion, then silent lambs would be the best thing ever to appear, both on tv and in person.. if i had a close friend or relative who had gone through the same trauma, then i would feel almost the same emotion.. now i do not know, obviously, what percentage of persons on this site have been victims of abuse by jw's, but my guess is that this percentage is relatively small.
so whilst most of us feel very empathetic to abuse victims, not that great a proportion of us have experienced it personally.. however, i do know that many of us have suffered trauma because of other forms of abuse by this organisation, including disfellowshipping which has caused many to be rejected by their loved ones.
whilst it is not possible to measure this form of abuse against that of child abuse, it is nonetheless a type of abuse that most of us are familiar with on a personal level, it's also a type of abuse that is still going on for many who post here.
What a lovely sentiment and such a nice epitaph.
I think the important thing is that you remain comfortable with your own level of commitment. One should never feel pressed to overexert themselves if they dont have to.
Its obvious that youve put a lot of thought into this. You will no doubt be remembered for your courage and the extravagant way in which youve helped others, long after youre gone.

Does Bill Bowen really need a high approval rating here, on the board, for his mission to be a success? I dont think he spends a lot of wakeful nights worried about what people think of him.
I do think he spends a lot of time getting the job done. There are only so many hours in the day and I think he spends a greater portion of his day actively helping people.
Look, no one will ever praise this guy for his diplomatic skills. Many will probably turn blue in the face if they are holding their breath for an apology.
I liked the Patton analogy. Patton made a lot of enemies, but he got the job done in the meantime. His seemingly brutish efforts brought a swifter conclusion to the war and ultimately saved allied lives.
Do the ends justify the means? Only the individual can decide.

Anyway, we just got the Passat out of the shop and it looks good as new, but the deer is still dead along-side the highway.
We have a real problem with the deer population here in Wisconsin. Eighty thousand fewer hunting permits have been issued (than last year) due to the wasting disease affecting the deer population. Plus its mating season.
This means a lot more deer are running out onto the highway, or just peeking in your window late at night.

been browsing around...and i have to say it is alittle difficult to tell if this is a pro or anti jw site.
any takers on filling me in on what the attitudes are around here?
it seems there are quite afew inactive and df or da people but then there seems to be alot of chat about meetings etc.. for the record, i was raised jw from age 5, baptised at 15 and df at 17 and reinstated at 18. i would call myself inactive...most of my family are still active but talk and associate with me.
Many people will advance the thought that COC is a self-help book designed to add clarity on important issues for those thinking of leaving the organization. In some ways, I suppose it could also become a useful tool for those trying to find meaning in their life if they suddenly find themselves da'd of df'd.
Personally, I think its a terrific book for any ex or soon-to-be ex-JW to hang their hat on. If nothing else, it will eliminate the need for a lot of useless and time-consuming personal research and will perhaps allow the reader to simply say; "Me too!" to observations they hadn't thought of previously.
One possible sour note though - some here feel that the current printing of COC should have included at least an acknowledgement of the rampant child abuse problem within many Jehovahs Witnesses congregations. Others here feel the book is fine as it is, without any such reference.
Should you stick around long enough, you might find a debate or two on this subject.

Well, I happen to be your average 53 year-old, run-of-the-mill, ex-Bethelite, ex-ministerial servant, disfellowshipped ex-Jehovahs Witness knucklehead. I suspect youll find all types here.
