Hey cloer2fine i just wanted to say COOL OPUS ICON!!! hehe im a big fan of bloom county and I love opus. I have a huge opus collection of opus stuffed animals, including a bill the cat..I also have an OPUS PHONE!!! I just found it last weekend at a thrift store for $3 and it still works and it's in great conditioN! hey i noticed with alot of the opus' i find at thrift stores and stuff, girls kiss his nose!!! My opus phone had like a very fine collection of dirt on his nose and on closer inspection i found it to be some dust that had stuck to the grease left by someone kissing his nose!!!! Was this a fad in the 80's? Another one of my opus has big lipstick kiss on his nose.

Well once there was a brother who gave a talk, he was from betehel I think (Our congregation was only 4 hours from bethel so we got a lot of visiting bethel speakers..and they would be always be viewed as 'better' than any other speaker) and he said that since everyone would live forever, and noone would die out, maybe Jehovahs intends to make the other planets inhabitable so that we could start colonizing Mars and stuff..he said it was purely speculative but that it was an idea. So yeah, JW's have a facination with the future and space travel and stuff. I think the brother you talked about thought that Jehovah would help us develop advanced technology quickly so that we could explore space. But yeah maybe the ideals of starfleet (no hunger, war, greed, money, the world at peace united under one overnment) was similair to the beleifs already held

ExJW's Make Better Lovers?
by COMF ini don't mean in general, i mean for exjw's... is there a noticable advantage to pairing with someone with the same background?
i'd like to read your thoughts and experiences on this subject.. i've been romantically involved few times, since "the light got brighter" for me about the organization, with people who didn't know anything about jw's before meeting me.
one of them viewed my exjw activity as a bit obsessive but okay as long as she got to obsess on her favorite obesssions, too.

Yeah, I was with an x-jw for a short while and damn it was HOT. Yes I agree it has to do with sexual repression but man it turns some people into animals. Not that I'm complaining!! But hehe as far as long-term relationship it can go both ways..sometimes it's a bad idea to be with someone who is as messed up as you (an obsessive compulsive women getting together with an obsessive compulsive man...) but then again the level of empathy present would be good too. It's a tough call. I beleive that in a relationship you improve each other, and I beleive the best way is to be with someone that has just enough in common with you that you are good friends but enough vastly different than you that your thoughts and beleifs are constantly put into doubt :)

A giant conspiracy because she has found a way to quit smoking easily????????? Why would the Governing body try to stop this? Sheriff breaking in just to steal stuff? Learning two languages in only 9 months? Died and came back to life???? This is insanity. I'm sorry but this something I just cannot swallow. Perhaps we are dealing with a complusive liar?
Sorry for the harshness but you got to admit this story resembles swiss cheese.

THe first thing you got to do is realize every religion since the beginning of time has preached about 'the end' and the JW's are no different. Every christian religion has some sort of fear of eternal punishment implanted into their followers to inspire compliance and obediance through fear. If you are still into being christian after you leave then do alot of research on independent reserach on the new and old testament as well as the dead sea scrolls. The beauty of being a human being is freedom of thought. YOu should be able to read the bible and interpret it yourself. The JW's have taught you for a long time that you could not possibly interpret it on your own, that god never intended it for individuals to understand. I don't beleive this is true at all. God made us intilligent didn't he? SO yeah, don't fear armageddon. Salvation is not belonging to a group of imperfect human's little club. Theres alot more to spirituality.

Thank god! I'm approaching the weary age of 23 and was hoping something would arrive soon to save me from my athritis and wrinkling and liver spots soon!
But seriously, I think it will be very cool. What if they somehow find a way to allow us to stage in a perpetual 25 or so age forever? Wouldn't the value of human life be dramtically increased for more people once they realize they could last for hundreds of years?

Actually, I have amny ex-JW friends and after much discussion and comparing experiences we find that many ex-jw's are extremley sexual. Even more sexual and with a higher sex drive than the average 'worldly' person. So yeah, I would say most ex-jw's make better lovers

Prevalence of JW Suicides - Real or Imagined?
by AMNESIAN inin one or two recent threads i've seen reference to the possibility of a rising number of jw suicides being another of the organization's very dark realities about which it is vigilant in keeping concealed from its pub populace.
is there anyone reasonably informed regarding this?
is there reason to suppose the incidence ratio among jws is any higher than among any peoples/religion?

Don't forget the jehovahs witness who left to join the army, then inexplicably piloted his jet fighter straight into a mountain side. His mom was reportadly constantly giving him hell for having joined the military as she was still a practising JW. This happened in the United states about maybe 2 years ago I beleive..I'll try to find a link on cnn.com to the story
