How many members on here in total, & q about pre-1975 jws
by gypsywildone ina long story condensed in order to keep private things private, but first of all, how many active members are on here now?
second of all, were the pre-1975 jws less hard core, would you say?
is that around the time they "stepped it up"?

Does Your JW Family Do This?????????
by Wild_Thing inokay ... here's what happened .... first, some background ... i am the youngest of three daughters raised in the org (we are third generation), and i left for good more than four years ago (i left in my heart a long time before that).
they tried to shun me for a while, but couldn't keep it up any longer than 6 months, and after that we slowly got close again.
my mother and sisters are all still witnesses.

Perhaps more then anything...you feel slighted one more time by the religion. One more time it was chosen over respect for you and your feelings. One more time your family has rejected you in some way, however slight, and you are feeling the rage that we all have at one time or another.
Maybe instead of looking at it as a slight to you see it from her eyes. Dealing with the elders/family/daughter and maybe she isn't strong enough to do that right now. A divorce and custody battle are in and of themselves too much. She may view your relationship strong enough and you personally strong enough to be slighted so that she won't have to deal with the issue at hand.
You are strong to her. She is weak. I think about this everytime I have an issue with a sibling. They don't get it and maybe never will but I sure do and I can be there to pick up the pieces in the end.
Just another view...either way I am sorry for how you are being treated and are feeling.

When the Watchtower Society Celebrated Birthdays
by Kenneson incharles taze russell began zion's watch tower in july of 1879. but the earliest clue i could find in its pages that bible students celebrated birthdays was in the nov. 15, 1905 issue, which offered for sale copies of "heavenly manna" sugggested for birthday and christmas gifts.
on april 1, 1907 it was announced that the new edition of the "manna" would "contain the same texts and comments as the former one, but will have twice as many pages.
every alternate leaf will be blacked ruled, for use as an autograph and birthday record.

I saw on another thread that birthdays CAN be celebrated but are strongly discouraged. Does anyone have this in writing? I have yet to hear of it being ok to celebrate a birthday.

LAWSUIT AGAINST WTS - WRONGFULL DEATH
by SHUNNED FATHER ini filed a lawsuit today against the wts for wrongfull death of my daughter bethany.
i had a press conference and all the media was present.
i will be interviewed later today on two radio talk shows.

Do you believe it is wrong to celebrate Halloween?

i now celebrate most holidays.

Well since it's my birthday I pretty much blow all their no celebrating rules out of the water all in one night!
I let my son do it. I could not care less because it's all about candy to him. I was robbed of a childhood and it's my job to make sure he isn't.

A Letter from A Witness
by cruzanheart inone of my witness friends in england told a friend of hers out in service about how i'm not going to meetings anymore, what a shame, etc., etc., so this well-meaning little person decided she wanted to write me a letter.
i asked why, and she told me the story of this young man.
remember how i was able to leave the matter of my husband?s relationship with jehovah in his hands?

My story
by recoveringjw ini had to tell my parents about all of this and i lived through hell in the days leading up to my committee meeting.
but he was married, and i was friends with his wife and a he was ministerial servant and no way was i going to go down that road!
