What kind of a hypocrite are you? Derek devised a test. You self-proclained psychics failed, or came up silly excuses to not partake. We only have your words for your assertions you have seen anything outside your own head.

I have shown no hypocrisies. If you READ the posts you'd realise i wasn't on this board posting when derek devised this test or at least unaware of this test. AND you would see that i am trying to make a fair test that will satify both sides of this debate with larc. Read before you post!

And i was refering to test posted here from stargate and such, not those from random people on the board.

The only rational conclusion is that you have a problem that should be discussed with your psychiatrist and nobody else.

Not only is this offensive to me but to anyone who DOES have a mental illness. This is an IRATIONAL conclusion based on fear of the unknown. You can't understand it so you label it 'crazy'. Not only that it's hurtful. Just cause your norwegian doesn't give me the right to tell you you need to go to the psychiatrist. It's not your fault you're Norwegian.( by the way i grew up in Norway and speak fluent Norwegain just so i don't get labeled as predjudiced) This was a hurtful comment and not appreciated.

I don't care what classes you took in HS or what the dictionary definitions are (which are usually laughable when it comes to scientific terms) - you are mistaken.

If i can't rely on the dictionary to tell me what words mean i'm screwed. But i like how you just disregard an authoroty that doesn't agree with your opinion of it.

There is probably no way for me to help you see what science really is all about if you don't have the desire to learn about it, but it would be more honest for you to just accept that you are in ignorant bliss of the process and leave it at that.

I used to beleive that science was complete truth and infabale until i realised it's all theory based and they constantly change their minds on their discoveries. I am in no way ignorant of science but i'm not going to go into it anymore. you beleive science is one thing i beleive it's another. Deal with it.

Anti-intellectualism is the mindset that many of us came out of from the JW's and it irks me very much.

I have never been a jehovas witness so i know little of their or your mindset regarding this. I'm sorry their mindset irks you though.

You may see science as a fumbling in the dark,
but I see it as the ONLY self correcting human endeaver for gaining knowledge ever created. If you have another system that works better, please let us all know - we are on the edge of our seats!

It is arrogant to assume that science has accounted for all phenomena, that there is no room for anything new. If the history of scientific discoveries has taught us anything, it is that we constantly discover new things. It was once thought impossible to slow down light to 30 miles per hour, yet this was done in a lab. It was once assumed that as computers got more and more powerful, they would become larger and larger. There is the famouse example of a scientists who calculated that as the human species grew within cities, the amount of manure from horses would become umanaganable. This was of course because he did not forsee the invention and wide use of automobiles. In science it is important to remain humble and relaize that there is much to be discovered, especially about the mysteries of the human brain and it's capabilities.

I never stated that science hasn't done great things.I am very appreciative of it but i don't think it is the end all of knowledge.

I still cannot comprehend how my drawing a picture that i have NEVER seen that someone has picked for me how can my brain be fooling me?!?!! waht i just THINK i see myslef drawing the EXACT picture? Really the drawing doesn't exhist. Sorry..i can't see it. And every shred of evidence i give drawing next to pictures or whatever won't convince you. You will always say that someone somehow gave me clues or i peeked or some other lame disproving method. There no way to satisfy you. There'll always be some excuse as to why it worked this time or that time. Again i can't ever prove to you it works and you can't ever prove to me it doesn't. But i have evidence and you have nothing except your sceptesism.

You said that science is only "theoretical knowledge." Wrong. Theories are used to explain a large number of well established facts. If science "confuses" you, you should take a basic class in chemistry and physics.

As for the later part of your statement don't worry i was taking college science classes in highschool so i'm good. And yet i still find science to be imperfect and condracdictory so go figure. I am in agreement that science is far from black and white. it's a bunch of people fumbling around in the dark finding a light switch here and there. I admire them cause i won't do it.

You said there is "no way to test these purported psychic abilities". Wrong again. Any ability can be tested. Your example of computer programing abilities and a doctor is an especially weak one. Programming abilities are tested all the time. There are at least 20 validated studies that have tested this ability. Obviously, not by medical doctors.

i think you completely missed the point. not once did i maintain that there were no tests for programming!?!?! My point was simply that you can't have someone making a test for something they have no expertese in as it makes for an unfare test. You wouldn't ask an english teacher to write problems for a math book would you?

And I DON'T beleive any ability can be tested until it is understood.
How can you test hdusahruerbf if you don't know what hdusahruerbf is?

People used to believe a whole lot of weird things that science later showed had no backing. People believed that bleeding helped cure people. Science showed that this did not help, but actually harmed many people.

Then why do they still use leech therapy in some cases today? Maybe i do. And i never said i didn't understand where you are coming from. I totally see your point of view but it doesn't stop me from stating my opinion.

The conclusion i came to is that is can't be proven OR disproven. Tests seem to be inconclusive either way. I think this is mostly because we just have too little understanding of these abilities AND these abilities are still farely weak in people. There is no fair way to test such abilities. Having someone who has never experienced it make a test is like asking my doctor to give me a test in computer programing. It won't do a good job of proving my programming abilities.

And again i won't label it as psi. To me it's just a skill. I have no idea how it works and i don't claim to. I am also not out there taking advantage of old people and acctually have great reluctance to do it even for my boyfriend because it kind of weirds me out. I hate the people who ridicule this skill with false claims as much as you do but i don't agree with beleiving that EVERYONE claiming these abilities is fraudulent. It's liek saying just because a doctor misdiagnosed an illness that all doctors are incompitent.

But i enjoy your posts. Being made to think is enjoyable. Thankyou.

ok. Just for anyone interested this is how it works for me. I see a bunch of lines and images in my head, i draw them and then check the results against my chosen subject. I never know what i've drawn until i see the subject and then i go OHHHHHHH THAT'S what that was. There was a famous remote viewer(who actually just sign up to do tests 'cause he needed the money while in college and had no previouse ability or notion of ability)who drew 7UP but upside down and had no idea it was 7UP that he saw. I felt the test that started this thread was not fair as he based the amount of money received by what you recognized which is not how it works.

So...ok. It is better if it's a graphic because it's more defined with lines and so on. A 3D object is far more difficult for me and i have yet to acheive it. The only information i would request is where you are located in the world so i have something concrete to target into. Please don't lie. I'm going to spend the next day or so brushing up. I have NEVER attempted such a test so I don't claim that i can do it. It's more for my own curiosity more than anything else and i don't want it to prove or disprove that such a talent exhists so if that is what you are looking to do I really don't want to participate cause that's just way too much pressure. It's an experiment nothing more. Also i would like an impartial middle man that i can send my results to who will look at them with an open mind. The fact is i get alot of 'noise' or interference(some what like tuning into a radio station. You get other stations coming into the background until you manage to tune into the exact frequency) and often times I will have some drawings that have nothing to do with the subject i'm targeting. This usually happens when i first start but i will include everything i come across in this experiment. As stated previously give me a few days to brush up and for you to pick your target and send it to an impartial middle man and i'm good to go.

You are a prime example. Without evidence you won't beleive. You realise that beleiving something with no evidence is bad but it is just as awful to NEVER beleive in something UNLESS there is evidence. Closed mindednes is just that-Intolerant of the beliefs and opinions of others; stubbornly unreceptive to new ideas.

You did a 180 and belive ONLY in what science can prove. That's is not much better in that science seems to be a replacement for religion for you. There is a difference between questioning things and stubbornly not beleiving without evidence.

To me it is sad that JWs take away that right with children to beleive in santa and the easter bunny. It makes for such a sceptical person.Never allowed to make beleive. Always blaming creativity on satan. Taking away toys with guns and not allowing certain things to be watched or drawn. What a sad childhood. My childhood ability to beleive gave me the opotunity to be more open-minded about things that one can't touch and feel. Like love. I can't prove my love, there's no test that CAN but i would hope my boyfriend had the faith to beleive that i do love him. It would be sad to me if he made me prove it scientifically before he beleived it. I really have no beleif in god but i can't say without any doubt that it can't be true just cause no one can prove it just as those who do beleive should completely rule out that he may not exhist.

And oh yes the great scientist made my stay at the hospital nice with TV and a mechanical bed but as far as recovery my body was on it's own. The doctors couldn't figure out why it had happened. For two days i had hoards of med. students poking me and asking me what the date was and then i was forgotten. I was told i would be there for many weeks and then a nurse told me after a week i was being released without any doctor talking to me. They couldn't prove how it had occured so they ignored me. Not to say anything of the scientific conmunity but it was not the best experience in it's favor!:)

Larc- I would prefer if you just picked a target without telling me it's location or exact media as then my concious brain kind of fools with me. Like i'll start thinking 'well what would someone have a poster of above their TV?' It's best if it's a total mystery. Just tell me you have a target.(if you use the poster I keeel yoooooo, hehe) But wait a bit cause I might be doing someone elses test and miltiple target can get confusing! (yeah it all sounds ridiculous but that's the way it is!)

You say that your girl friend has the gift, but doesn't want to prove it, because it gives her anxiety going throught the process. I would think that even a large dose of anxiety would be worth a million dollars. Your example, with her drawings, seems much like what Randi ran into on several occasions. People make claims, but won't put it to the test. Myself and someone else offered to conduct an experiment, but you stated that your girl friend didn't want to participate.

Read my flippin' posts. I have told you about my reasons for being sceptical of doing these tests but that i will do them if no money is riding on them. I HAD A BLOODY STROKE! Forgive me if i worry about a reoccurance! Your need for proof overrides your compasion for others. That's awful. I was paralysed on my right side. I couldn't eat or even swallow. Give me a break! Sorry your tests don't factor at the top of my to do list.

And i really don't enjoy name calling such as'little magic girl fraudster' You have NO proof that i am in any way a fraud. Have i used magic on you? Conned you in any way? I have said i will do a test for fun. I won't do it for money. That's not why i do it. It was just a random thing i found out i could do. I don't charge for people to see me do it. I don't state it is paranormal or otherwise. All i do is refer to it as a skill just like walking and smelling and eating. It's just something i do. I know far too little about it to label it.Ok...calming down:)

So i don't get it. Randi and others want to disprove people trying to make money off their skills by offering them a reward to prove it. Anyone else see something a little awry there?

I went to his site and read his requirements. For one you have to go through a proliminary test which they don't hesitate to mention noone has passed. Right there they show they are out to DISprove not prove. You have to pay for all costs incured. You sign the right for them to use the findings for ANY purpose they chose so they can ridicule your test for the whole world to see. It's rediculous because the skill is so illy understood that ther IS NO PROVEN TESTING METHOD. The conditions SEEM reasonable until you put into consideration they already beleive you will fail and then they basically are saying we have the right to make you feel foolish and ridicul your test results that we have already shown we have no real faith that you'll pass.And if you don't agree with the terms you can't perticipate. It is all publicity.

I know that if there were a test for say artistic ability where they say from the very beginning we don't think you have any talent and reserve the right to tell the entire country so, you would be reluctant to participate bcause it's just offensive.

I can't understand how people(noone in perticular) can have blind faith in something that serves the self like religion but something that can't be proven to help you is disregarded as 'trickery''superstition' and a darned many other explenations that would be better served being applied to ones spiritual beleifs rather than something that I have proven to many people. I will show you any time for free my abilities but i don't enjoy these 'freak tests'.

Most of the world claims god exhists in one form or another yet i have found no such extraordinary evidence to back IT up. And all i do is see things in a book where a piece of paper is drawn. Religion is what many based their entire lived and morals and principals on. you'd think THAT should require more evidence than my skills do yet i have experienced way more people willing to believe in mythical beings than something i can prove right infront of them. Now god...there's an amusing anecdote.

It seems that when proving this skill there is no room for error which is ludicrous. Not even an olympic althete can run his winning time every run. In weightlifting you sometimes can lift alot more than other days. In iceskating you can't perform a triple lutes perfectly every time. Infact most times they don't. But if I don't do some test correctly many people will write off my abilities as fiction. Just cause the ice skater can't land her lutes on a particular day doesn't mean she can't ever do it. I feel it is an unfare standard.

Confident quotes from psi believers and second hand accounts of fantastic stories does not constitute evidence in my book.
And about the Sony thing - so what? So a head of the company belived in psi claims and they researched it. Just because they proclaim that they found evidence for psi doesn't mean it is true - their experiments have to be replicated.

I just have a different explanation - a scientifically accepted explanation - for my experiences.

Don't you see - anyone can claim anything - people have claimed to produce cold fusion in a lab - but they were wrong. The results could not be reproduced. Should we believe that cold fusion is a real phenomenon on Earth just because a certain group of scientists made a claim? That is not how science works, my friend.

Science isn't a science(hehe cool) as you show . I remeber learning things in school that the same scientist now say aren't true after all. Scientist know very little they are fumbling around in the dark too. There are medical methods that have been proven to work for centuries that they will not embrace because they can't understand how it works so they say it doesn't work. They can't understand what we have been discusing so to them it doesn't exhist. How can anyone learn anything if they are so quick to dismiss anything they can't understand. It's science or nothing. It's arrogant to beleive that science is the only truth when we honestly as a speices know very little about the world we live in, our own bodies and minds.

About any test. No money riding on it then i'll do it.

I'm not sure how this would be any evidence for any type of psi or deja vu claim. You admit that this was something you regularly did and your mother did not approve. The end result was not even what you dreamt. Am I missing something? This does not even count as a hit in the world of ESP.
It's like saying - I had a dream that the airplane I was going to fly on was going to crash. I cancelled my ticket and the plane left without me. It didn't crash - but it would have if I had not cancelled my flight.
Fellow posters/lurkers: This is a classic case of psychology in action - forgetting the misses and rembering only (and even manufacturing) the hits.

Wow. Few times have i come across such stubborn arogance based on NOTHING.It's almost like you fear it to be true. YOU have not had an experience to work form so YOU are in a weak position to disprove or disclaim it. And i had no idea you were the authority on what 'counts' as an hit in the world of ESP. I want to go to that world anyway. Sounds cool.

It is a completely different feeling to say to yourself' i know that this is wrong so i'll stop before mom catches me' and 'i already KNOW what is going to happen, i REMEBER it happening already.' I know because i have had both experiences. You haven't so are not in a good position to speak with authoraty about it and certainly shouldn't think so much of yourself to lecture the other members of the board about your OPINION as fact.

I do remember my misses. I have had two in all the tens of tests i have taken. That isn't phycology. I didn't make it up. It was witnessed by people. I am saddened by the lack of open-mindedness to even admit there may be a possibility of existance.

Sorry, that's just a dumb excuse. The reason mysterious powers disappear as soon as they are exposed to real testing, is that they do not exist in the first place. Our brains are powerful. What it is best at, is fooling ourselves.

What an ignorant statement. You see it for yourself in Jehovahs Witness mentality that if you think what you believe is the ultimate truth no amount of proof can change such pig headedness. It is ignorant to claim to have more knowledge on something you have no experience with than someone that has experienced it first hand.

I would really, really want to have confirmed that supernatural powers existed. Then I'd want some of them But the so-called evidence always evaporates as soon as these "powers" are exposed to verifiable tests. Why? Because they do not really exist. I don't doubt you have experienced something. I do doubt you can obtain any real, outside knowledge from ESP.

bboyneko has posted many 'tests' done with great results and they are explained away with some excuse or another.

If i take all the people on this message board and decide to test thier abitlity to solve a difficult scientific equation probably very few people would be able to do it. It doesn't mean it can't be done or that the persons that can do it are lieing about their ability.It only means you personally don't posses the skills to so it or need alot of training before being able to acheive it.

Every test is relative. I could easily get an A on a middle school test but would fail misserably with a medical exam paper. And as previously stated since so little is known about these abilities there is no testing that can be proven to test these capabilities.

I really don't beleive humans in our current form are capable of using these skills to solve crimes. I think it stills needs alot of developing before it would be a reliable sorce of any kind although i have seen stories on 20/20 type shows of physics that were used succesfully in cases so to say that 'The police have NEVER gotten a truly useful piece of information from a psychic.' is a very unsubstatiated comment as you cannot possibly prove it to be unfalibly true.

I really do beleive we can all do this to some degree or another. I know when i am out walking around town i can sense when someone is checking me out or staring at the piece of cheese hanging out of my mouth and i atomatically look back.I think many people have experienced it.

One other experience i thought was somewhat amusing. One time dan tested me with putting a marker of a piece of paper into a magasine at a random page for me to remote view. I asked dan which side of the paper should i imagine. He told me and we both went to it. When we were done we opened the book. Dan had alot of things drawn correctly but nothing of mine even slightly resemble anyhitng on the page. I had drawn a checker board design and it was some landscape. Then i looked at the otehr page where the other side fo the page had been touching and saw a crossword puzzle. I realised all my drawings were for the OTHER page and i realised i had gotten a little confused as to which page to draw. A little odd huh!

Alright...bloody hell. I'm here to defend myself cause bboyneko has done a bang up job of it. This is his girlfriend.

Just to start off with i am not a trained seal or monkey or circus act. I don't enjoy being put to 'tests' all the time to prove something i don't see a need to prove. In a sec' I'll explain my experiences so you can, if not beleive, at least see what it's like from my perspective. It is a joy to share this with openminded people but sceptics will often explain everything away no matter how clear the evidence to the contrary; much like a JW will when trying to speak with them against their beleifs:) So if you've experienced that you may be able to understand more easily my reluctance to do these 'tests'.

Since i was young i have had what is commenly refered to as 'de ja vu'. My step-father would explain it away with the notion that my eyes had merely seen the image a second before my brain had comprehended it. I said ok and thought no more of it. Then my parents seperated and my dad went to live in Belize. One night (i was like 12) i dreamt of an odd pattern. Several weeks later i received a t-shirt from my father. I opened it and my heart jumped into my throat as i saw the pattern on that shirt was the exact same one i had dreamt of. I never wore that shirt being incredibly freaked by it. I thought it was evile or something.

A few years later(at 15) i dreamt of two men with headphone radios talking to eachother. I thought it was an odd dream but again thought no more of it. Some time later i went to the US for the first time for a wedding and was taken to a baseball game in San fransico. I never even noticed the people infront of me 'til i picked up on their conversation. I then saw they had radio headphones on and i knew what they were going to say. This experience left me less freaked out. It was almost kind of nice for some reason.

I have had many such experiences. Then i met Dan (bboyneko)who had absolutely no beleif in such things no matter what stories i told him. SO eventually i did something on him that i learnt purely by chance when i was 17. one of my friends asked if i could read her mind so i held her hand and asked her to think of a simple object. I guessed correctly which was a little odd. We did it again and again i got it correctly. This happened several times and i just felt somewhat proud of myself. So i tryed this with dan. I think i guessed the first thing but he was not impressed. So i tryed again. This time i saw all these rectangles spinning around. I thought i must just be having a messed up image so i just asked what it was. he said a rotating brick and then it made sence. That is the weird thing. you have no idea what you are seeing til someone tells you. After that Dan looked into it more and we started experimenting with remote viewing.

The more i started doing this the more these urgent feelings of terror would wash over me. Eventually i just wouldn't want to participate anymore. Every now and then i'd have a spell of 'de ja vu' that would cause these occurances.

In febuary of this year i had a brain hemorage meaning my brain bled. Since that i told my doctor of these incidents and he sumized they were either seizures or panic attacks and were probably the cause of my hemorage. Periodically i still get these spells but the less i focus on them the less they occur. I can only think that my brain is just wired in a way that the part of the brain that deals with these things aslo deals with the seizure/panic attacks. So you'll forgive me if i fear releasing this part of myself fully in order to do these test.

The one thing i can say is the 'visions' or whatever you want to label them were in themselvs very calming and not something i feared. It is unfortunate that i have bad feelings now assosiated with them.

I have a hard time with doing tests for sceptics. I have done so in the past and some people are just not READY to beleive that such things exhist and no amount of proof can change that.

Excuse my writing. I am usually a little more eloquent but it's very early in the morning!:)

I will consider doing this test(for you dan) but i don't really do well in situations where something is riding on my 'visions' hence me sucking at gambling. although if i clear my mind i can sence what lotto numbers will appear right before it's aired. I spent a very boring day once watching college basketball all day and guessed the winning team corectly every time. I have great beleif that anyone can do this too. It's just intuition. We learn self doubt and statistics and probability and how things are 'supposed to be' at an early age, all of which cloud your ability to use your intuition. That's why it often comes though in times of trauma where your most basic survival skills kick in.
