you live; you die.
r: but, why give us a bible.
why send jesus to die for us if everything is "meaningless" for us?.

i would say that that would be impossible...given that jesus christ is simply an angelic being in wts eyes.. jehovah's witnesses have about as much a relationship with the angel gabriel as they do with jesus.. and, no...tacking on the name of jesus at the end of a prayer is not evidence of relationship..
dear designs...
I don't know what their private prayer life is like, their public prayer life is reverent.
I can appreciate their reverent "formula" because I haven't, that I can recall, prayed in the manner: "dear Jesus"...Jesus taught us how to pray and so I will listen to Him and address my prayers to my dear heavenly Father, then petition my dear Lord and dear God in Jesus' name. still, a little less formal than Jehovah God.
I guess the evangelicals had your number when they gave you the squint eye back then? o_0

i've only recently joined but i've been lurking for well over a year.
i'll just start with a bit of my story so you'll have a better idea on were i'm coming from, i've read that much of most of your posts that i feel i already know you all anyway lol.. i'm 32 years old now and for most of my life i've had jw's around me at times, my mom used to study on and off with them all through my child hood alough she never took the plunge i'm not sure why because even to this day she say's she holds the same beliefs but somethings held her back so there's doubt somewhere!.
anyway, having had the magazines around me for most my life i'd read them from time to time, but, when i reached about 17 years old i discovered nightclubs, alcohol and, well you know the rest ;-).. fast forward to my early 20's and i'd had a failed attempt at setting up my own business, my parents had split up after 25 years together and long story short i had a nervous breakdown.
Greetings Chris!

dear Vander...
I think that for a JW to address, talk to and pray to Jehovah God...isn't really the personal relationship that the Spirit encourages..."ABBA Father".
love michelle
p.s. if the JW's believe that Jesus is an angel it only stands to reason that they wouldn't address, talk to or pray to him.(although they supposedly have taken direction from angels in the past. How the angels were to have communicated this info, I don't know?? it's weird)

I think you've stated a correct observation.
O my...
I just realised that my last comment to Terry might be too judgemental for some fellow posters sensibilities...

dear wobble...
because you didn't see Jesus or that great cloud of witnesses then you reasonably conclude that they were invisible and fiction?...

you said: "Are there invisible people? Why not start with that?"...
Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will? (hebrews 2:1-4)
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (hebrews 12:1-2)
these people were not invisible...

p.s. this latest screed of yours shows you to be bigoted in quite a few different areas btw.

you said: "It is also an attempt to reconcile the Bible showing no one recognized him, even his closest associates."...
Jesus lives in and through His disciples and so it is the Holy Spirit who reveals or *expounds Him to others (using the bible) luke 24:27,32. in the case of those in the WTBTS they have "knowledge" of the Son from the scriptures but they strictly avoid any meaningful dialogue with His disciples to the end that the Holy Spirit might reveal Him to them.(they are trained to be opposers) those in the WTBTS have biblical knowledge...but they haven't wanted to receive extra-biblical knowledge.(1 tim 4:13-14)

whose name was the early church calling upon?.
jesus or jehovah?.
acts 9:14 a verse jehovah's witnesses can't explain!.
dear Terry...
you said: "What we have is a slow and steady tidal wave that can be traced back to an impact when a pagan-cum-christian Roman Emperor came down on the side of establishing ORTHODOXY among fanatical believers. That was ground zero.
The Authority and Power of Rome put an eight cylinder engine under the hood and zooooooom!
A loud sucking sound was heard around the world as the Church vampired the life's blood out of the secular state for its own propserity and power."...
christianity became the state religion...rome wasn't "run" by the church as a totalitarian theocracy...no one was killed if they didn't convert...not like earlier when christians were tortured, maimed and killed if they didn't show allegiance to rome...christians also gave to caesar what was his and to God what was His. Jesus didn't tell the centurion to quit his post either.
